Chapter 7 - Episode 7: The Rule He Broke for Her

The silence between them felt heavier than words.

Meera Verma stood still, her heart beating so loudly it almost scared her. The man she had only seen from a distance… was now right in front of her.

Kabir Rajvansh.

Not a shadow.

Not a rumor.

Real.

Dangerous.

Alive.

Meera's fingers tightened around her bag strap.

"Why… are you here?" she asked softly.

Her voice wasn't fearless.

But it wasn't running either.

That alone surprised Kabir.

Most people either feared him… or begged.

She did neither.

Kabir studied her for a moment.

The rain had started again, slowly falling between them like a curtain the world couldn't lift.

He should have ended this moment.

Turned away.

Gone back to his world.

But he didn't.

Because something in her eyes was doing what no enemy ever managed.

It was making him hesitate.

"You shouldn't be seen with me," Kabir finally said.

His voice was calm.

But it carried weight.

Danger. Warning. Distance.

Meera frowned slightly.

"Then why are you standing here?"

A simple question.

But it hit harder than any bullet.

Kabir didn't answer immediately.

Because the truth was simple.

He was standing there… because he couldn't leave.

Not anymore.

Behind him, his men waited silently inside the car.

Waiting for orders.

Waiting for the world to go back to normal.

But nothing about Kabir Rajvansh was normal anymore.

"You don't understand," he said finally.

Meera stepped slightly forward.

"Then make me understand."

That sentence broke something small inside him.

Kabir's jaw tightened.

For years… he controlled everything.

Emotions.

Enemies.

His entire world.

But not this.

Not her.

He took a slow step back.

Like distance could fix what was already breaking.

"This world doesn't forgive mistakes," he said quietly.

Meera's voice softened.

"Am I… a mistake?"

Silence.

Long.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Kabir looked at her then.

Really looked.

Not as a witness.

Not as a risk.

But as something far more dangerous.

Something he had no name for.

"No," he said finally.

A pause.

"You are the only thing I can't afford to lose."

Meera froze.

Her heart stopped for a second.

Because that didn't sound like fear.

It sounded like something deeper.

Something human.

Something real.

Kabir turned away suddenly.

Like staying would destroy everything.

"Go home, Meera."

His voice was colder again.

Forced.

Controlled.

But not steady.

Meera didn't move immediately.

"Will I see you again?" she asked quietly.

Kabir stopped walking.

Just for a second.

That second said everything he refused to say.

Then—

"No."

And he left.

But as the car disappeared into the rain…

Kabir's hand was trembling slightly.

Because for the first time in his life…

he had lied to protect someone.

And worse…

he didn't know if he could keep that promise.

Meera stood there long after he was gone.

Rain falling on her face.

But she didn't move.

Because her heart already knew—

He was not just a stranger anymore.

He was a storm she was already standing inside.

To be continued… 💔
