I came back home, and Mt Lady was still asleep.
"Wow, and I was called lazy…"
After making breakfast I heard the shower running.
'She's up.'
——
Mt Lady found me in the living room, watching YoTube.
"What's that?"
I turned around to see her in my oversized clothes.
"People are being weird, like I said they would."
Gossipers and reporters had made twitter threads about myself, Mirko and Mt Lady having been seen together yesterday.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they called you a nepo baby."
"Hmmm, well it's publicity alright…"
"Whatever floats your boat."
Mt Lady slumped down next to me.
"Any breakfast?"
"You think I'm running a charity? Go and prove your not a nepo baby, defeat some villains."
"Gimme your number and I will!"
…
I closed my eyes.
'Fuuuuuu-'
——
Mt Lady had left now, and I was bored.
"Might as well see what Nezu wants!"
It didn't take long to get to UA.
"Well then Taka! Give us an idea!"
I was currently facing the entire staff of UA, for some reason I had been included in their meeting.
Not even a second after being told to go to this room I turned around before Nezu said that.
Most of the staff already knew me, or at least of me.
I dropped by to look after Takaba after all.
Project Mahoraga was still in the works…
"So what are we talking about?"
"Simple things, like how to train our pupils!"
I scratched my head.
'Well considering it's a shonen…'
"Uh, have villains attack the students in like an outing or something? Like staging it, but they won't know about that part…"
The room fell into silence, a couple people thought about it for a while.
"Well." Nezu broke the silence. "That's certainly one way of doing so… anyone particularly object to the idea?"
"All the students would probably be able to recognise teachers in disguise, so we would need to source outside actors who are powerful." Aizawa said.
The teachers gaze slid towards me in unison.
'Uh oh, wait actually… that could be really fun!'
"What do you say, Blitzen." Nezu leaned forward.
My face remained blank.
"I could do it."
Thirteen was here and chimed in.
"We could use the USJ project."
Nezu mused and leaned back.
"Hmm, it's off campus and will have that surprise factor…"
Vlad King crossed his arms.
"It's a good idea, but what classes will go through it?"
"Since it would first work as a test run… I would advise testing on the third years, but then again since it is an interesting idea would it make more sense to do on the first years. Probably just after they've gotten used to their standing, so it's a way for them to realise their understanding."
Cementoss shuffled around.
"It would definitely spur on growth, my second years showed explosive growth after they were put on the ropes by a villain. The ones who had this revelation in the first year have tended to grow more than the others and retain that position throughout their school life."
Nezu looked around before stopping on myself, who was still standing by the door.
"Well then, welcome aboard the UA staff. Or should I call it the shadow staff… unofficial yet only working under specific circumstances. Well who knows! We should try this until the next year starts, we need time for that and the USJ project will need more polishing after taking this into account.
Meeting adjourned!"
Everyone filed out apart from Midnight and Nezu.
Aizawa was the last to leave as he looked at Taka before nodding and closing the door behind him.
Nezu hopped off his seat and walked up to me.
"I'm assuming we don't need to talk wages…"
I looked down.
"Yeah, I'm all set when it comes to money."
"Great! We will work out details later, I have paperwork to do!"
He waddled away and Midnight stood next to me.
"So how is Takaba doing?"
She brightened up.
"Ah! He's doing great! His wings are unbelievably soft! He's sooooo cute!!"
Her smile was so warm as she rattled on about Takaba.
I smiled but I also felt off.
Watching and seeing Takaba so loved made me think back to when I was younger.
Looking back, I really took everything for granted.
Just looking at myself now, I've really let myself go.
I left all that warmth behind, and I'm even selfish enough now to still want it.
People have always said stuff about this, like you don't know what you have until you've lost it and so on.
I've come to a realisation that I'm not enjoying life properly.
Sure, I have fun. But the pit inside of me is also there, like I'm missing something.
And now I think I've realised what I'm missing.
I miss my family. I've spent nearly 14 years just going from point A to point B.
Not much thought has gone into it, but I've changed. A lot.
So now's the time to let go, live in the present and accept everything I've done and lost.
Then move on.
"… he talks about you a lot! I think he sees you like a cool uncle! Or even an older brother, he looks up to you though. I can tell that much at least."
I looked up at the ceiling and couldn't stop the wide grin from spreading across my face.
A weight had been lifted, and I felt free. Living in the moment.
No random thoughts, just pure existence and the hope to build something new without dwelling too much on the past.
I looked at Midnight, who looked surprised at my sudden change.
"Considering how I age very slowly, I guess I'll just have to look after him forever."
'Time to push forward.'
The End. (But also not really)
A/N: updates will no longer be daily.
I will continue to reread the manga to see how I can wrap everything up with no loose ends.
Whenever I do I will push out a random chapter when I feel like it and the time that would've lead up to that point will be discarded until the time comes when it's the end of UA for little Takaba, hence the series ends.
After that there will be one super short chapter, far in the future (timeline wise).
Even I don't currently know what it'll be about, but that'll be the actual end and I will make the fic have the 'completed' status.
(If I can figure out how to do that of course).
