Jinx stood outside her new room, watching as her loyal servants directed the others inside. Furniture was being rearranged, fresh linens brought in, the dusty windows thrown open to let in the cold afternoon light. It was already three in the afternoon, and the pale sun was beginning its slow descent toward the horizon.
Her tail moved slowly behind her, a soft, satisfied swish. Excitement. She could not help it.
She knew Fenris would go to investigate. That was fine. She also knew that Flynn had handled it—made sure there were no loose ends. She did not know why she trusted him to that extent. A man she had only met twice. A man who had threatened her, controlled her, tasted her tears from her own face.
But she also felt that he was honest. Not kind. Not gentle. But honest about his words. About what he wanted.
And honest about how he will claim me, she thought, her tail flicking with irritation. Which is annoying.
