Bella's POV
Maybe yesterday's rain was to blame, but I felt dizzy and unsteady, my body burning with an overwhelming heat that kept getting worse.
Lucius spotted something was wrong with me right away. My face had turned ghostly pale, and sweat beaded across my forehead. I swayed on unsteady legs, ready to crumble at any second.
But Ivy had already passed out and needed a doctor immediately. Lucius had no other option except to lift her into the carriage first.
After getting Ivy settled, he watched me struggle out of Gavin's house. Every step was agony, and based on his pained expression, each step seemed to weigh heavily on him.
Watching me, Lucius's expression grew pained, and he flinched as if struck.
He wanted to rush over and steady me, but Ivy was still mumbling deliriously, clearly in bad shape.
My hand gripped my sleeve so tight it shook violently.
By the time Lucius got Ivy calm, I had already dragged myself into the back carriage.
