Chapter 26 - First Day On The Job

"Hello? Uesugi Fuutarou speaking. Is this mister Maruo Nakano?" Fuutarou spoke, on a call to his supposed employer. It was two hours after school, and it was almost time for Fuutarou to tutor the quints at their house.

"Yes. Today is your first day on the job, Uesugi-kun. I have high hopes that you will teach them well." Maruo spoke from the other side of the call. Fuutarou nodded.

"Of course, I will try my best and make sure they will successfully graduate."

"Confident are we? That's a great mentality to have. Though I must advise you to be patient with them, my daughters can be a little... stubborn."

Fuutarou chuckled and nodded. "It's alright, sir. I have experience in dealing with those types of people." He replied.

"Then I'll leave you to it, Uesugi-kun. I have given you access to the Pentagon, so you should be able to enter the building without any issues." Fuutarou was about to end the call but Maruo continued. "Just a reminder, Uesugi-kun. If I hear from any one of my daughters that you're lazing off—

"That won't happen sir. I promise you." Fuutarou cut him off. Seriously why in the world would he do that? Who does Maruo take him for ? 'If this guy was dad's friend then he should have a good idea of what we went through right? Slacking off was the last thing on our minds back then, and still is.' He grumbled, feeling a little offended.

"Very well, I'll take your word for it. Good luck, Uesugi-kun." The call ended as Fuutarou sighed. Shaking his head, he started his motorbike, typing in the coordinates of the Pentagon on the phone's navigation app.

But first, he had somewhere to go.

...

"I feel like I'm some sort of VIP..." Fuutarou whispered as he stood in the elevator heading up to the 30th floor. The girls' apartment was at the top most floor, which he just found out that it was the most expensive suite by checking the description of the place on Google. Maruo really spared no expense for them.

He checked out his reflection in the elevator. Fuutarou was wearing casual clothing, feeling that showing up in his school uniform would be weird, and first impressions were important after all. He was also carrying a large white paper bag and another black bag that had his teaching materials in them.

'Woah. Why am I nervous all of the sudden?' Fuutarou exhaled as he exited the elevator, making his way to the front door of the apartment. He stood in front of it for a few moments before he gently knocked on the door.

"Coming!" He heard a voice inside the apartment. The door opened a few seconds later, revealing Yotsuba in casual clothing, a polite smile on to greet the one who knocked.

"How may I help you—AHH FUUTAROU-KUN!" Yotsuba's eyes widened in disbelief as she took a good look at the person in front of her, not believing her eyes. Fuutarou smiled at her.

"Wh-why are you here at my home?" She stuttered out. Fuutarou smiled.

"To tutor you and your sisters of course."

"Huh?! Wait! You're the tutor!" Yotsuba exclaimed. Fuutarou nodded. "Yup. You're okay with it right?" Yotsuba grinned and opened the door fully for him.

"If it's you, of course I'm okay with it! Come in!" In fact, Yotsuba was more than okay with it. This was her chance to spend time with him catching up, and... maybe... Yotsuba widened her eyes realizing what she was thinking about. Yotsuba quickly shook the thoughts off her head as Fuutarou reached for something in his white paper bag.

"Here." Yotsuba widened her eyes as Fuutarou held something in front of her. It was a bouquet of green and white flowers. Within the bouquet were some wrappings of chocolate bars. It was a peace offering, to a great cooperation between them.

"F-for me?" Yotsuba stuttered, face red at the sweet gesture. If one couldn't tell, this was the first time she had received flowers, especially from a boy. At Fuutarou's nod, Yotsuba gently took the bouquet and smiled at them. "Th-thank you so much..." She whispered. Fuutarou smiled at her warm expression.

"You're welcome. Where are your sisters? The session is about to start soon and I can't have them skip it." Fuutarou questioned as Yotsuba guided him to the living room. He placed his black bag on the coffee table as Yotsuba pointed upstairs.

"They're all in their rooms. Do you want me to call them down?" Yotsuba suggested.

"Answer me this, if you call them and tell them their tutor's here, do you think they're all going to come down?" Yotsuba hummed softly as she had a thoughtful expression. She then grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck.

"Probably not, hehe. Sorry to say this, but they're actually uncomfortable of a stranger being in their home." Fuutarou shrugged, not really offended. This was an all girls place after all, a boy suddenly intruding would make them feel some ways.

"Nah it's fine. But maybe they would warm up a little if they find out that their tutor is the same age as them. Besides..." He grinned at Yotsuba. "I'm not gonna bite. Unless you know..." He raised an eyebrow at Yotsuba.

" U-unless w-what?" Yotsuba stuttered.

" Unless you're into that."

"Ummm!! How about we call them together?!" A red faced Yotsuba quickly ran upstairs. She looked down at Fuutarou smiling at her and pouted. Fuutarou thought it was the cutest thing in the world.

"C'mon, we don't have all day! I wanna learn!"

"Alright, alright. I'm coming." Fuutarou chuckled at her enthusiasm as he went upstairs. Standing side by side with Yotsuba, the girl then pointed at the rooms. " Starting from this end, it goes Itsuki, me, Miku, Nino and Ichika."

"I see. Let us start with Itsuki first." They arrived in front of Itsuki's room before Fuutarou gently knocked on the door.

"Just a moment!" Itsuki said inside her room. A few seconds later, she opened the door, to say that she was baffled at Fuutarou's presence was an understatement.

"U-u-uesugi-kun?! What are you doing here?!" She exclaimed in shock. Yotsuba grinned and pointed at him.

"Dad hired him as our tutor!"

"R-really? Wow, small world..." Itsuki whispered. She had actually wanted to ask for Fuutarou's tutoring, just from the fact that he figured out her studying problem in that short amount of time, she felt as if Fuutarou was the better suited tutor. But now here he was in her home, conveniently being the tutor her father had hired.

The girl smiled gently at him. "Well, if it's you who's going to be teaching me, then I'm all for it. Just let me gather my things and I'll be done in a minute—" Itsuki was taken aback as Fuutarou held something in front of her. It was a bouquet of reddish orange flowers with some milk chocolate bars on them.

"Here you go. Let's work hard together." He grinned at her. Itsuki blinked as she grabbed the flowers. "Th-thank you, Uesugi-kun. I-i will be down in few moments." She stuttered before shutting the door gently.

"Mmmm...." Fuutarou looked at Yotsuba pouting and crossing her arms. "I thought you only bought flowers for me! Hmph!" She grumbled before huffing and looking away, pretending she was mad at him. Fuutarou chuckled, scratching his cheek.

"Well I can't just show up empty handed. So I bought them as a peace offering to each sister, to show that I'm willing to give my everything into teaching you all. Sorry if I created any misunderstandings." Yotsuba smiled at him, shaking her head.

"Hihi. It's okay, Fuutarou-kun. I'm grateful that you're sincere. That's enough for me. But next time..." She clutched his sleeve, looking straight into his eyes. "Buy something only for me." She grinned at him.

"I'll see what I can do." He smiled back. They then went to Miku and Nino's room, finding them empty. Deciding to not waste their time, they then went to Ichika's room.

"I gotta warn you a little, Fuutarou-kun. Ichika's room is uhh.... It's something. Try not to be surprised okay?" Yotsuba grinned apologetically. Fuutarou wondered what she meant by that. He quickly found out as Yotsuba gently opened the door, entering the room.

Piles of clothing were all around the room. The room was as unorganized as it can been. Fuutarou blinked as he stepped in the room, being careful as to not step on any of the clothing. Yotsuba sighed. " I just cleaned this as well... How can it get like this in a couple of days..." She grumbled.

"Is this a bedroom or an archeological site." An amused Fuutarou commented before hearing a yawn. He looked at the bed to see a girl groaning while slowly sitting up.

"Hey...Why are you talking about my rokm like it's some garbage dump... Haa..." The girl yawned again before getting a good look at the person accompanying Yotsuba. The boy got a good look at her face too, short pink hair with one strand to the side, her whole body being covered by a pink flower patterned blanket.

Ichika widened her eyes as the memories came rushing to her head. She recognized the boy before her. The one who brought Itsuki home, but more than that, he was the one who played Sevens with her, the one who gave her a sketch as a gift, the one whom she made a pinky promised with. Oh she was really awake now....

Fuutarou didn't realize it yet, moreso because he was still searching for the different 'Rena' that played Sevens with him and didn't realize that it was actually Ichika herself. But he was about to find out soon.

"Yotsuba." Ichika suddenly called out with a serious tone.

"Y-yeah?" Yotsuba replied, a little surprised at ichika's sudden change in tone.

"Get out of my room."

"H-huh?" Yotsuba blinked, taken aback by the sudden order. Ichika smiled at Yotsuba. It was a sweet smile, but it was too sweet to the point where it became scary.

"Get. Out. Of. My. Room. Now."

"A-alright! Geez what's got you so pushy all of the sudden?!"

"Close the door too."

"Yeah yeah..." Yotsuba waved her off, closing the door as she went out. Ichika sighed as her younger sister exited her room. She then laid eyes on Fuutarou before smiling warmly at him.

"Fuutarou-kun, right? Itsuki has been talking about you. You seem to be our main topic these days." She then placed her hand on her chin. "Are you here because you're our tutor, or are you actually here to see big sis Ichika hmm?~ Ufufu~" Ichika giggled and smiled slyly at him, moving her blanket covered body closer to him.

It was then and there that realization dawned on Fuutarou. No wonder why her smiled seemed so familiar. 'So Ichika was the 'Rena' that played Sevens with me that day.' It was then another realization dawned on him. This girl had became more dangerous at teasing than when she was just a elementary schooler.

"Oh? Why can't you talk now, Fuutarou-kun? Shocked because I guessed your true intentions correctly?" Ichika then laughed as Fuutarou repeatedly shook his head in denial.

"Relaxxxx, I'm just teasing."

" Yeah... I knew that..." He mumbled before a thought popped into mind. He looked at the smiling Ichika again, who was secretly estatic that he was back in her life again, and this time it wasn't for a couple of hours.

"So Ichika..."

"Yes?" Ichika replied before yawning, which Fuutarou found cute. He scratched the back of his head.

"When we're at school, maybe during recess time, you care for a round of Sevens?" Ichika widened her eyes at his suggestion. She smiled warmly, her heart beat fastened.

"Yes. Of course, Fuutarou-kun. I hope you've improved since last time..."
