'She's going to be in one hell of a surprise when she finds out I'm going to be her tutor.' Fuutarou smirked to himself as Itsuki sat down after entering the classroom.
"Morning, Itsuki." Itsuki smiled at his greeting and nodded at him.
"Good morning, Uesugi-kun."
"Here, for you." Itsuki gasped as Fuutarou handed her a paper bag. Opening it she realized it was full of meatbuns. "My dad made extras, I hope you enjoy them." Fuutarou smiled at her. Some girls at the back of the class started squealing in delight after noticing the scene before them.
"Thank you Uesugi-kun..." She smiled, a blush on her face. Then a thought came to mind. "You said your dad made these?" She asked him. Fuutarou nodded in response.
"Yup, he runs a bakery."
"Wow, really?! What's the name of his bakery? Where's it at?" Itsuki asked excitedly.
"It's called Revival. How about we exchange phone numbers? That way I can just sent you the location and you can head there during your free time?" Itsuki nodded, taking out her phone with Fuutarou doing the same.
"Nice profile picture you have there." He commented with a smirk. Itsuki blushed and pouted a little. A literal meatbun was the girl's profile picture. "You don't have to point it out, geez...." She grumbled.
"Though, yours isn't that bad..." She couldn't help but stare at the candid photo of Fuutarou. In the profile picture, Fuutarou was wearing a black blazer draped over his shoulders, a white long sleeved shirt and black pants. Fuutarou in the picture had his hands in his pockets, looking at a certain direction.
"Hehe, thanks." Fuutarou grinned as he sent the location of his father's bakery to her. "And if you have any questions related to your studies, I'm only one text away. Or if you're just bored, I don't mind chatting with you." Fuutarou suggested. Itsuki nodded.
"Sure, I'll keep that in mind." She muttered as the teacher entered the classroom. They ended their conversation right then and there.
Class was officially in session.
...
"Does the cafeteria sell meatbuns now?" Ichika commented as Itsuki was happily munching on them. The food lover didn't answer, focusing on her food instead.
"Oh~ So that's how you're gonna play huh? I know for a fact that the cafeteria didn't have meatbuns on their menu today. So, who gave those meatbuns, huh Itsuki? Is it that Fuutarou guy?" Ichika raised her eyebrows up and down a couple of times. Itsuki widened her eyes in shock, a small blush on her face at getting caught.
"I knew it!" Ichika laughed. "Oh that's so sweet. I see he loves spoiling you Itsuki."
"I-it's not like thatt!" Itsuki denied, her mouth full of food. Nino smirked playfully as she squeezed Itsuki's chubby tummy.
"You know Itsuki, if ya keep eating like that you'll lose your curvaceous figure. Then none of the boys would like you." Itsuki glared at her sister.
"Excuse me?! I'll have you know people like my face when I'm eating!" Ichika raised an eyebrow at itsuki's statement.
"By 'people' you mean just Uesugi-kun right?"
"Sh-shut up...." Itsuki mumbled, feeling a little embarrassed. She decided just focus on her food. Nino scowled.
"Ceh! Uesugi this Uesugi that. What's so special about that guy anyway!" Nino complained. Miku looked around and noticed something, one of her sisters was missing.
"Where's Yotsuba?" She asked. Ichika shrugged as she yawned. "No idea... Haa... So sleepy..." Ichika sighed as she laid her hands on the table. The girl placed her head on her hands before dozing off.
"Hmm... I wonder where she went...."
...
'Hmm.... Teaching quintuplets doesn't sound that bad... Though...' Fuutarou pondered alone, his food already finished.
"Uesugi-san...."
'There is no way that their learning abilities are the same. They are still different people with different personalities even though they're quints, which means they struggle in different ways in various subjects.'
"Uesugi-sannnnn..."
'This may be a tough one. I gotta figure out why each quint fails instead of just stupidly hammering content into them. Which means that I have to get to know them on personal note. That's the difficult part, who knows what they think of me....'
"Uesugi-sannnnnnnnn!"
'Who the hell is calling me?' Fuutarou looked up from his pondering before he widened his eyes. It was a girl with short pink hair, bright blue eyes wearing a cute green ribbon. She was up to his face, staring at him with a warm smile.
"Hehe! You finally looked at me!" Yotsuba grinned at him. Fuutarou suddenly felt something similar to lightning run through his body. His face widened in disbelief as he stared at her. That grin... He recognized that grin....
Memories came rushing back to him. The introduction, the charms, thepictures, the sacred promises... It all came back to him in a flash. Fuutarou couldn't believe it. This was her, this was Rena. It must be!
"Hey, you're getting kind close here. I don't know about you, but it looks like you want to kiss me." He smirked at her. "I don't mind, but considering we've just met, I think it's best if we hold off on that." The girl blushed furiously as she immediately sat back down on her seat, fiddling her fingers as she laughed nervously.
"Hehehe..."
"So what's up? You must be one of itsuki's sisters. How'd you know my name?" He started the conversation. Yotsuba didn't know what to say. She herself knew that she was a bad liar, so any excuse she comes up would probably be seen through. But Fuutarou had other plans.
"Ah you probably just asked around. So what's your business with me?" He asked, smiling at her. Yotsuba grinned as she took out two pieces of paper.
"I saw something drop out of your pocket just now. I came here to return it. So which one is it?" Yotsuba help up the two mock test papers. One has a full score while the other a zero.
"Did you drop the one with 100 points or the one with 0 points?" Fuutarou chuckled, noticing her name on the zero point sheet.
'Yotsuba? Then if her name is Yotsuba, why did she tell me it was Rena? Slip of the tongue maybe?' Fuutarou thought to himself be smiling.
"The one with my name on it of course. Which should be this one." He pointed at the sheet with the 100 point score. Yotsuba grinned again.
"Hihi! That's right! Since you guessed correctly, I'll give you both of these papers as a reward!" Yotsuba happily handed Fuutarou the papers. Fuutarou raised an eyebrow.
"Thank you Yotsuba... This is the first time I've ever seen someone receive a zero."
"Y-yeah. And you got a hundred, you must be a genius..." Yotsuba muttered. Fuutarou noticed that she got a little insecure at his comment, though the second later she returned back to her cheerful expression, thinking that he didn't notice it.
Fuutarou decided to change the topic before it got awkward. "You know, this might sound weird but I think I've met you before." His words surprised Yotsuba who looked at him, feeling hopeful, praying that this person in front of her remembers her.
"Wh-what do you mean by that?" Yotsuba was stuttering, a good sign for Fuutarou as he shrugged a little. "It's probably nothing, you look like a girl I met back when I was in elementary school. She's really pretty."
"P-pretty? T-tell me more." Yotsuba leaned in, pretending to be interested while hiding here joy. This just confirms that he was the golden haired boy she met in Kyoto. For Fuutarou, this just cofnirms that she was Rena. Why else would she randomly be interested?
"Well I met her during a school trip to Kyoto. We were from different schools and both got lost. We hung out with each other. We even took photos. Look." Fuutarou took out his wallet and reached into a small compartment, taking out multiple pictures of him and Yotsuba.
"Isn't she pretty?" Yotsuba was short circuiting. Not only did he remember her, he kept their pictures in his wallet. For a girl, that kind of gesture was massively romantic, and Yotsuba thought it was the sweetest thing in the world.
"I... I...." Yotsuba stared at the photos then back at Fuutarou. She widened her eyes, noticing that he was smirking knowingly at her. Her face became red. He was teasing her, he knew who she was, and he was enjoy every single second of it. She pouted at him before she took out her own wallet.
"Th-that's funny Uesugi-san.... Because I have the s-same photos too..." She opened her wallet, showing him a transparent compartment, inside it was a picture of him and her, leaning close to each other while using their respective hands to make the heart shape. Fuutarou smiled and looked back at Yotsuba, staring into her beautiful eyes.
"It's been almost 10 years.... But we finally meet again Rena.... Or should I say, Yotsuba." Fuutarou grinned at her, his piercing eyes making her feel some sort of way.
"Did you miss me? I certainly did. I never expected we would meet here." He asked. Yotsuba blushes furiously at his words.
"Y-yeah.... I missed you too, Fuutarou-kun..." She whispered lowly, finding it embarrassing to say out loud. 'You don't know how much I've longed for you....' She thought deep down. Now it was Fuutarou's turn to blush a little. The way she said it was so cute, it made his heart beat faster.
"You know..." He muttered, causing Yotsuba to look up at him again. He smiled at her.
" You really did become a thousand times more beautiful...." He admitted. Yotsuba froze, her face becoming an impossible shade of red. She immediately avoided his gaze.
" I..... I...." Just then, the bell rang, signalling that recess time was over. Both of them jumped at the sudden ringing, Yotsuba quickly gathered herself, grabbing her wallet and standing up.
" W-well, it was nice meeting you again! See ya!" Yotsuba quickly rushed away. The girl wanted to scream out of pure embarrassment.
'KYAAAAA!!! What was that?! That was so embarrassing! I couldn't even look at him! I couldn't even speak! Ughhh! He probably thinks I'm weird!!!'
Meanwhile, Fuutarou was staring at Yotsuba running away with a smile.
"Cute...."
