Chapter 31 - Recess Talks

(In a way Tokyo Revengers is kind of ass in the reality sense, cuz why are we romanticizing gangs and violence? As an anime it's good, but when you look at in at a different perspective...)

...

"That is a nice car... I can only imagine who's in that..." Fuutarou muttered in amusement, sensing five familiar presences in the black limousine. Today, he was taking a walk to school, burning some calories after that dinner he had last night with his friends and back home with Raiha accompanying him as he ate.

'You really can't tell them apart even with Observation Haki. It's interesting how their frequencies are all the same.' He thought to himself. He wondered how he was able to tell the difference between them, then just chalked it up that he was just special like that. As he was in his musings, the door to the limousine opened.

And out stepped the quintuplets, wearing their school uniforms. Itsuki was the first to exit the car, and was the first to notice her tutor walking up the stairs to the school campus.

"Good morning, Uesugi-kun!" She greeted cheerfully. Fuutarou smiled and waved back at her. "Good morning, Itsuki. Here..." Itsuki blinked as Fuutarou handed her meatbun.

"I bought it on the way here, just for you."

"R-really? Th-thank you." She smiled, a warm blush on her face.

"Heyyy, you didn't buy one for me?" Fuutarou looked at Yotsuba who was pouting at him while crossing her arms. He smiled at the girl.

"I'll buy you something during recess then, how does that sound?" Fuutarou suggested. Yotsuba blinked. Wait, he was willing to spend on her just like that?

"Oh it's okay! I was just joking. I don't wanna make you spend more than you need to." Yotsuba shook her head repeatedly. Money isn't something that she should spend wastefully after all.

"Oh but I insist, Yotsuba. The pudding is only a few yen."

"W-well, if it's just the pudding, then I'm okay with it." She smiled at her tutor.

"Ugh, great... first thing I see when I come to school is your stupid face." Fuutarou chuckled as he heard the comment. It was obvious who that person was.

"Good morning to you too, Nino." He smirked at her. Nino glanced at him, before remembering what happened last night. How he comforted her by wiping away her tears like they were in some drama, how his big hand softly patted her head, how he gave her flowers, and how he gave her a nickname (which she still hated by the way!).

Nino scowled and looked away, not wanting him to see her flustered expression. She then took out something from her back. Fuutarou blinked as she shoved a bento box into his hands.

"Here!" She grumbled. "As an apology for what happened last night..." She whispered to him. Her sisters watched with tilted heads. Why was their sister suddenly so nice?

'Wow, that's a first. Nino making bento for someone else other than us.' Itsuki noted, questions swirling in her head. Wasn't their tutor Nino's number one enemy yesterday? Why the sudden change in attitude?

"Did you poison it?" He teased. She scowled harder and huffed. Fuutarou laughed at her reaction.

"I'm joking, Nino. Thank you for your bento, I'm sure it would be delicious."

"Well you better be grateful, I woke up earlier than usual to make this!" She pointed at him before walking away. Fuutarou shook his head.

"Wonder what's got into Nino..." He heard a sleepy voice to his right, turning to see a drowsy Ichika rubbing her eyes.

"You shouldn't sleep that late, Ichika." He smiled at her. Ichika smiled back.

"Couldn't help it, because someone decided to give us poor girls homework." She nudged him with her elbow playfully. Fuutarou chuckled.

"Speaking about that, did you girls complete it?" Ichika took out several pieces of paper and showed it to him. "All five of us completed about 80% together, the rest of the unanswered ones we didn't know." Itsuki nodded at Ichika's claim, taking out her own sheets as proof. Yotsuba grinned and did the same as her sisters.

"I'd like to ask you about some of the questions here." Itsuki brought up. She and her sisters had wracked their brains last night trying to figure out the answers but ultimately gave up in the end. But now Fuutarou was here, and she wasn't going to pass up the chance to receive his assistance.

"Sure. Maybe we can discuss it during recess?" Itsuki nodded, agreeing with the idea. The tutor looked at his other students.

"How about you girls?" Yotsuba raised her hand.

"Will I still get my pudding if I join?" Fuutarou nodded with a chuckle.

"Of course you will. But don't get too distracted by it. Maybe you'll learn something from my explanations." He replied as Ichika hummed.

"Well I was planning on getting some sleep in... but I think I can handle a few minutes of you talking...I do enjoy listening to your voice after all. Ufufu~" She teased, knowing full well that Yotsuba was staring at her, as if her staring would remind her about the agreement they made. But this is Ichika we're talking about here.

"W-well, how about you Miku?" Miku looked up from her phone and shrugged, not seeing a problem to it. Fuutarou nodded and looked at Nino who was crossing her arms, waiting for her sisters.

"Nino?" She sighed a little.

"Sure sure whatever. Just don't expect me to be a hundred percent focused on it alright? I want to eat." She grumbled before walking away. He smiled, staring at her, and couldn't help but admire her.

"You joining is better than nothing... So it's a win for me." She heard him mutter. She only huffed proudly in response.

"Hmph!"

....

"Wait, if I'm not mistaken, the teachers haven't covered this topic at all right?" Itsuki asked. She and her sisters have been listening to Fuutarou for the past few minutes, only then did the youngest quint realize.

"Yeah, are you surprised? Though for now I won't touch this year's syllabus just yet since the teachers haven't touched it. I'd like to refine what you girls already know first."

Yotsuba nodded as she listened, slowly eating her pudding. Even though it wasn't a topic they had learned in school, Fuutarou's explanation made it really easy to understand. That just confirms her beliefs that there's no other tutor better than him(no offense to her school teachers).

"Why haven't you eaten my bento yet?" Nino asked. Fuutarou raised an eyebrow at her.

"I didn't know you cared about me getting a full stomach, Nino." The girl blushed a little and glared at him, though in the back of her mind, she liked when he teased her like that.

"Oh Nino's always like this, Fuutarou-kun. Ever since you said her cookies were delicious she's been wanting more praise from you. Hence the bento." Ichika commented.

"N-no it's not! Sh-shut up Ichika!" Nino stuttered, looking away avoiding Fuutarou's gaze. Her tutor was looking at her with an amused smile. Miku smirked a little at the teasing as she drank her matcha soda to cover it. The eldest quint always knew how to push Nino's buttons.

Fuutarou opened the box and stared at what Nino made. It was neatly organized. And it smelled really damn good. If Fuutarou was completely honest, Nino was a chef that is as good as Raiha. 'She could definitely give Raiha a run for her money.' He thought as he dug in.

Nino didn't show it, but she was nervous when she noticed that Fuutarou was silent as he ate her food. His eye sparkled before looking at her.

" Are you the Goddess of Cooking or something?"

"Eh... EHH??!!"

...

"Fuutarou, what did you want to meet me for? We have to get back to class soon." Miku asked, hands behind her back. Her tutor had suddenly called her when she was about to get back to class.

"Oh it won't take long. I just want your help in something." Miku tilted her head a little.

"My help?" Miku muttered out. This was weird. Why would he come to her first? Itsuki, Yotsuba, heck even Ichika would be the better option since they're closer to him.

"Yeah, it's about your grades. I have a plan to help improve it outside our tutoring sessions. Plus, I'd like to get to know you more." Fuutarou explained.

"But why me? Why not approach Itsuki first?" Miku questioned his motives. Fuutarou shrugged.

"I don't know. You seem mysterious, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I can kinda guess your sisters' likes. For example Itsuki likes eating, Ichika likes sleeping, Yotsuba's the sporty type and Nino's the chef. But I don't know much about you, and.... I guess I'm interested in getting to know you better."

"I... I see...." Miku whispered shyly. What part of her was interesting to him? She's just a gamer girl and a history buff, what's so interesting about that? He'd probably get turned off by it.

"My guess is... you have some kind of affinity with history." Miku widened her eyes at his words. How? How did he guess that quickly? She had made sure to not even show even the slightest signs of interest in history.

"So judging by your expression it means I'm correct? And for your information, I guessed using this...." Fuutarou held up a small note.

"This is..." Miku recognized it. This was the results of their first assessment test.

"Did you notice anything in particular?" He asked. Miku narrowed her eyes in focus for a moment before realizing something.

"None of our correct answers were on the same question."

" Yup. And here's the thing, your answers on the history questions are really spot on there's literally no faults in them. So it's either you have a good memory or you just really like history. I'm really impressed." Fuutarou grinned at her. Miku looked down, her long hair hiding her small smile, enjoying the praise, especially if it's about her hobby(which she has shared to no one).

"So, which kind of period of Japanese history do you like?" Fuutarou asked, now curious. Instead of just telling him, Miku showed the wallpaper of her lockscreen, wanting him to guess. Fuutarou narrowed his eyes as he stared at it.

"Ooohh, the Takeda Diamond. You have Shingen Takeda's crest as your wallpaper? That's a really nice look not gonna lie. So I guess that means you like the Sengoku period." Miku's face was a little red, a little flustered since she thought he was going to make fun of her for having such a bland wallpaper.

"Hey, I'm not judging. My phone's wallpaper is literally the default wallpaper. So if you think yours is bland, which isn't, you should remember mine." Miku resisted a small laugh. Seriously? The default wallpaper? Who in the world uses that?

"J-just don't go around telling people that I like Sengoku Period Warlords..." She muttered. Fuutarou smiled.

"Now why would I do that, Miku? I'm more interested in why you like them?"

"Well... it all started from a game I borrowed from Yotsuba. The game's playing style is almost like those Total War games, but replace that with Sengoku Period Warlords."

"I see..." Fuutarou nodded. He could see why Miku was interested in those genres of games. She does look like someone who enjoys strategic games.

"Then I became interested in those warlords, so I started reading books about them. But..." Miku nervously wrapped her right hand around her left wrist, looking away from Fuutarou.

"But the type of men all the girls in class liked were all handsome actors or beautiful models. Meanwhile the ones I'm a fan of were old men with wild facial hair. It's..." She looked down. Fuutarou could feel her confidence, what little she had, drop down another level.

"It's weird, right...."
