Chapter 24 – Jealousy and Thunder

Fang Ye was still bawling in the hallway, squatting like a heartbroken child.

"Ten years, Boss… ten long years… I cooked, I cleaned, I risked my life—no hugs, no kisses! But she comes along and suddenly it's all fireworks and thunder! Why didn't Heaven strike me earlier?!"

Han pinched the bridge of his nose, patience thinning. He grabbed Fang Ye by the collar and dragged him toward the door like tossing out garbage.

"If you don't shut up, Fang Ye… I'll make you sleep forever."

The "tears" dried instantly. Fang Ye jumped to his feet, saluted, and bolted.

"Yes, Boss! Already asleep! Snoring! Look—Zzzzzz!"

The fool vanished down the corridor, leaving only the echo of his fake snoring.

Inside the room, Xueran had slipped to the window seat. Her maid, Zi, whispered urgently through the phone:

"Miss, you need to do something. Xun Lanyue is watching from the window across the courtyard!"

Xueran blinked innocently.

"So what?"

Zi hissed, impatient.

"Make her jealous! Hug him, kiss him, anything that drives her crazy. Otherwise, she'll think you're weak. Do it, Miss, or—"

Xueran cut her off with a soft laugh.

"Zi, I'm human too, you know. Not a tool."

Zi groaned.

"Human or not, use your weapons! Even your lips!"

But before Xueran could answer, a low growl rolled across the sky.

BOOM.

Thunder cracked, rattling the glass. Lightning flared, illuminating the room in cold blue light.

Han walked back in, closing the door firmly behind him. His gaze swept over her — sitting small and fragile against the storm-lit window.

"Scared?"

Xueran nodded slightly. The thunder boomed again, and without hesitation, she reached out, grabbing his sleeve.

Her whisper was soft, almost trembling.

"Hug."

Han's chest tightened. He pulled her close, wrapping her in his arms again. Outside, Xun Lanyue's nails dug into the wooden windowsill, her smile cracking into pure venom.

Inside, the Devil King held his "fool," thunder roaring above them — a storm outside, and another slowly brewing within.
