The storm calmed by dawn. Sunlight spilled gently into Han's room.
Qiao Xueran stirred, blinking her eyes open. She saw Han sitting in the chair beside her bed, sharp gaze fixed on her like a hawk waiting for prey.
Her heart skipped—she remembered the kiss.
But instead of panicking, she rubbed her eyes like a child and gave him the sweetest, most clueless smile.
"Good morning… Boss Han~"
Han's jaw tightened.
"Good morning? Is that all you have to say?"
Xueran tilted her head innocently.
"Mm… should I say… thank you?"
Han's eyes narrowed. He leaned closer, his voice low.
"You kissed me last night."
Xueran blinked, feigning shock, then slapped her own lips dramatically.
"Ahhh! Was that a kiss? I thought… I bumped into a wall!"
Han's mouth twitched.
"A wall?"
She nodded vigorously.
"Yes! A warm wall. Strong wall. The kind of wall that… smells like whiskey and trouble."
Even Han couldn't stop the corner of his lips from twitching upward.
Just then, the door creaked—Fang Ye peeked in, still holding his soup tray.
"Boss… do you want breakfast for two or… should I prepare a wedding banquet already?"
Han's glare hit him like a bullet.
"OUT."
Fang Ye yelped and slammed the door shut.
Xueran covered her mouth, giggling softly, her eyes gleaming with secret victory.
