Chapter 23 – Interrupted

The room was quiet, heavy with the sound of Xueran's breathing against Han's chest. His hand rested protectively on her back, his dark eyes staring out into the night.

Finally, her body went still — pretending to sleep. Han's gaze softened slightly. For once, the Devil King lowered his guard.

And then—

BANG!

The door flew open with a crash loud enough to wake the dead.

Fang Ye stumbled in, carrying a tray of steaming soup and a very self-important expression.

"Boss! I slaved in the kitchen for three whole hours. Three! Do you know how hard it is to boil bones? My delicate hands were not made for—"

His voice cut off when his eyes landed on the scene: his cold, untouchable boss, holding Qiao Xueran in his arms.

The tray slipped. Soup sloshed. His jaw hit the floor.

"W–W–WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE UNDERWORLD IS THIS?!"

Han's eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Get. Out."

Fang Ye clutched his chest like he'd been stabbed.

"Ten years, Boss! Ten years of loyalty, no hugs, no 'thank you, Fang Ye,' not even a pat on the head! And now this girl bats her lashes and suddenly you're— you're cuddling? Hugging? Spooning?!"

Xueran peeked one eye open from Han's arms, blinking innocently.

"Fang Ye… jealous?"

Fang Ye gasped like a fish out of water.

"JEALOUS?! Me?! Of course not! I—"

Han's glare sharpened.

"Three seconds."

Fang Ye yelped, spun around, and bolted out of the room — nearly slipping on his own soup. His dramatic wail echoed down the hallway:

"Why didn't I die before seeing this?!"

Han sighed heavily, pressing his forehead against Xueran's hair.

"Ignore him."

Xueran stifled a giggle. But deep inside, she was thinking:The more chaos around him… the easier my revenge will be.
