Chapter 19 - Teleportation

They both entered the open area and Edrin stepped aside while still holding his solar plexus. He wanted to see what Kael had to offer. Quite honestly he was still in disbelief that he lost but he put all the blame on getting too shocked.

"Kael my ability is related to ice and cold. What about you?"

Kael heard Elara and fell into a dilemma about which ability he should show. Both his abilities might raise eyebrows just like Seris's ability. None of them knew that he had any bloodline as his hair had just turned a little darker and his eyes a little greyish.

These things didn't define if he had any bloodline or not. 'Well, let's use only the bloodline ability then'..." The ability I am going to use is similar to teleportation, so be aware."

Elara, Edrin and even Seris got surprised. Teleportation ability was counted as one of the best abilities in the world. The prospect of having it was immensely beneficial in a dangerous corrupted world.

"Damn, you are joking right?" Edrin didn't believe it. If it was true then wouldn't it mean that his trait was Supreme level? There was no way this guy could have passed a Supreme trial.

Kael didn't pay any attention to Edrin. "Should we start?"

"Okay..." Elara became attentive. If she was really facing someone with teleportation ability then defending was the most obvious choice. "By the way don't you want a weapon?"

Kael thought for a moment and moved his hand up. "Summon Knife." A knife materialized in his hand. It was a function of this room. You could get any weapon. "Alright, here I come."

Just as he said that he used Void Step. Right now he wanted to step behind Elara and when he thought that he appeared there. He didn't know how he traveled but he was where he wanted to be.

After arriving behind Elara he put his knife on her neck and to his surprise Elara wasn't able to do anything.

Elara was ready but she still was shocked seeing him teleport so silently. The most shocking thing was there was no disturbance in the space where he was standing previously. Was teleportation really that silent?

She was waiting to see some kind of tearing in the space like all teleportation vortexes in the city which connected to other cities but it seemed he could teleport without doing anything like that. She smiled. "I lost... hehehe... that's a cool ability. Is it a Supreme trait?"

Kael removed the knife and made it disappear by saying disappear. "I will leave that to your imagination."

"Damn..." Edrin shook his head in disbelief. It seemed that the reason Kael didn't mention his trait was similar to theirs. Although at least their trait was already known to some people.

"Let's leave now. We know each other's ability. We can work around something."

Elara said and the others didn't deny.

....

Calmly one week passed and the last day of the vortex opening came.

They all were standing inside a big hall where there was nothing but a small stage with a Genesis crystal embedded in it.

Kael looked at it while sighing. 'It's finally time...'

That crystal was similar to the Genesis crystal one used to awaken but it was also used to create Genesis vortexes.

If you used 100 Tainted cores or Genesis cores it would create a portal to a world which was corrupted and it would be a grade one portal which would only allow passage of Latents.

The area it would teleport you to was also considered safe but the main benefit was returning back. Every Latent going through this would receive a mark which they could activate using 100 Tainted cores.

Once they activated that mark it would create a portal which would take them back to this exact place. Other members of their team could use this portal too as it stayed active for at least five seconds.

So basically the whole team had to gather a total of 100 Tainted creature cores and they would be able to come back safely.

This was very important as returning was almost impossible from a corrupted world unless humans had captured some permanent corrupted vortexes for themselves.

There were only two such worlds where humans had captured some areas using corruption vortexes and the chance of going to those worlds and finding such a place was almost impossible.

Kael looked at everyone standing in the field. None were showing any kind of enthusiasm. The simple reason for it was the mortality rate of returning back was as low as 20%.

So basically according to stats 80% of them would perish. So who would be happy right now as this was almost equivalent to giving a Supreme trial.

The most disheartened and frightened might be those who had Normal traits. Although Genesis always sent them to a location where their chance of survival was highest their mortality rate was the highest.

Going to another world for the first time was also a must since the collapse of your Latent core meant certain death.

"Listen everyone, I won't say big words as I am never good at cheering people but remember one thing. No matter how strong you are..." Aelith spoke solemnly. "If you feel even a little fear looking at something then just run... never ever discard your instincts."

This made everyone tremble a little. They all engraved those words in their souls. Maybe it wasn't meant to just scare them to behave in the corrupted world. Nonetheless they would take it seriously.

"Alright then, it's time for you guys to leave. May Genesis watch over you..." Aelith said and made her way to the stone platform. She took out 100 cores and placed them around the Genesis crystal.

Just in the blink of an eye those cores disappeared and the crystal shone with a unique brilliance, blinding almost everyone in the hall.

When they were able to see they all saw a long tear in space above the stone platform. It was like some sword had sliced the air leaving a scar.
