Chapter 21 - Bigger Core

He just had to make sure that he used Void Step before he hit the platform and it seemed the time had come. He immediately thought of orientation and used it.

He disappeared and appeared just a little above the platform before getting flung upward with the same speed as he was falling before.

He moved quite a while but stopped eventually and used Void Step again to land on the pillar. 'Finally.'

The city was a lot clearer from this pillar and when he looked above he was finally able to see the sheer size of the fallen beast. It was humongous. 'Who the hell killed it...'

Suddenly he squinted his eyes as he saw black dots falling from the area which was its belly.

'What is that...'

They were too small to be seen clearly but it didn't take long as they finally came close enough to be seen roughly and when he saw that a chill ran down his spine.

There were hundreds of spiders raining towards him. Not raining—they were definitely connected with their spider webs. 'Fuck.'

With their speed they would probably reach him in a minute or so. Given their numbers even if those spiders were weaker beasts he didn't want to mess with them given the amount of Genesis energy he had.

If these spiders were descendants of this humongous slain spider then their bloodline potential would be off the charts.

'No time to think.' Kael immediately ran towards the edge of the pillar and jumped down. The distance to the ground was roughly 300 meters or so from here.

He applied the same tactics and by using Void Step he made it to the ground and started running inside the crater. He had to find the others soon. This pillar wasn't even close to being considered a grouping point.

.....

When Kael came on top of the crater he looked towards the spiders and finally sighed in relief as they were going back.

Looking at the monstrous spider from this vantage point he felt quite the trepidation. He could only imagine what terror it would have caused before dying.

He had to give it to the warriors of this city as the city looked totally untouched from above. From here though only a massive silver wall was visible to him.

He picked up his speed as he could see the two suns or whatever the stars of this planet were about to set. It seemed both of these stars were revolving in equilibrium with each other.

When he arrived at the silver wall he couldn't find any entrance from this side. Maybe there was one just a little farther but he really didn't want to waste more time not at night after passing an Extreme trial.

'I am using a lot of Genesis energy. I have to be careful.'

He used his Void Step and appeared just a little above the wall and landed on it. It was close to 100 meters in height.

There was one very big advantage he had with his Genesis core: its size. The higher the trait was in rank the bigger the Genesis core was. This factor was again influenced by the bloodline so he had what you could call one of the biggest Genesis cores a human can have without absorbing any corruption crystals.

So the amount of Genesis energy he had was far more compared to his peers but his void step also consumed a considerable amount of Genesis energy so he didn't know how much advantage he really had.

When he crossed the thick wall and came to the other side he saw the old sprawling city. There were lots of spider webs covering here and there.

The buildings had quite a unique design. None of the buildings were bigger than three stories. Some of them had pointed roofs, some had slanted but none had a proper type of roof. There were also quite a lot of spiders moving around the buildings. 'Dammit, these bugs.'

Why the heck were there so many? As far as he had heard Latents were sent into places where there weren't many corrupted beasts. There were only enough for one cluster of corruption crystals.

After that Latents found other crystals actively but given the amount of corrupted beasts here he had a feeling that he could find more than one cluster of corruption crystals in this city itself.

This had a plus point as they didn't have to look for them a lot but it also had a downside. The amount of beasts would pose significant danger—

BOOOOMMM!

Kael was forced to see a blazing blast not far from his vantage point. Even a small mushroom cloud was formed above the area.

'Are there other Latents here?'

The possibility was low but never zero. What should he do? This wall was a perfect place to meet up if his teammates were coming for the golden pillar.

Kael gritted his teeth and was about to just go when someone crossed the street leading to that area and was running towards this wall. He was surprised as this was none other than Seris. 'When did she have such an explosive ability? Was this her real trait?'

As Seris came closer to the wall occasionally one or two spiders would jump around her but she would always evade them calmly. Suddenly she looked up and her eyes met with Kael.

Kael wanted to say hi but given the fact she was getting attacked and was busy dodging he just stayed quiet. Seris didn't take long and made it to the base of the wall and unlike outside the wall here there were stairs just a little to the left where they could easily climb to the top of it.

The spiders were still chasing her so she stopped once and looked behind before pointing her hand towards them. A bluish energy orb formed in her palm before it shot towards the incoming horde and—

BOOOOMMMMM!

Kael got wide-eyed as he felt the tremor of the blast from his location. He couldn't believe that it was an attack from a Latent. The whole street got broken along with the houses nearby. As for the spiders they were all incinerated.
