"Ah— Yes." Kael immediately nodded and began concentrating on his pastry. In doing so he missed the strange glint in Seris's eyes.
They ate for a few bites when Elara, who thought it was a good time, decided to ask Seris about the team. "Miss Seris, would you like—I mean, would you like to take us as a team for the first expedition?"
Kael was dumbfounded at her change of tone. Nonetheless both options meant the same thing.
Seris who was also eating a pastry with strawberry flavour spoke nonchalantly. "Sure."
This wasn't unheard by others who were paying close attention to this table. Some of them even went to fill the ears of the scion.
Elara on the other hand was quite happy. "That's good then. Should we invite someone else?"
Seris just shrugged her shoulders. "Your choice."
"Then there is no need. We are more than enough... Should we enter the Genesis virtual space to see each other's fighting skills?" Edrin spoke immediately.
The Genesis virtual space was still in the development phase but the academy already had one working.
"Sounds good to me. What about you Miss Seris?"
"Alright..."
"Then it's done. Let's go after eating." Edrin was excited.
Kael just watched as the whole discussion was completed without his involvement. Did they not care about his opinion? Although he wasn't against it.
Today they were given some free time. That's why he had visited the cafeteria anyway.
....
After eating they left the cafeteria and made their way into a building known as the Genesis Virtual Space.
This was one of the advanced technologies Earth had. It was a virtual world where people could visit with their avatars. These avatars were perfect copy of yourself made by genesis energy.
You could use all your abilities be it bloodline or trait.
You could book a private space just for your group and no one could record any kind of data from you or you could go public. It was your choice.
Kael didn't know how much of that was true but it wouldn't matter if they got data on them. As just by looking at skills no one could deduce much.
The procedure to book a space wasn't hard and they immediately got one. After entering inside they saw five pods. These were sleeping pods meant to connect to the virtual space.
"Man I wonder when they would release this for the whole world. I will spend most of my time in there." Edrin moved his hand on one of the pods.
"Well it won't be long. They were already advertising it. Maybe once we come back from our expedition it would already be in effect..." Elara picked one beside Edrin and opened it.
Kael and Seris picked one for themselves and opened them. They all lay inside and the pod closed itself. All they had to do was close their eyes and when they did their perceptions changed.
They didn't have to do anything. They just appeared in a closed square room which was 100 meters long and wide. Kael moved his hands and felt exactly like reality.
Edrin stretched himself. "Now we don't have to hold back. So who wants to face me... beware I won't show mercy."
There was no need to show mercy. In fact it was encouraged to fight to the death in the Genesis virtual space as it strengthened your will. Kael didn't doubt that claim at all since you could feel almost the same pain here without dying actually.
Well he had died twice in reality so he didn't care about dying virtually. Just as he thought it wouldn't be bad to fight this muscle head someone beat him to it.
Seris was already standing in the open area looking towards Edrin calmly.
Edrin smiled and clenched his fist before punching the marble floor.
THUDDD!
Crack!
A small crack formed at the place he hit.
"Are you sure Miss Seris? I don't discriminate against gender."
Kael looked at the floor and hit with his leg and found it was quite sturdy. It seemed the trait this muscle head got was also related to his strength. What a fitting trait for him.
Seris glanced at the cracks nonchalantly. "It's good that you don't hold back."
Edrin stood up. "I don't think we need any arbiter so here I come."
Kael watched as Edrin dashed towards Seris who was standing as composed as one could get in a fight. More than that would be disregard to their opponent.
The moment Edrin came close to Seris he went for an uppercut. His punch moved like an unstoppable force but suddenly something strange happened. Its speed began slowing down and before it reached Seris it was so slow that Seris just dodged it by stepping away.
Edrin's eyes widened and he immediately put some distance and looked at Seris warily.
Seris didn't give Edrin a chance to contemplate much and moved towards him. Her speed was slow but suddenly her speed increased without any extra effort from her. She was already in hand's distance from Edrin.
Edrin got too shocked and before he could think of anything Seris's palm landed on his solar plexus.
"Gueghhhhhh..."
Edrin was thrown a little away while blood gushed out of his mouth. He kneeled and looked at Seris with a horrified expression. "Time manipulation?"
Although he said that he himself didn't believe it as the last palm hit him far stronger than what Seris could achieve with her strength.
Seris shrugged. "You can think whatever you like." She walked back and stood aside.
Kael was stunned too. He really couldn't understand what her trait was. Maybe it was her bloodline ability but no matter what it was she only used one ability.
"Cough! Kael, should we have a nice spar?" Elara was stunned too but she came out of her stupor quickly. She also thought that it might be an amazing bloodline ability of Seris. She didn't even think that it was a trait ability.
The reason was simple. Both she and her brother held Supreme traits so it was impossible to have such a difference.
Kael nodded. "Alright."
