Freya's Pov :
The door of my room bursts open and the book falls from my lap as i get a jump scare.
Aunt and Candice stands there dressed to the nines for the Christmas dinner.
Aunt's gaze was murderous while Candice had a smug expression as if she was here to see a show.
The dinner must be still going on,what are they doing here?
"Aunt?"I call out in confusion."Do you need something-"Slap
My cheek burn's as i slowly cover it and look up at the Women who is hovering above me with an ugly expression.
"You ugly bastard!How dare you embarrass me in front of so many guests??She snapped jabbing her finger at my forehead and pushing me back.
"What?I don't understand.What are you saying aunt?"I say but my voice comes out so low and soft that i feel ashamed of myself.
"Oh please,don't act innocent Freya.You ruined the entire dinner and practically poisoned everyone."Candice says from behind."Do you know how long mom has been preparing for this dinner and how hard she worked to invite all those people?"
My stomach twisted as i frown."What do you mean?l
"There was a mice in the beef casserole!The main dish!And who was in charge of cooking today?Who made it?You!"Aunt say's angrily."You bitch!You did this just to take revenge right?Because i asked you to cook!You pretended to be nice docile in front of Nathan and said that you would do it!And then did this!Why did you do this?Did i force you to cook?"

I stand frozen in my place.
"No,how could there be a mice in the main dish?There must be a mistake.I didn't do it!Why would i?"I say trying to explain myself."Aunt,please believe me.I would never do this!"
"Leave it mom.She just knows how to pretend to be good in front of dad.A pretentious person like her would never admit it."Candice say's fanning aunt's anger.
"Candice!Can you please stop being like this?I said i didn't do this!What would i even gain by doing this?"
"You hate mom so much.You want me to believe you would let such a good opportunity to embarrass her go?Moreover,who did this if not you?"She asks smugly knowing full well that no one would suspect her.
Even if i say that she did this,aunt and uncle would never believe me.Rather they would hate be more for pointing finger at their precious daughter.
"Do you know how much of a mess you have created for Nathan today?The project we have been working so hard for will be given to someone else now!All because of you!The moment you stepped into my house 10 years ago all happiness of my family disappeared.A jinx like you should have died with your parents!"Aunt snaps and i take a step back as if someone slapped me.
"Jannis!Shut up,what do you think you are saying?"Uncle say's coming inside.
"Did i say anything wrong?A jinx like her even devoured her own parents.She brings bad luck wherever she goes Nathan!"Aunt say's pushing away uncle's hand."Send her away for good!"
They keep arguing and arguing back and forth for long but nothing reaches my ears.
It's as if everything has blanked out.Except a word.

I look down at my trembling hand's and remember the day 10 years ago when mom was lying lifeless in my arms,blood oozing out of her body,painting the seat red.
I was still a kid but it felt like my heart was being ripped.I wished i could have protected them.
I still remember her lifeless eyes.As if the god took away loving my mother and gave me a puppet of the same face.It was so familiar yet so creepy.Her always love filled eyes were so empty that i still find myself drowning in that nothingness.
..Do i really bring bad luck?
Will i devour uncle too?
I gulp and slowly look up when i feel uncle calling my name."Freya?"
"U-Uncle?"I reply in a hoarse voice.He frown's and shakes his head,turning away from me."Don't take uncle wrong Freya.But you are already 18.How about you move out in a few days?"
