Chapter 1 - Ch:1 A War against death

The smell of blood and gunpowder lingered in the air, the sounds of explosions, gun shots and screaming of people could be heard.

His body felt weak, unable to move, it was hard for him to breathe, like something was on his chest preventing his lungs from expanding and taking in air.

He felt something heavy crushing his body, his whole body was in pain, his left leg was more in pain, maybe he had broken his bone.

He freed his hands from the rubble, pushed aside the heavy tuff from him. They Were Some straws bound together like a sheet and hardened mud.

It looked like a house had collapsed on him but luckily he had survived with just his left leg's bone broken and scratches all over his body. He stood up in front of him…

Chaos consumed the area, the sky red like blood, fire burning down houses, people running, people in armor chased them. Their armor was shining white like the moon, they were holding small cannons. Some shot slowly while others could shoot a barrage at a blink of an eye.

The boy staggered forward, barefoot, wearing simple farmer's clothes, mud and ash sticking to his skin.

'What is going on?..'

'Are the Heavens not happy with us?..'

'What are the weapons the attackers are holding? It does not look like any weapons I know'

'Divine Weapon of the gods?..'

Many such questions lingered in his mind. But he did not have the time or luxury for further thoughts. He dragged his injured leg to get out of this place.

He moved within difficulty looking for something.

Then something caught his eye. It was a small corner of cloth, yellow, sticking out from the rubble. Blood was flowing from the gaps between the rubble.

He hesitated for some reason. Then knelt.

He pushed aside the broken wood and scattered stones. Underneath lay a young girl, maybe ten years old. Her small body was crushed under the debris. Blood seeped from between the stones. But she was still alive.

Her hand trembled upward, reaching for him. Her lips moved, forming words he could not understand. A prayer, a plea, or a goodbye. He could not make it out properly.

When he was about to hold her hands, he heard a bell ringing slowly. It sounded like a bell used to tie around a cow's neck.

Silence followed, he slowly turned to see that it was not a cow but an ox. A giant, muscular one. On top of the ox sat a man taller than any human but not a giant. Time seems to hold its breath.

He wore a dark dhoti, worn and frayed, like it has walked across centuries. A shawl draped over one shoulder, patterns shifting faintly like smoke.

His skin, dusty black. His eyes shimmered like fire without flame, calm without mercy, a coal red irises . His expression is unreadable. He stood still, looking like a statue carved from the shadows of a dying sun.

He had a silver halo behind him. Making him look like an angle but he is far from an angle...

The halo had two rods wrapped in a black leather, which were sticking out from the top in a w-shape.

He grabbed the two rods and split the halo in two.

The halo became short sickle like scythes on each hand. The weapon was shaped like the farming tools. Handles were slightly curved, with faint silver patterns that looked like veins of cold moonlight running through them. The metal looks liquid yet solid. The tips curve inward sharply.

It approached the girl. The boy gasped and shouted "No! No! Don't take her! Please Don't Take her away from me! She still has a long life ahead of her!"

The mysterious person did not react or respond.

"Please! I beg you to let her go! She is not going to die yet!" the boy cried weeped but the man did not listen

Then the man got off the ox and pointed one of the silver scythe towards the girl.

"Please, she is still a child! Please don't take her away from me, she is the only family I have! Please!".

He did not reply to the boy and raised the scythe he had been holding on his right hand, up to the back of his head and slammed it straight towards the girl's neck. A blue smoke came out of her body and went into the scythe.
