Chapter 31 – Stolen Moments & Uninvited Company 💕😂
Jay's POV
Peace was rare. I knew that. That's why, after the banquet storm, I decided to cling to it as long as possible.
Keifer didn't complain, of course. In fact, he was acting like a bodyguard, chauffeur, personal assistant, and—ugh—sometimes like a koala that refused to let go.
"Do you seriously have to follow me everywhere?" I asked, raising a brow as he trailed me down the school hallway.
He gave me that maddening smirk. "Someone has to protect the famous CEO of Crownveil."
"Correction—" I leaned closer, whispering, "—no one knows that part of me here."
His eyes twinkled. "Doesn't matter. You're still mine."
I rolled my eyes so hard I swear they almost fell out. "Possessive much?"
"Yes."
😤 I wanted to strangle him and kiss him at the same time.

Keifer's POV
She had no idea. No idea how impossible it was to take my eyes off her.
Jay walked ahead, chin high, untouchable like the queen she was, yet still laughing with classmates like she was just another Section E student. That duality? It killed me.
And the worst part?
Our classmates noticed too.
"Jayyy! Over here!" Denzel waved obnoxiously from the canteen table. The rest of Section E cheered like she was their celebrity mascot.
I glared. They were too comfortable. Way too comfortable.
When Felix pulled out a chair for her, I almost crushed the cup in my hand.
Mine.

Section E's POV (collective chaos 😂)
"Bro, she's glowing today."
"Of course, she is. She's our Jay."
"Wait, wait—why is Watson sitting beside her again? Doesn't he have some rich-boy CEO meeting to attend?"
"Maybe he's her… uh… shadow?"
"Shadow my ass. Look at the way he's staring at her—like he's ready to fight us all if we breathe too close."
"Damn, imagine being protected by a walking black card."
"Shut up before he hears you!"
They all pretended not to notice Keifer's death glare… but whispered anyway. 🤭

Jay's POV
"Honestly, you're acting like a sulky cat," I muttered as Keifer sat beside me, his arm resting way too casually on the back of my chair.
"Cat?" His voice dropped low. "More like a wolf. And right now, I'm guarding what's mine."
My cheeks warmed despite myself. Damn this man. 😤💖
Still, I wasn't about to give him the satisfaction.
"Fine, wolf. But don't cry when my pack here kicks you out," I said, gesturing at Section E who were snickering like idiots.
"Let them try," he muttered, eyes never leaving me.
I sipped my juice calmly, smirk tugging at my lips. This man really doesn't know what he signed up for.

Later that evening…
We snuck out of school together, escaping the noise of Section E and their endless teasing. Keifer insisted on driving me home.
Inside the car, the silence was thick but comfortable. He reached for my hand on the gear shift, intertwining our fingers smoothly.
I raised a brow. "You're bold today."
He kissed the back of my hand without breaking eye contact. "I don't have to be bold, Jay. I just have to be real. And the truth is, I don't care if the whole damn world knows—I want you."
🔥💖 My heart wasn't prepared. Damn him again.
I looked out the window quickly, masking my smile with fake annoyance. "You're lucky I don't throw you out of your own car."
He chuckled low. "If you did, I'd just run back to you."

Just as I softened into his warmth, my phone buzzed again.
The same encrypted number.
"Tick-tock, CEO. Time's almost up."
I swallowed hard, quickly locking the screen before Keifer noticed.
But he wasn't stupid. His grip on my hand tightened.
"Jay," he said seriously. "What aren't you telling me?"
I forced a smirk, leaning closer to kiss his cheek. "Patience, Mr. Watson. You'll find out… soon enough."
💋 He froze at the kiss, distracted long enough for me to hide the storm brewing inside.
Because peace was nice.
But it was fragile.
And I knew it wouldn't last.
