The heart of Neon, this international metropolis.
Now, it was scarred and ravaged—all due to Kenjaku's Barrier Domain.
Fortunately, Chen Tian didn't want to see his little sun depressed.
The originally scheduled twenty days of bloody chaotic fighting? It was completely concluded in just over ten minutes after he made his move.
Cursed Spirits? Cursed Users? That had appeared across Neon during the Culling Game?
Under the Yamato sword, all beings were equal. The clearing was finished in about ten minutes.
He forcefully suppressed the destructive game to its absolute minimum.
Even more bizarre was the speed of reconstruction.
It was incredibly fast!
Destroyed skyscrapers, fractured streets, collapsed public facilities…
It was as if a fast-forward button had been pressed, and they were restoring right on the spot with a click-click-click.
The entire nation of Neon transformed into a construction fanatic.
It was unclear whether they had sought expertise from the University of Tokyo or if this world had gone through an Ultraman episode before Chen Tian crossed over.
Because of the reconstruction experience gained, within just one week after the Culling Game ended.
The entire East Tokyo had recovered to about eighty percent of its previous state.
Chen Tian and his little sun—Kitagawa Marin—were also planning to take the Shinkansen back to East Tokyo.
Not because he couldn't open a portal, but because Marin, a week ago, felt that since they were going back to school soon, why not turn the journey into a scenic trip back to East Tokyo?
And so—a blind box journey of randomly buying tickets, randomly getting off, regardless of direction or destination, began.
"Next stop is—Hakodate!" Marin stood on her tiptoes, poking the ticket machine screen, the tips of her blonde hair brushing Chen Tian's nose. "No peeking at the ticket destination!"
Chen Tian smiled and nodded, letting her pull out the two random tickets.
Had this silly girl forgotten that she had just called out the destination?
As the station announcement sounded, the girl folded the map into a paper airplane, which landed perfectly in the trash can: "From now on, we leave everything to fate!"
At the Mt. Hakodate observation deck at 5:00 AM, Marin, bundled in Chen Tian's jacket, was nibbling on creamed corn. She suddenly tugged at his scarf: "Look!"
The morning light pierced the clouds, the outline of the bay gilded in gold. Her eyelashes were dusted with frost, but her smile was radiant.
Chen Tian pressed the shutter—the lens captured a sun brighter than the million-dollar night view.
In the afternoon at the Kanemori Warehouse District, she tried squid ice cream from twenty different shops, finally snatching the only normal vanilla cone from Chen Tian's hand: "Idiot Boyfriend-kun, you can only eat it after I've tasted it~"
After spending a day in Hakodate, Marin again dragged Chen Tian to the station.
She bought tickets randomly again, turned to look at Chen Tian, who was standing behind her with a soft smile, and wrinkled her nose playfully.
She waved her small hand and led the way, a proud smile plastered on her small face.
"Come on, next stop."
The two soon arrived at their new destination—Aomori.
Right after getting off the train, Marin noticed an onsen advertisement on a billboard inside the station.
"Apple Onsen?" Marin's eyes sparkled, fixed on the main feature advertised by the inn on the billboard.
That night, in the milky white bath floating with red apples, she suddenly pressed Chen Tian against the side of the pool: "Don't move!"
Her finger traced his collarbone. "This is where I bit you last time in Zukou… hmm? Why is it gone?" The steam on the water blurred her ear tips, which had suddenly turned red.
The next morning, she ran through an apple orchard wearing a yukata, the hem of her skirt sweeping the white blossoms on the ground.
The elderly fruit farmers smiled and handed them freshly squeezed juice: "It's good to be young."
Chen Tian looked at the cup rim, stained with lipstick, and quietly bought ten boxes of apples to be delivered back to East Tokyo.
In front of the Shinkansen platform, Marin stood on her tiptoes looking at the ticket machine: "This time, let's buy for Sendai! I heard the beef tongue there is super—delicious!"
Chen Tian put the freshly bought strawberry daifuku into her mouth: "Didn't you say yesterday you wanted to go to Kanazawa?"
"Mmm…" Marin chewed the confection with bulging cheeks, then her eyes lit up suddenly. "Then let's flip a coin to decide!" She fumbled a five-hundred-yen coin out of her shorts pocket, sparkling in the sunlight.
The coin traced a parabola. Heads for Kanazawa, tails for Sendai.
The coin got stuck in the drain.
"Hahahaha—" Marin laughed so hard she clung to Chen Tian's arm. "Then let's go to the station platform where the next train stops!"
And so, Sendai's beef tongue turned into Kanazawa's gold leaf ice cream.
Marin held up the glittering sweet cone for a selfie. Chen Tian's figure was reflected perfectly in the shop window's reflection.
On the fourth day in Nagoya, Marin insisted on trying the legendary "fried chicken wing challenge"—eating ten extremely spicy wings in ten minutes.
She ended up crying from the spice and burrowing into Chen Tian's arms for kisses.
On the fifth day in a machiya in Kyoto, the innkeeper mistook them for newlyweds and insisted on giving them matching couple yukata.
Once Marin put hers on, she refused to take it off. In her words: I'm going to wear it to school so those women who are eyeing you will see, hmph~
Thinking of this, she happily clacked her geta sandals across the courtyard to feed the koi fish.
On the evening of the seventh day, when the silhouette of the Tokyo Tower finally appeared on the horizon, Marin suddenly pulled out all their train tickets from the week and tied them into a small bundle with a rubber band.
"This is going into our memory box!" She tucked the tickets into Chen Tian's chest pocket, poking his heart with her finger.
Chen Tian looked at her charming expression and smiled, ruffling her blonde hair: "Alright, I'll do whatever you say."
Marin cutely wrinkled her small nose at him, then immediately pulled out her phone, her fingers flying across the screen.
It turned out that for this entire week, every carefully selected couple photo and every sweet moment—cuddling while watching the sunrise on Mt. Hakodate, playing in the Aomori onsen, their figures reflected in the Kanazawa shop window… had already been plastered all over her social media.
The key point: she tagged Shinomiya Kaguya and a few other names in every post—"Ice Block Poison Tongue Girl," "Random Girl," and "Drawn Book Sister."
The light from the phone screen reflected on her smug smile.
She tapped on the post with the most comments. Underneath was a reply from "The Young Lady," delivered in the Shinomiya family's characteristic elegant tone, yet reeking of jealousy between the lines: "Enjoy your travels. Some people clearly have too much free time."
Another comment with an anime avatar (labeled "Drawn Book Sister") was more direct: "Material get √"
There was also a string of sarcastic lemon emojis.
"Hehehehe~" Marin looked at the comments. Far from being annoyed, she snuggled into Chen Tian's embrace with her phone, giggling like a cat that had successfully stolen fish, her shoulders shaking.
"Look how jealous they are!"
Chen Tian lowered his head to glance at the screen, then looked at the little sun in his arms who was clearly "staking her claim." He chuckled: "Little bundle of vinegar."
"I am not!" Marin immediately retorted, but the corners of her mouth curled higher. Her finger quickly jabbed at the screen, likely liking one of the sour comments.
The two were dragging their suitcases just outside the Shinkansen gate, blending into the station's noisy crowd.
Marin immediately placed her index finger on her lips, her small face wrinkling as she tried hard to think: "Hmm~ Where should we stay tonight? That place with the starry ceiling last time? Or the one with the full view of the Tokyo Tower? Oh, this is so frustrating…"
Chen Tian didn't interrupt her. He just smiled, watching her troubled expression, and quietly followed beside her, pushing the luggage.
Chen Tian's phone rang. "Unknown Number" was flashing on the screen.
He casually answered: "Hello?"
"Yo~ Nero little guy!" Gojo Satoru's exaggerated yet slightly mocking voice came through the receiver. "You're back?"
Chen Tian raised an eyebrow, staying silent.
"Don't play dumb!" Gojo Satoru's voice was laced with laughter. "Surprise! Come out the South Exit quickly! I'm here to pick you up! And I brought—"
Chen Tian cleanly hung up the phone. The screen went dark.
He turned to Marin, who was still counting hotels on her fingers, and his voice softened: "Marin, have you decided? Where are we staying tonight?"
Hearing this, Marin pouted in distress, deflating like a little pufferfish: "Mmm… it's so hard to choose!"
She suddenly turned and rubbed against Chen Tian's arm, cuddling him. "I feel like no matter which hotel we choose, it won't be as comfortable as sleeping in our own little place~"
She looked up, her red contact lens eyes carrying a mix of pleading and expectation: "How about… we go home?"
Chen Tian's lips curved into a wry smile at the word "home."
Since his one-family house in Suginami Ward had been utterly destroyed during the recent chaos, he hadn't paid any attention to it—nor had any calls come in for reconstruction or debris cleanup.
That place was likely still a mess.
Marin saw his wry smile and instantly realized—she had completely forgotten about it!
Her small face immediately fell. She remorsefully stuck out her pink tongue: "Ah! Right…"
But the next second, she suddenly hugged Chen Tian's arm tightly, bouncing on the spot like a fully charged little sun: "Never mind! Ten-kun, I've decided! Come on, let's go to the Taxi stand!"
She beamed a brilliant smile, as if the small hiccup had never happened, instantly dispelling that trace of gloom with her unique vitality. "I'll lead the way!"
Chen Tian watched her energetic demeanor, and the slight sense of helplessness in his heart instantly vanished, replaced only by warmth.
He smiled and nodded: "Alright."
The two had just reached the dedicated taxi waiting area, dragging their luggage, when they stopped short.
Diagonally ahead, an extremely noticeable white-haired figure was casually squatting atop the metal railing of the waiting area. Even wearing a black blindfold, the triumphant smile of "I got you" was palpable.
It was Gojo Satoru.
And standing on the sidewalk next to him were his three students:
Itadori Yuji was all smiles, waving vigorously: "Nero! Over here!"
Kugisaki Nobara cupped her cheeks, her eyes full of stars: "It really is Nero! Nero!!"
Fushiguro Megumi was the quietest, merely nodding slightly to the pair: "Nero-senpai."
Gojo Satoru lightly jumped down from the railing, his long legs covering the few steps to the couple. His voice was drawn out and teasing: "Well, well, well~ I told you I was coming to pick you up, why did you hang up on me?"
Ignoring Chen Tian's slight frown, he clapped Chen Tian on the shoulder: "What, nowhere to crash?"
A mischievous grin stretched under his blindfold: "I knew it. Your little house was demolished, wasn't it? Couldn't find even a single intact tatami mat, huh?"
Chen Tian raised his arm, easily pushing Gojo Satoru's hand off his shoulder: "Didn't Nanami Kento tell you all? Don't bother me."
"Oh~ No—" Gojo Satoru immediately clutched his chest, striking an exaggerated pose of distress. His voice was so full of grievance it could be wrung out: "Nero-kun, you're so cruel! My heart is shattered!"
Chen Tian couldn't be bothered by his dramatic performance. His gaze swept around—sure enough, Yuji's shout of "Nero" had caused ripples in the dense crowd.
Many passersby were looking over curiously, and whispers began to drift:
"Eh? Is that Nero?"
"The white-haired guy with the sunglasses and mask?"
"It looks like him! Look!"
"Where's Nero?"
"Isn't that the blonde girl Kitagawa next to him?"
Feeling the surrounding gazes converge, and even a few bolder fans tentatively starting to approach, Chen Tian let out an almost imperceptible sigh and looked at the "heartbroken" Gojo Satoru: "Spit it out, Gojo, what do you want?"
His tone held a hint of resignation, but more of a prompt to "say what you need to say and leave quickly."
Gojo Satoru instantly dropped the wounded expression. Although hidden behind sunglasses and a mask, his "I got what I wanted" smugness was almost overflowing: "Hehe, surprise!"
He snapped his fingers, finally becoming slightly serious. "Just come with me, you won't regret it!"
Seeing the crowd starting to gather, Chen Tian didn't hesitate. He simply took the hand of Marin, who was curiously observing her surroundings, and said concisely: "Let's go."
Gojo Satoru whistled happily and turned to lead the way.
The trio of Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi immediately followed. The group quickly moved through the crowd toward the parking lot, leaving a small group of people behind, still discussing excitedly.
