Chapter 11 - Experiment

"WUHUUU! TREASURE!" I almost screamed from sheer joy when I saw a room full of shimmering gold and gems in front of my eyes.

Piles of gold coins filled large chests, pearl jewelry glittered in the dust, there was even a diamond-coated crown that looked like it came from an ancient kingdom.

I scratched my chin, "How much would all of this be worth if it were sold?" I murmured softly, I was truly curious.

"Don't get happy just yet, Kid." Guiver's cynical voice echoed in my head.

"Besides, this isn't your treasure."

I really didn't like his attitude that was always cynical toward me, "Don't be so stiff, my beloved Big Brother." I replied, "Don't you understand human emotions, even though you're a scientist?" I asked.

"Damn it." Guiver got annoyed when I teased him. "I understand human emotions, it's just not everything has to be shown by screaming like a crazy person."

"HAHAHA!" I replied.

I wanted to deny it. Because for someone like me who had experienced nothing but lack, when seeing such a huge pile of treasure, of course I couldn't hold back my excitement.

"Alright then." I added briefly.

I took a few steps forward to see which items would be useful.

Observing everything, holding each item one by one. "Should all of this be sold to turn into money?" I asked Guiver.

"Only part of it, probably only about a third of this." Guiver answered.

"Who would buy it?" I asked.

Guiver only replied flatly, "As long as there's demand, anything can be sold. Especially treasure."

"But..." Guiver muttered.

I was puzzled, "But?"

"You have to create a tool to multiply the sale of this treasure." Guiver said casually.

"Huh?!" Of course, I was shocked.

However, Guiver gave a logical explanation. "For example, raw gems can be polished again into smaller and more beautiful forms." He explained.

"This world is a primitive world, where jewelry craftsmanship is very limited."

I nodded slowly, "That makes sense... A very precise small gem cut would be far more valuable than a large amount of these raw gem chunks." I replied.

"But, how do I make that tool you mentioned? Even if you guide me, I still wouldn't understand." I added.

"About that, there's something I'm curious about." He replied.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I'm curious, can we switch control of the body?" He asked.

"Switch?!" I gasped in shock.

I was also curious about that. Even if we could switch control of the body, I didn't really care.

The only thing was, if he could control my body, I doubted he would use it only for good things.

Considering that he was an ambitious scientist in his former world, how would he use my body that was equipped with combat abilities in every aspect?

"Of course you would be hesitant, Kid." Guiver added.

Huh? He could tell what I was thinking?

"Relax, I won't use your body to do anything other than our purpose." He said, "I don't like pain, while you do. So of course we're different."

I stayed silent for a moment, not replying to his words. His words did sound convincing, because he was a psychopath scientist who enjoyed seeing victims suffer, so of course he wouldn't like feeling pain himself.

But I was still doubtful about it. Surely he would do other things by avoiding harm to his own body. Like attacking other people from afar using my magic to directly test my body's strength.

Seeing me remain silent, "There's no point in all your hesitation, Kid." Guiver said, "I am someone who always thinks realistically."

"Think realistically?!" I snapped back, "All your references when teaching me magic were from the fiction books you read!"

"That's true..." He didn't deny it. "But in this world, we don't have enough connections yet to fight the Inner Dominion. What kind of crazy person goes straight to declare war on them?"

I nodded in agreement, "Then... How?" I asked.

This was the obstacle in all our talk, "How do we switch control?" I asked.

"Hm..." Guiver groaned, "Try to surrender everything, surrender control of your body to me."

I didn't understand what he meant.

"All this time, you've only considered me as someone who got lost in your body," Guiver said, "You've never had the thought to share control with me, have you?"

In the midst of my doubt, "Is that all?" I asked.

"Haven't I already accepted you inside my body? What do you mean?"

To be honest, I had truly accepted his existence inside my body.

In fact, I was really grateful for his presence. Thanks to him, I could reach my current position. No longer feeling hunger, nor being oppressed by the people around me.

"I know you've already accepted me, but that doesn't mean you ever had the thought of sharing control, right?" Guiver replied to my previous question.

"That's true." What he said was indeed correct.

The reason I had no thought of sharing control of the body was because he was the most dangerous type of person if left roaming free.

With his intelligence, experience, and a body filled with power, he would surely become the most terrifying person.

He had only one weakness, which was 'Pain'.

With the memories flowing in my head about his previous life, what he said was the truth. He really hated pain.

If he really hated pain... Then why... Did he make me into someone who didn't care about pain...

Aaahhh... I see now... He really is someone who perfectly suits me...

"Alright." I said softly.

I could feel that Guiver smiled when he saw me agree to switch control of the body.

*Tap. Tap. Tap. I walked to the end of the room, close to the wall opposite the door. So I wouldn't be seen by others.

*Klk... I sat cross-legged on the empty floor with no treasure.

I began to close my eyes, "Surrender... Surrender..."

As I tried to surrender control of my body to Guiver, he did the same. Trying to take control of my body.

With both souls connected, "Ooohhh! It worked!" Guiver exclaimed.

That voice echoed throughout the room.

"Why is it echoing?" I asked in my mind.

I slowly opened my eyes with hesitation.

"What is this?!" Bright... It's so bright here…

*Hussha. I tried to stand up, looking around me.

What I saw now was an all-white room, extremely vast. As far as the eye could see. I froze for a moment.

Then I turned toward a set of computers, a desk, a chair, several sheets of paper, and a pen.

*Kreek... Kreeek... The cracking sound of bones echoed in this room.

"That's inside your body, Kid." Guiver said.

His voice did sound like mine, but clearly it was different in the way he spoke.

"This… Inside my body?!" I muttered.

I looked at a very large screen.

"This…" I was dumbfounded when I saw it.

What I saw was exactly the same as what Guiver saw, piles of treasure.

I already suspected that the vision of my eyes in my body was connected to this room, but I never expected that vision to be displayed on a large screen.

On the screen in front of me now, what Guiver's eyes were seeing was clearly visible, and his vision looked shaky.

I didn't know what he was doing, "Haaa... A young body really is light..." Guiver scoffed.

He seemed to be stretching my stiff muscles.

"Aren't you still 29 years old?! Why do you look like an old man who just got to feel a young body?!" I snapped back.

"It's only natural..." Guiver replied, "Every day I was always inside a room full of experimental materials," he began to complain, "Rarely exercised, and even my rest time was only used for reading fiction books."

I didn't care about his rambling. What caught my attention was what was inside that computer.

I walked toward the computer, "Why is the screen always on?" I asked.

What I saw was a completely white screen with lots of words. You could say it was like a diagram for future planning.

"Because that computer can't be turned off, so why bother turning it off." Guiver answered.

He was truly devoted to helping me, even the stacks of paper on this desk also contained blueprints of a tool that would be used for our plan against the Inner Dominion.

"Why are there blueprints?! Can't you just directly summon the tools?" I asked him, "If you can summon them directly, then there's no need for blueprints, right?"

"I tried that before," Guiver replied, "But it could only summon what was useful to you, and what I had before."

I was really shocked when I heard that, "Huh?!"

"You never told me that!" I shouted.

Guiver only replied curtly. "Why should I tell you?! You're useless anyway."

I smiled faintly, truly feeling impressed by him. "Hey! Why can I feel that you're smiling?! That's creepy!" Guiver shouted, his voice echoing loudly in this room.

I simply replied indifferently, "Gives you goosebumps, doesn't it?" I said softly, but full of mockery. "That's what I feel when you're in here while smiling."

"Whatever," Guiver replied.

On the screen, I saw him try something again. "Hm... My summoning ability can only be used in that situation..." Guiver muttered.

"That summoning ability, huh?" I thought to myself.

But it did seem that way. Because even now, when I tried to summon a tool here, nothing appeared at all. Proving that only Guiver could use it.

"I'm still curious, Kid." Guiver suddenly spoke again.

"What is it?" I asked.

The view on the screen moved closer to the floor; it seemed he had sat cross-legged again.

Suddenly, the screen was filled with black. "Is this what it looks like when he closes his eyes?" I thought.

"Try to force yourself to take back control of this body." Guiver said softly, but very seriously.

Hearing that, I immediately tried to take back control of my body. To be honest, I was also curious about what he said.

"Here, I'm not going to surrender, but I'm going to try to resist." Guiver added.

"Hmmm..."

Why did my vision turn black? Even though I hadn't closed my eyes before.

I slowly opened my eyes, and what I saw now was exactly the same as when I was in my body, not in the all-white room from before.

"So that's how it is… So you really are the one with full control." Guiver muttered, his voice now directly entering my head.

I didn't know what he was thinking and rambling about.

Every time he rambled, it was always filled with words I couldn't understand at all.

Clearly, with the capacity of my brain, I would never understand what Guiver, who is always several steps ahead, was thinking.

"You can relax now, right, Kid?" Guiver said confidently, "This proves that I won't do anything strange."
