Chapter 14 - The Pact

The air in the entire room changed drastically in an instant. It was so suffocating that even the subordinate Assassins were trembling in fear.

Only the middle aged woman was able to endure it, because she too was highly trained. "Aren't you scared, kid?" the man asked Guiver, who was using Reigh's body.

"I've already felt what the greatest fear in my life is," Guiver replied. He still didn't budge even a little, despite being continuously bathed in that piercing aura.

Even though the man in front of him was emitting such a terrifying aura, his body still couldn't be seen at all.

In that room, Guiver was the only one able to see the silhouette of the man's body.

The man who could only be seen by Guiver grinned. "The greatest fear." He began to chuckle. "Khahaha… Good." His tone was low, deep, and heavy.

Glancing at his subordinates who were trembling in fear, "Sleep."

*Swshh... A soft sound came from the air, instantly making all of the man's subordinates fall asleep.

Seeing the Assassins instantly go limp, Guiver suddenly got excited. "Woah!" He approached the bodies of the Assassins one by one lying on the floor. "So magic can be used for this, huh?! Awesome, awesome!"

Touching one of the bodies, closing his eyes, "Hm..." He began to murmur, "Magic... A beautiful dream, huh?"

The man in the corner of the room felt puzzled. "How do you know that?" he asked.

Guiver turned around. "Of course I know," he replied. "As long as there's even a tiny bit of leftover magic, anything can be traced."

Smiling faintly, "I see..." he replied softly.

On the other side,

Reigh, who was inside his own body, felt conflicted. He didn't know what to do right now, amazed? Panicked? Angry? Just normal? He truly felt hesitant, only able to mutter in the depths of his heart. "I knew it... This damn Guiver is going to become the most terrifying person if he uses my body..."

What Reigh had always thought about what Guiver would do when using his body had now all come exactly as he imagined.

'Guiver can't be stopped.' That was what crossed his mind now.

Honestly, he really wanted to take back control of his body because Guiver was already too out of control.

But, he felt pessimistic. "Can I handle this problem if I take control of my body right now?" He clenched his fist.

Deep in his heart, he didn't want to depend too much on Guiver. But deep down, he also felt he couldn't do anything without him.

Right now, he truly had to entrust everything to Guiver first.

"Just relax, kid," Guiver said to Reigh, as if he could directly feel Reigh's restless emotions.

"If the situation gets worse, I'll hand the fight over to you," he added. "Because I... don't like pain."

Reigh stayed silent, looking down, not responding to Guiver's words.

"You can leave the negotiation part or anything besides fighting to me," Guiver continued, his words sounding convincing.

After noticing that Reigh didn't respond, he turned to the Grey Lurk leader. "Hey." He stood up. "Why are you still hiding your body?!" he asked sharply. "Are you an introvert?!"

Wsshhh... The air vibrated softly before shaping into a black shadow that condensed into a table and two chairs.

"W-Woah! What is that?! Awesome!" Guiver exclaimed, his eyes sparkling like a child seeing a magic trick for the first time. "H-Hey! Teach me!" He moved closer toward the Grey Lurk leader enthusiastically.

"What is he even thinking?" the man muttered in his heart. "You can only see my silhouette, right?" he asked Guiver, ignoring Guiver's enthusiasm.

Guiver nodded rapidly. "Yeah! Yeah!"

*Dzzzh... A hissing sound appeared.

When that sound disappeared, the figure of a man dressed entirely in black could be seen.

His face was handsome, like that of a warrior. He looked calm, ambitious, and intelligent.

His height was around 189 cm, with a well built body. Muscular, tall, strong.

His hair was black, mixed with a little white. Even though there was some white, he didn't look old at all.

Seeing that, Guiver, who previously could only see his silhouette with detection magic, now showed a flat expression. "You're a weirdo, huh." The image he had imagined from the silhouette was completely different from what was standing in front of him.

Hearing himself being mocked, *Tsk. He ground his jaw.

He approached the chair he had created and sat down without a word.

Guiver just looked at him, then sat in his own chair as well.

In an instant, the atmosphere became extremely awkward, with no one speaking.

Reigh, who was already fed up, immediately shouted inside his head. "Hey! What is this boring situation?!" he yelled.

Guiver replied briefly, "Shut up, kid."

Suddenly, the man in front of Guiver spoke. "You… are not Reigh, are you?" he asked softly, half murmuring.

"Yeah," Guiver replied, staring at him directly. "Didn't I say it from the beginning that I'm his second personality? Hgier."

"That's not it," the man interrupted. "You are talking with the real Reigh inside your body."

Hearing that, Guiver pretended not to understand. "What do you mean?"

The atmosphere suddenly went silent. Even the sound of breathing seemed to disappear.

But in his heart, "Eh?! How does he know?" He closed his eyes. "No way…"

"Your brain waves… are different from most entities I've encountered," the man replied calmly. "It's like… there are two souls."

When Reigh heard that, in the space inside himself, he panicked that everything had been exposed.

But not Guiver. He became calm. "Are you stupid?" He leaned his body toward the man and smiled faintly. "In any situation…" He stared seriously, his tone growing more serious. "There is no such thing as two souls in one body."

Hearing Guiver's words, the man smiled back. "Hm…" He closed his eyes and bowed his head slightly. "You're right."

Guiver felt relieved, finally managing to slip past that situation.

Because in his opinion, no matter how tough or how smart a human was, they still couldn't understand that there were 'two souls in one body.'

That was why he could feel at least a little relieved that the Grey Lurk leader could accept his words.

Arguing with someone who was on the same wavelength was much smoother than arguing with someone who wasn't.

Guiver started a new topic. "So…" Breaking the brief silence, "What's your goal, sir?" he asked.

"As Nine said, we will fight the Inner Dominion," he replied briefly.

Guiver glanced at the middle aged woman. "So her name is Nine, huh?" he muttered, then looked back at the man again.

"But that's not my question," Guiver continued. "What's your real goal? Why does it have to be the Inner Dominion?"

Still calm, the man chuckled softly. "Just like your goal… we're the same."

Guiver frowned. "You want to slaughter all of them?" he asked again.

Smiling, "Yeah," the man replied. "I once read a book that said," he added, "The enemy of your enemy is your ally."

Guiver snorted. "Hmph."

"Even though you look strong and have lots of subordinates, why do you need a kid like me?" he scoffed.

In his heart, he muttered, "Is there a saying like that in this world too?"

"Let's get straight to it," the man sighed, *Haaa...

"They have 100,000 soldiers ready to die…" the man muttered. "10 commanders… And 1 Supreme Commander…"

He began to recall the past. "That Supreme Commander… I might still be able to handle him in a one on one fight…"

Guiver raised an eyebrow. "This is different from your description, kid," he said to Reigh.

Reigh snapped back, "You're comparing him to an uneducated kid like me?!" he replied irritably.

Guiver fell silent, not wanting to argue anymore.

"But someone called the Supreme Commander definitely won't want to fight one on one," the man added.

He smiled. "That's where your job comes in…" he said confidently. "Your other personality is a masochist, right? You will deal with those 10 commanders…" His voice dropped. "Alone…"

With a flat face, "Then?" Guiver asked the man in front of him.

"Are you okay with that, kid?" He asked Reigh first, making sure Reigh really agreed.

Reigh replied casually, "No problem. But…" He paused for a moment. "Only 10 people?" he asked again.

Guiver responded cynically, "Is that still not enough?"

Reigh didn't answer Guiver's remark, he just looked around at the contents of the computer.

"Only 10 commanders?" Guiver asked the man again.

The man looked confused. "Only?" he replied. "Are you underestimating them?"

"It looks like you're the one underestimating the two of us," Guiver muttered as he leaned back. "From the very beginning… This body was meant to fight everything alone."

Not responding to Guiver's words, Guiver straightened up again, staring at the man with a predator like grin. "Me and him… will stand at the top of everything."

*Pfft... "KHAHAHAHA!" The man's laughter echoed throughout the room.

Stretching out his right hand, "In that case…" the man said, "I look forward to working together."

*Plak. Guiver slapped away the proffered hand. "Don't act so friendly, stalker." He crossed his arms. "Let's settle personal matters first."

"About you bastards stalking for 7 years."

The man couldn't believe what had just happened, staring at the palm of his hand that had just been slapped away. He looked at Guiver. "What do you want?" he asked.

Still crossing his arms, "What was your reason for stalking?!" Guiver asked.

"Well…" Remembering the past, he began to explain. "I can see everyone's talent," he muttered. "When I was traveling around, I saw you when you were still a vagrant."

Guiver immediately leaned forward, and Reigh also started listening seriously. "But that talent needs a trigger," the man added, "Which is the will to survive, to fight, ambition."

Guiver frowned. "Why did you only watch?! Don't you have any empathy?!"

The man smiled. "When I saw you," he continued, "Of course I didn't want to interfere." He raised an eyebrow. "If I interfered, would you have become who you are now?"

Guiver stared at him without blinking. For a moment, his expression was unreadable, somewhere between suppressed anger and creeping bitter awareness.

The man continued, "That talent would awaken on its own desire. Whether," he looked at Guiver seriously, "You truly intended to fight the world… Or surrender to the world?"

He straightened his body again. "It would have been pointless if you just became a pampered man who needed guidance, right?"

Reigh and Guiver both fell silent. They knew that even if Reigh had been saved from the beginning, Guiver might never have emerged inside him.

The man added, "Ah… as an apology," He took out a document from who knows where, "This is the document of your parents' assistant who betrayed you." He placed the document on the table.

"That bastard's document?" Guiver took it and started looking through its contents. "Is this all true?" He looked at the man. "What's your goal?"

With a faint smile, the man replied warmly. "So there won't be any obstacles to our plan, right?"

"Hmph," Guiver snorted.

Then he changed the topic. "How strong are your subordinates?" he asked.

He felt something was odd. 'Why does the man in front of me go through the trouble of asking me, when he already has strong subordinates?'

Based on the last fight between Reigh and the Assassins, Guiver was truly amazed at how strong they were.

If low ranking subordinates disguised as servants were already that strong, how strong would the subordinates at the base be.

Now it was the man's turn to cross his arms. "Strong, huh?" he murmured. "If you say they're strong… then yeah… they are strong…" He stared blankly into the corner of the room. "But they still have fear, just like normal humans."

"What I mean is," he began to explain, "They aren't afraid of pain or death." He closed his eyes. "But they're afraid… If they're really cornered… If they meet someone even more terrifying?... What happens after death?..." He opened his eyes. "And on top of that, they must have a limit between determination and death."

Guiver looked at him flatly. "Is this guy just venting now?! So damn long winded." He grumbled in his heart. "And so dramatic too."

With enthusiasm in his eyes, the man shouted, "Different from you!"

The shout startled Guiver. "Oi!"

"You don't know fear, you're not afraid of death, not afraid of being cornered, you even turn it into fuel! You're truly INSANE!" The man in front of Guiver kept rambling non stop, while moving his body closer and closer to Guiver.

Guiver immediately pushed the large body away so it wouldn't get any closer. "Get away, bastard!" he shouted.

That instantly snapped him back to reality. "A- Ahem!" He coughed awkwardly to cut the tension.

"I-I mean… You're different," he said softly, sitting back down on his chair.

Hearing himself being praised, Reigh, inside the body, blushed. "P-Praising me doesn't make me happy, you know! I-Idiot!"

Guiver immediately got annoyed. "Shut up, bastard!" he yelled at Reigh.

They continued their conversation. It lasted for the next few minutes.

Based on the agreement they had made, Guiver asked the man to provide the items needed to make a gem polishing machine.

At first, the man didn't understand what Guiver meant. But after Guiver explained his plan to multiply the profit from selling gems, the man understood.

A few hours later, several items that Guiver had requested arrived and were placed inside the treasure room.

Inside that room, Guiver worked on everything alone.

While he was focused on arranging the items, Reigh suddenly spoke up, "Guiver, do you believe in the void?"

Guiver frowned. "The void? What do you mean?"

"About Sezavield Rateil," Reigh explained. "That Grey Lurk leader said that was born from the void."

Guiver stared blankly for a moment, beginning to remember. "Oh, that."

"So do you believe it?" Reigh asked.

Guiver exhaled, his hands never stopped arranging the items. "If I'm asked whether I believe… I don't."

Reigh looked at him curiously. "Why?"

Guiver paused for a second, then said softly, "Because… the void doesn't exist."

While still arranging the items, Guiver shared his thoughts. "In truth, humans don't really know what the void is."

Reigh didn't understand what Guiver meant. "Human logic… After 0, the number 1 appears, right?" he explained. "But 0 isn't a number."

"But you said the name Zero is zero, right?" he asked again.

"Yeah." Guiver started sitting on the chair. "Just imagine…" He began explaining. "I'm the creator of Zero, does that make me a god?"

"Zero or emptiness… neither has value… but it's used as a foundation," he added. "And that foundation is something humans made up… like Sezavield Rateil who is said to be built from the void."

"So it's clear… the void isn't real or doesn't exist." Guiver stood up again. "That's why… I don't believe in the void."

"But you believe in zero or emptiness, right?" Reigh asked again. "You're the one who named it Zero."

Guiver froze. "Eh?!" he replied shortly.

"Eh?" Reigh was also confused.

"So hard to talk to an idiot." Guiver snapped, then went back to focusing on his work.
