Chapter 19 - Beginning

Fiblio trembled in fear when he heard the words spoken from behind the door, "W-Who… Are you?!…" He muttered softly in terror. Sweat poured down from his temples.

*Tsk. Someone clicked their tongue, "Why are you that scared?" Mocked one of the men, "So weak." The man, who didn't care about whoever was behind the door, immediately stepped forward toward it.

*Kreeet. The iron door creaked long and loud. Fiblio felt as if time moved slowly. For him, that creaking door would determine his life.

When the door opened wide, everyone looked confused, "There's no one here!" They turned to look at the terrified Fiblio, "Probably just someone who's ol—"

*Sret… A fast horizontal slash headed toward the neck of the man who was facing the other way.

*Bugh. The man's head fell instantly.

In that split second, the man whose head had already been severed still had a bit of consciousness, "Eh?! Wh-Why is my view… Downward?!…" He muttered in his heart.

*Tuk. Tuk. Tuk. It rolled across the floor.

Everyone in the room suddenly panicked. "Bastard! Who are you?!" Yelled the leader of the assassins. He quickly drew his sword from its sheath, aiming at the door. His subordinates followed.

Meanwhile Fiblio, he lowered his head in fear without a word.

The room suddenly fell silent when nobody answered the leader's question.

Suddenly, "Khihihi…" A chuckle was heard from behind Fiblio.

Everyone turned their heads at once.

But none of them dared to move.

Their breathing hitched.

And Fiblio could feel… something standing very close behind him.

With a wide smile, "Welcome To Paradise!" Shouted someone behind Fiblio, spreading both arms.

Instantly, sweat poured down the bodies of the assassins. "H-How are you over there?!" Barked their leader.

But the person behind Fiblio ignored him, slightly lowering himself toward Fiblio who was still sitting in fear. "Hey… Did you forget about me?" He whispered into Fiblio's ear, pressing a dagger to his neck.

His neck stiffened, his mouth trembled, but the mix of curiosity and terror forced his body to move.

"T-This voice…?"

With shaky breaths, he slowly turned to his left side.

And when his eyes saw that face,

"Br… brown hair…"

"Brown… eyes…"

His heart felt crushed from within.

His pupils shrank.

A choking sound stuck in his throat.

"R–Reigh…?!"

Reigh answered Fiblio's terrified murmur with a wide smile, "Long time no see… Brother." Reigh said softly.

As a child, Reigh had already considered Fiblio his own older brother.

Because he was an only child, he always wanted to know what having a sibling felt like.

His parents agreed too. They saw Fiblio as a diligent, polite, honest, and kind assistant.

But what they didn't expect was that all of that was just a mask.

A mask to steal the company.

A mask to stab the people who had treated him like family.

A mask to abandon a child who had considered him a real brother, leaving him on the streets.

"W-Why are you here?" Asked Fiblio in fear. His eyes widened.

Reigh replied harshly, "You were really cruel doing all that to us," He grumbled, then smiled, "Is the business going well?" Asked Reigh.

Fiblio quickly lowered his head, "I-It's going well."

Reigh's question wasn't just a simple question. It was a question that pierced deeply.

After everything he did…

After everything he took…

After all the blood he spilled in the name of ambition…

All of it amounted to nothing but a joke.

Feeling ignored, the assassin leader felt insulted, "You damn brat! Don't ignore us!" He yelled, lunging toward Reigh.

Even though Reigh stood behind Fiblio, to him pride was still pride. He didn't hesitate even if he had to kill both of them.

Reigh glanced at the man charging at him. To Reigh, the man's movements looked slow.

He straightened his posture, narrowed his eyes, extended his left hand, "Short wind." Reigh muttered softly.

Instantly, *Slsh. Wsh. Blades of wind struck rapidly toward the man.

Before he could react, *Slash. Sret. Followed by a scream of pain, *A-ARGHHH!.

*Bugh. Bukh. Several pieces of the man's body fell to the floor.

Seeing his mutilated body, the man's eyes shook violently. "IT HURTS SO MUCH!" He screamed, his mind freezing instantly, not knowing what to do, "IT HURTS! IT HURTS! IT HURRRRTS!" All he could do was scream in agony.

Tears streamed down the man's face.

Instantly, everyone in the room felt horrified seeing the scattered body parts and the echoing screams.

Except for Reigh, "So noisy!" Reigh snorted.

With his left hand still raised, he covered his right eye, aiming, "Piu."

Instantly, *Zshhh… a spiral wind shot out from the tip of his index finger.

*Pluk. It quickly pierced through the man's skull.

*Brugh… The remaining upper half of the body fell backward after the spiral wind drilled through his head.

That brief event made the man's subordinates even more terrified. "R-Run!!!" Shouted one of the assassins.

They all dashed toward the door. *Dash. Dash. Tap. Tap.

But Reigh only gave a thin smile, "Heh…" *Ssshhh.

He had already arrived in front of all of them, standing right before the door.

With his head slightly lifted, "Where are you going?" Reigh said coldly. Followed by his chilling laughter, "Ha… Ha… Ha… KHI… KHAHAHAHA!" Spreading his arms wide, "THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING, IDIIIOOOTS!!!" His shout echoed through the entire room, the hallway, even Fiblio's own home.
