Chapter 4 - Has She Taken a Liking to Morintis?

After all, he was a Level 52 class holder with a highly leveled Detection skill. Morintis was only Level 1, yet his summon actually perceived him as a threat.

Through his Detection skill, Alistair Carter saw the Skeleton Warrior's attributes. They were utterly ordinary, nothing special.

Of course, Morintis was only Level 1 now. It was impossible to gauge a class's strength based on such low-level stats. Perhaps this Skeleton Warrior would become powerful after leveling up.

Carter waved his hand. "Thank you. Work hard. You might achieve something in the future."

Morintis bowed to Carter once more.

The Skeleton Warrior followed behind Morintis as he walked, emitting a constant clatter, clatter sound accompanied by gusts of cold wind, adding to its terrifying aura.

As he returned to the group, many classmates instinctively moved away from him. The skeleton was just too frightening.

Leo approached him. "Can I touch it?"

Morintis nodded, indicating it was okay.

Leo mustered his courage and reached out to touch the Skeleton Warrior. It felt like touching steel plate, but colder. The flames in its skull gave off no heat; in fact, the closer one got, the colder it felt.

"Is this skeleton strong?" Leo asked.

Morintis shook his head. "Probably stronger than you."

"Really? Hard to believe. It looks a bit... broken."

Just then, Principal Stone called Leo's name. Leo responded, "I have to go for my class change. We'll talk later!"

Morintis looked at the Skeleton Warrior and thought silently, 'Recall.'

A vortex appeared before him again. The Skeleton Warrior stepped into it and vanished.

His Summon Space property immediately changed.

Originally, it was [Summon Space: 0/10].

Now it read [Summon Space: 1/10, Skeleton Warrior (Quantity: 1)].

Morintis carefully read the Summon Space description. It was a space to store summons. Unneeded summons could be stored there and summoned instantly when required. Summoning a creature from the Summon Space cost no Spirit.

In other words, he could summon Skeleton Warriors in advance, store them in the Summon Space, and call them out whenever needed.

Currently, the Summon Space had 10 slots, capable of holding 10 Skeleton Warriors. If a summon was injured, it would also recover quickly within the space. The capacity would increase as he leveled up.

Morintis recalled the vision he saw during his class change. The scene he witnessed was completely different from what others saw.

He had seen a dragon. A giant dragon, soaring through the sky, occasionally letting out cries of pain. Moments later, it crashed back to the ground, thrashing wildly.

Morintis saw the dragon covered in Skeleton Warriors—at least a thousand of them. The Skeleton Warriors swung their blades relentlessly against the dragon's body, each strike causing a horrific wound.

No matter how the dragon struggled, it was futile. All it could do was roar in despair.

In less than a minute, the dragon fell with a final, mournful cry, the light fading from its eyes.

This scene showed Morintis just how powerful Skeleton Warriors could be. In sufficient numbers, they could slaughter a dragon like it was livestock.

Morintis believed he too could one day reach that level, slaying dragons as easily as killing dogs.

The class-change array burst with brilliant light. Leo's class change concluded.

[Combat High-Tier Class: Sword & Shield Knight]

He actually got his wish and became a Knight. And not just an ordinary Knight, but a High-Tier class: Sword & Shield Knight. While both were Knights, there was a fundamental difference between them; otherwise, it wouldn't qualify for the "High-Tier" designation.

Leo ran back excitedly. "See? I told you I'd become a Knight!"

Morintis rarely smiled, but he offered a slight one now and gave Leo a thumbs-up.

Leo laughed heartily, slapping Morintis on the shoulder. "We'll tackle dungeons together from now on! I'll stand in front of you!"

"How did that saying go... Let me think." He smacked his forehead. "If you want to kill me, you'll have to step over your corpse!"

Morintis was speechless. He couldn't take it anymore and finally spoke. "You got it backwards."

Leo looked surprised. "You finally decided to talk! I said it backwards on purpose. Didn't you notice?"

Notice, my foot, Morintis thought. You just got it wrong and won't admit it. What a joker.

Morintis gave Leo a look of utter disdain.

Finally, everyone's class change was complete.

Principal Stone led them back to the main lecture hall.

This time, 106 students from First High School underwent the class change. Among them, Morintis received a Hidden class. Twelve students acquired Combat classes, eighteen received Support classes, and the rest got Life classes.

This ratio was considered quite good, and Principal Stone was very satisfied.

"Students, the class change has concluded."

"No matter what class you obtained, you must strive to level up and improve your skill proficiency."

"Starting tomorrow, Westsea City's Starter-leveling Dungeon will be open to all of you."

"You may enter the dungeon for practical combat and leveling."

"Students with Life classes, don't worry. The school has arranged a Life Skills Hall for you, where instructors will teach you various life skills."

"I hope everyone achieves excellent results in the major exam next week and gains entry into the higher education institution of your choice."

The details of the Starter-leveling Dungeon were basically common knowledge to everyone. The monsters inside ranged from Level 1 to Level 8. Their numbers weren't high, and the difficulty was very low. It was much safer than the wilderness outside Westsea City.

Of course, one could choose not to go to the Starter Dungeon and head directly into the wilds. As for life and death out there... that was one's own responsibility.

As school was dismissed, Sophia stopped Morintis.

Leo grinned mischievously. "Miss Sophia, what's this? Have you taken a liking to Morintis?"

Sophia scowled. "Get lost."

"Aye, aye, Captain!" Leo made himself scarce with remarkable alacrity.
