"So, explain, what are we doing here?" Len asked when we were in a taxi heading towards the good old college.
"I'm curious if my party is still happening here," I replied, looking out the window.
"You were just curious if some party was happening, and you flew twelve hours just for that?! Don't you have anywhere else to spend your money?" she gasped.
"Maybe I don't," I laughed. "You only live once, so I do whatever I want. Besides, this party is special."
"Unbelievable," she grumbled.
"Are you going to be mad that I spent my own money on my own desires?" I laughed.
"If you're going to waste it like that, you should give it to me," she muttered.
"Don't grumble, I'm already paying for you these past few days, and I hired you, which means I'll be paying you a salary," I snorted.
"Yes, yes, I'm quiet," she sighed.
"Don't be sad, we'll have fun, and even if the party isn't happening, at least we'll hang out in New York. You've never been here," I reminded her.
"I give up," she laughed now too. "So, what's so special about this party?" she asked as we got out and I paid the driver.
"Well, you see, when I studied here," I pointed all around and turned on the snow. "I was the coolest."
"I believe it," she snorted.
"Seriously, I was the captain of the football team and the coolest girl here," I defended myself.
"I'll need proof," she said.
"Alright, I'll show you all the awards we won," I shrugged.
"That we contributed to," a voice said from behind us.
We turned around and saw all the guys who had come here with me.
"What are you doing here?!" I exclaimed happily.
"Well, it's our best friend's birthday," Jake started and hugged me, lifting me up.
"And we wanted to get into the party we started," Niall finished, also hugging and lifting me.
"So what is this party?" Len finally burst out while I was still hugging everyone.
"You haven't told her yet?" Liam laughed, and I just shook my head. "It happened a long, long time ago," he started mockingly.
"When we were still young and studying here," Jake continued.
"A new freshman named Luanna Perez appeared at this university," I said.
"She was the coolest and the first girl to join the football team and even become its captain," Beth continued the story.
"She cheated on and annoyed every single teacher," Louis said.
"She broke my nose," Josh muttered.
"And this party happens every year on this exact day for her birthday," Niall finished.
"Seriously?" Len was surprised.
"Let's go inside," I started walking toward the doors. "You'll see the awards."
We all came to the trophy cabinet. Thank goodness it was a lecture hour, and it was quiet and empty everywhere.
"And all of this was won after you came?" Gabi and Len were amazed.
"After I came, to be precise. All those wins are because of me," I boasted.
"Wow, there are loads of them," Gabi couldn't take her eyes off the trophies.
Suddenly, voices were heard from the adjacent corridor, which meant people were coming.
"Run," I quickly said, and we all ran outside. "Gabi or Len, you'll have to find out where the party is taking place now," I told them.
"Why us?" they frowned.
"Because no one here has seen or knows you yet," I explained and showed them to go inside. They sighed but did as they were told. We waited five minutes, and they returned, but this time with a flyer in their hands.
"We got a flyer," Gabi waved it in front of my face.
I took it and started reading. "It's taking place in one of the biggest clubs in the city. They really took this seriously," I marveled.
"How could they not, you are Luanna P...," I silenced Josh.
"Josh, shut up. You're starting to annoy me," I grumbled.
"You feel what it's like to be in my place," he retorted.
"Do you two always argue like this?" Gabi asked.
"Since the very beginning of freshman year," Beth sighed.
"Why?" Len asked now.
"Because their first meeting wasn't great either," Liam replied.
"What happened?" Len didn't give up.
"We made a bet that I wouldn't score a goal—I won. That's how I got onto the team, because your dad saw everything. About an hour later, I broke his nose," I explained.
"You almost broke it," he didn't give up.
"Wait, her dad?" Louis was confused.
"Henry is her dad—my uncle," I rolled my eyes.
"And is he still here?" he asked.
"No, he retired due to illness," Len answered sadly. I quickly hugged her around the shoulders.
"Anyway, we can go to that club now. According to the flyer, the speech will start soon. I don't want to miss it," I chuckled.
At the Club
We had just walked in, and everything looked impressive. The bar was set up, and bartenders and barmaids were scurrying around, and there were many more people gathered than the first time.
"This is going to be fun," I muttered and rubbed my hands together.
"Oh no," Harry muttered.
I pushed my way to the front, making sure to tuck my hair into a cap so it wouldn't show. Although it was still quite dark in here. Some guy stood up on a raised platform with a microphone.
"Hello everyone, and welcome again to our annual college celebration. This is the fourth year we've all gathered together to remember our legend, Luanna Perez. If anyone doesn't know, she studied here two and a half years ago and was the coolest girl. I saw it myself because I was here. She joined the football team and, improving on another of our stars—Niall Horan, whom you might know from the most famous band in the world—became the team captain. She led us to victories and made our small college famous, which is now filled with students. She didn't listen to the teachers and talked back, and still managed to get good grades while running around to parties and drinking," he finished speaking, and I was stunned. "Would anyone like to say anything before all the action begins?"
"Me!" I shouted immediately and raised my hand.
He gestured for me to go up on stage, and I did. "He already told you about Luanna's past, but do you know what's happening now? She owns the most famous hotel chain in the world, and they are amazing. I've been there myself. She became the manager for our famous singers from One Direction, and as far as I know, she's going to come here with them," I whispered into the microphone.
"How do you know?!" someone shouted from further away.
"You don't believe me?" I acted hurt.
"I don't believe you, because there's no proof that you know anything about her," he didn't back down.
"Do you want proof for the rest of your life?" I raised an eyebrow, though I wasn't sure if he saw it.
"You bet I do," he crossed his arms.
"Can you direct the lights toward me?" I asked the staff working with the technical equipment.
A bright white lamp was turned onto me. "Well, you see, I think I know what I'll do and what I won't," I laughed and took off my cap, letting my hair fall down.
Gasps, applause, and even screams erupted.
"Unbelievable, Luanna Perez herself has arrived at her own party!" the same guy on stage yelled.
"Now, shhh," I tried to quiet them, and everyone listened to me. "Now, think about it, I couldn't have come alone, could I?"
"Are they here?!" some girl shrieked.
"They certainly are! Come on up to me, my friends, we haven't celebrated here for two years!"
