Chapter 64 - Misunderstanding

"And do try to be more professional in my class." As they exit the classroom, Sanemi rounds on Giyuu, his face a mix of frustration and embarrassment. "Great. Now we have detention because of you and your... outfit choices!" He pulls at his uniform collar, clearly still uncomfortable with how their morning has unfolded. "And he thinks we- you know- in the dorms! This is so humiliating." They rush to their next class, trying to avoid drawing more attention to themselves.

Sanemi keeps glancing at Giyuu's shirt and muttering under his breath. "You better give that back before the next teacher sees it. And don't you dare make any more excuses about being late!" They arrive at their math class, and Sanemi takes his usual seat as far away from Giyuu as possible. He pulls out his notebook and tries to focus on the equations, but keeps getting distracted by the memory of Urokodaki's comments.

"Why do you always have to cause trouble?" he whispers harshly, though there's less anger in his voice than before. Giyuu settles into his seat and writes down notes with practiced ease, seemingly unfazed by Sanemi's grumbling. The math teacher starts the lesson, and Sanemi attempts to follow along, though he keeps shooting Giyuu suspicious glances whenever the other boy shifts in his seat. While pretending to take notes, Giyuu quietly sketches something in the margins of his notebook.

Sanemi notices the movement and leans over slightly, trying to see what Giyuu is drawing without being obvious. "Are you seriously doodling instead of paying attention? You're impossible..." He whispers with a mix of irritation and curiosity, unable to resist peeking at Giyuu's artwork. Sanemi's eyes widen slightly as he catches a glimpse of the drawing - a beautifully detailed sketch of the classroom scene.

"How do you even-" He cuts himself off, remembering they're in class and shouldn't be talking. Despite his annoyance, he can't help but admire Giyuu's artistic talent, though he quickly returns to his own notes with a scowl. The math teacher calls on Giyuu to solve a problem, and he calmly stands up, presenting his work flawlessly.

Sanemi watches with grudging respect as the teacher praises Giyuu's answer, while he himself struggles with the same problem. "Show-off..." he mutters under his breath, feeling both impressed and irritated by Giyuu's academic prowess. The class continues, and Sanemi manages to complete the math problems, though not as efficiently as Giyuu. When the bell rings, he quickly gathers his things, eager to get to lunch and put some distance between them. "I'm going to the cafeteria. Don't follow me."

He says firmly, already heading toward the door, though he knows Giyuu will probably join him anyway. Sanemi makes his way to the cafeteria, choosing a table far from the usual student traffic. He sits down with his lunch, hoping for some peace and quiet, but soon spots Giyuu entering the cafeteria. "Great... just great." He slumps in his chair, watching as Giyuu scans the room and inevitably heads toward his table. The group of friends approaches the table, led by Tengen's boisterous energy.

"Hey Sanemi! Hey Giyuu!" Tengen calls out, plopping down beside Sanemi with his tray. Mitsuri and Obanai follow, while Rengoku cheerfully waves at both roommates. "We heard about your little adventure this morning!" Tengen grins mischievously, clearly enjoying Sanemi's discomfort. Sanemi groans and buries his face in his hands.

"Don't start, Tengen. It's bad enough without you making it worse." Obanai smirks behind his mask, while Mitsuri tries to hide her giggles. "What? We just want to know why Giyuu's wearing your clothes." Tengen teases, nudging Sanemi's shoulder. Rengoku leans forward with genuine curiosity. "Did something happen between you two?" Giyuu calmly opens his lunchbox, seemingly unbothered by the teasing.

"It's just a shirt." Sanemi glares at him through his fingers, then sits up straight to defend himself. "It's not 'just a shirt'. It's my favorite shirt, and he's been wearing it all day!" Tengen waggles his eyebrows suggestively. "Oh really? Is that why you both came in late this morning?" Mitsuri gasps dramatically, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"No way! Were you two... you know?" Sanemi's face turns bright red, while Giyuu maintains his composed demeanor, though there's a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth. "No! Absolutely not!" Sanemi protests loudly, drawing attention from nearby tables. Obanai mutters something about them being too obvious, while Rengoku just laughs heartily. Tengen leans back in his chair, thoroughly enjoying Sanemi's embarrassment.

"Sure, sure. That's why Giyuu's wearing your shirt and you're both blushing." Sanemi slams his hands on the table. "I'm not blushing! And we're not- ugh, just drop it already!" He glares at Giyuu, silently pleading for help in ending this conversation. Giyuu takes a bite of his food, then speaks in his usual calm tone. "It's actually more comfortable than my uniform."

This only makes the situation worse, as Tengen bursts into laughter and Mitsuri squeals with delight. "See? Even he admits it!" Tengen exclaims, pointing dramatically at Giyuu.

Sanemi looks like he might explode from frustration. Rengoku casually moves from his chair to Tengen's lap, completely changing the focus of the conversation. "Tengen, you're being too loud. Let them eat in peace." Tengen wraps an arm around Rengoku's waist, still grinning but slightly distracted.

"Fine, fine. But this isn't over, Sanemi." The tension at the table eases as Mitsuri starts talking about her cooking class, while Sanemi shoots grateful looks at Rengoku for the intervention. The group watches in amusement as Rengoku devours his food with enthusiasm. "Umai! This is amazing!" he declares after finishing another bite. Sanemi shakes his head, grateful for the normalcy of Rengoku's appetite. "Some things never change." Tengen chuckles, adjusting Rengoku on his lap to make room for his own lunch.

"At least someone's enjoying their meal without any drama." Mitsuri giggles and offers Rengoku some of her food. "Here, try this too! I made it special today." Rengoku eagerly accepts the food, his eyes lighting up. "Umai! Thank you, Mitsuri! Your cooking is truly wonderful!" The conversation flows naturally now, with everyone focused on their meals and friendly chatter, much to Sanemi's relief.
