"Let go," Summer hissed, jerking her arm.
But Gideon pulled her in closer.
"Wait a moment." He reached into his pocket and took out a small box. It was the ointment she had thrown away at the office. Gideon had picked it up carefully and kept it with him.
He squeezed a bit of the ointment onto his fingertip and gently brushed it across the tender burn on her hand. The coolness eased the sting on her skin, but it did nothing to cool the fire twisting inside her chest.
'If you think this little tenderness can erase everything you did, you are wrong.'
She jerked her hand back. "I don't need this."
She pushed the door open and stepped out.
Gideone didn't stop her this time. He sat there, still, watching her go away. His fingers tightened around the box until it creaked.
"No matter what, I'll make you mine again."
