"I'm heading out for a few hours."
Aria grabbed her jacket from the hook by the warehouse door, and Marcus finally looked up from his laptop.
"Where to?" he asked.
"Nowhere special, honestly. I just need some air, maybe a walk, something to clear my head." She said. "I've been cooped up in here for days, and I'm starting to feel less like a girlfriend and more like a prisoner."
Marcus frowned. "Take security with you. David can assign someone."
"I don't need a babysitter, I only need to walk around Brooklyn." Aria stepped closer and leaned in to kiss him, softening her voice. "I'll keep my phone on me, and I'll be back in a few hours."
He studied her face a moment longer than necessary. "You're going to investigate James, aren't you?"
Aria hesitated, "I only want to run a basic background check, nothing invasive. I just need to know whether my instincts are right, or I'm letting paranoia get the best of me."
