"It's happening."
Aria's voice sounded in the dark at 3:47 a.m. as she shook Marcus awake in their Queens apartment.
Her phone glowed in her hand, Dmitri's message on the screen:
Movement at the warehouse, multiple vehicles, at least eight hostiles, the trap was working.
They dressed quickly while Marcus opened his laptop and pulled up the surveillance feeds. Four vehicles are in the warehouse, men advancing from different angles.
"They are professional," Marcus said quietly, studying the screen. "That's a military move."
"Are Dmitri's team in position?" Aria asked.
"Yes, across the street," he replied. "They'll wait until everyone's inside, so they can cut off the exits, then move in."
Onscreen, the team kicked in the door and moved inside. A little while later, Dmitri's people slipped into place outside, blocking exits and tightening the circle.
"It's working," Marcus murmured, hardly daring to breathe.
