Chapter 17 - The Hidden Language

After that victory through cheating, the cage opened once again.

What shocked everyone was that all the Bulls were dead.

Steve's face lit up for a moment.

"My big brother did it..."

But then his smile disappeared.

Henry was lying there...

Covered in blood...

With Gloria resting beside him.

Steve burst into tears.

Memories of his brother flooded his mind.

The times they used to sneak outside during the daytime without ever getting caught.

Henry, the mastermind.

He knew every path around the city.

No one could ever find him during the day.

He remembered the nights when Henry used to stalk girls.

Yeah...

He was a pervert.

But, to everyone's surprise...

It was always Gloria.

She was the only girl he ever followed.

Then came the memories of them playing sports together...

Laughing...

Living like normal brothers.

Steve finally collapsed to the ground beside his parents and Gloria's parents, who were all unconscious.

He lowered his head...

And cried.

Soon, King Serloth's guards entered the Bullpit.

Later renamed...

The Bloodpit.

A name given by King Serloth himself in memory of Henry, the man who had built the arena and fought until his final breath.

The guards tried separating Henry and Gloria so they could place them into separate coffins.

But they couldn't.

The two held onto each other so tightly that it felt as if they had become one.

In the end...

They were buried together.

Even Serloth respected that final wish.

Back in the present...

Conrad and Tom had tears in their eyes.

Henry had become an idol to them.

And from that moment onward...

They both wanted revenge against King Serloth.

Conrad looked at Steve.

"What was the last thing Henry told you?"

Steve took a deep breath.

"He told me..."

"There's a key."

"A way to activate everything I built."

"The entire mechanism."

"But..."

"You need to understand a very specific language."

"The language of the people above the skies."

"I spent three years learning it while helping build the cage."

"I wrote everything down."

"It's hidden inside a cave."

"If someone understands it..."

"They can finish my masterpiece."

Steve never mentioned what the language actually was.

Instead, he looked at them and said,

"I've never gone there."

"There's one big problem."

"Five guards."

"They're highly trained."

"They're just like you guys."

Conrad smiled.

"Kid..."

"After hearing Henry's story..."

"I think we've got bigger problems than five guards."

Steve nodded.

"The only chance is during the daytime."

"At night it's crowded."

"They'll call for backup immediately."

"So..."

The mission began.

Mission: Cave.

The three of them quietly made their way toward the cave.

Tom revealed the plan.

He would lure the guards away.

Conrad and Steve only had one job.

Finish them.

As Conrad entered the cave entrance, he found the first two guards.

Steve created a small distraction outside.

The guards heard the noise and walked toward it.

The moment they stepped out...

Conrad struck.

Rage Buster.

Both guards dropped instantly.

The impact echoed through the cave.

The remaining three rushed out.

Exactly as Tom had planned.

Tom was already hanging from the ceiling.

The moment they looked up...

He dropped.

The guards attacked.

He slipped between them.

Jumped once...

Then again...

Twisted through the air...

Backflipped...

Spun...

And finally unleashed a devastating front kick.

His newly created technique...

Lotus Slasher.

Moments later...

All three guards were unconscious.

The path was clear.

They reached the hidden safe.

Inside were countless notes written in a strange language.

Conrad stared at them.

Steve looked confused.

Neither of them could understand a single word.

Then Steve suddenly laughed.

"Wait..."

"You guys came from Greenware."

"How would either of you know this language?"

Before anyone could answer...

A calm voice came from behind.

Tom.

He began reading fluently.

"Forty-fifth wire."

"Third bolt."

"Eighty-ninth wire."

"Sixth bolt."

"Release them all at once."

"Lead the Bulls into the Bullpit."

"Let their horns destroy the core."

"Only then shall the Bullpit fall."

"And with the fall of the Bullpit..."

"...the entire Cage shall fall forever."

Steve froze.

His hands started shaking.

"The only people..."

"The only people who can read this language..."

"...are those from Upware."

"The City Above the Clouds."

Conrad slowly turned toward Tom.

His eyes widened.

For the first time...

He realized...

Tom...

...was from Upware.
