Chapter 29 - CHAPTER 29: Shopping

"Hey, Dad, I just happen to be free this afternoon."

Dalton Grant didn't press further after hearing that.

After hanging up, Oliver turned to Ella with a warm smile.

"When are we going?"

"I'll just change my clothes upstairs and then we can head out."

Ella Grant didn't care who accompanied her, as long as it wasn't Stella Grant.

Oliver Grant found this a bit intriguing.

Having lived this long, he had never experienced what it felt like to go shopping with a girl.

Just as he was thinking about it, Oliver's phone rang.

"Mr. Grant, the materials for the afternoon meeting are ready. Do you need me to pick you up?"

The secretary's voice was very respectful.

Oliver replied calmly, "No need, cancel it."

The secretary was surprised. "Huh? But you said this meeting was very important!"

What was even more surprising was that Oliver had never let personal matters interfere with his work.

Unfazed, Oliver instructed, "Don't disturb me this afternoon. I'm taking my sister shopping."

The secretary's jaw nearly dropped to the floor.

Taking his sister shopping?

He couldn't even imagine the CEO, Oliver Grant, following a young girl around a mall.

"Well, I hope you and Miss Stella Grant have a great time."

Just as the secretary was about to cancel the meeting, Oliver corrected him, "Not Stella Grant, it's Ella Grant."

"What?"

The secretary couldn't help but ask aloud. Could it be that Ella Grant,

who had been all over the news recently due to her engagement scandal?

Wasn't this Miss Grant usually overlooked?

Why was the president's attitude toward her so different now?

The secretary wisely chose to stay silent.

Oliver Grant didn't feel the need to explain anything.

After hanging up the phone, he quietly waited for Ella Grant to come downstairs.

Elle appeared in a simple, casual outfit, dressed all in black, which made her look quite sharp.

As she descended the stairs, Oliver accidentally caught a glimpse of a faint scar on her ankle.

"Did you hurt your foot?"

Oliver asked casually.

Ella nodded and quickly made up a story.

"I got hurt when I was playing around a while back."

Oliver's gaze lingered on the scar, his eyes darkening as he couldn't help but recall an accident from their childhood...

He accidentally slipped down the hillside and was rescued by a kind-hearted person from a nearby village.

He didn't get a good look at the face of his savior.

But he vaguely remembered that the girl had delicate ankles, with a few drops of blood seeping out.

It was enough to make anyone's heart ache.

When Oliver Grant finally woke up,he found himself in a hospital bed.

As for that kind girl, she quietly left after he was out of danger.

Despite his efforts to search for her later, it was as if she had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind.

Over time, the incident was set aside.

Yet, Oliver still held it in his heart. By his own estimation, that girl was probably around the same age as his sister, Ella Grant.
