Chapter 30 - CHAPTER 30: purely normal

"Aren't you leaving yet?"

Ella waved her hand in front of Oliver's face.

Wasn't he supposed to take her shopping? Why was he zoning out now?

Oliver's eyes finally refocused, looking at Ella.

"Nothing, let's go."

He still didn't ask the question that lingered in his mind.

There were countless village girls in the world; what were the odds that one of them would be his sister?

It couldn't be that coincidental.

But they did share one common trait: both came from rural backgrounds.

Thinking about the worn cloth shoes that the unknown girl had been wearing, Oliver Grant felt a pang of discomfort in his heart.

What kind of life had Ella Grant lived before?

For some reason, a wave of compassion washed over him.

Oliver reached out and took the bag from Ella's hands.

"I'll carry that for you."

Ella was puzzled but didn't protest. After all, being part of the Grant family meant giving this nominal brother a bit of face.

"Where are we going?"

Once they got into the car, they both asked at the same time, only to be met with surprised expressions.

Ella pouted, "Aren't you the one taking me? You haven't even thought about where we're going?"

Why does this brother seem a bit clueless?

Oliver cleared his throat to mask his embarrassment and explained, "Hold on a second; I need to take care of something."

With that, he pulled out his phone and quickly started typing on the screen.

Meanwhile, a little secretary at the company received a message from her boss.

"Which mall is suitable for a young girl?"

The secretary initially thought someone had mistakenly sent the message and was about to scold them. But when she looked up, she was shocked to see her boss's name glaring at her from the sender's position!

Oh my gosh!

In his lifetime, he never thought he would get asked such a personal question by his boss—one that had nothing to do with work!

Was this really his own boss?

The secretary quickly typed, "Is this really you?"

As if to confirm his suspicion, another message from Oliver Grant came through.

"Reply quickly, or your year-end bonus will be zero."

The secretary's hand trembled, nearly dropping the phone.

Yes, this was definitely the boss himself.

Only he could come up with such a way to threaten someone.

On the other end, Oliver Grant was satisfied to get the answer he wanted.

He put down his phone and immediately started the car.

"We're heading to Qianmao Center."

Ella Grant had no idea what Qianmao Center was, but at least they had a destination.

Before they even reached Qianmao Center, they noticed an unusually high volume of traffic today.

What should have been a journey of less than half an hour turned into a grueling hour and a half.

For Oliver Grant, who valued time as money, this was unbearable.

He had thought that once they arrived at Qianmao Tower, he could finally relax.

But looking at the sea of people gathered outside the building, two dark lines appeared on his forehead.

"What on earth is going on today?"

Oliver muttered under his breath as he struggled to find a parking
