particular fondness for this style, directly telling the sales associate, "Get me two more sets just like this."
Once she had the clothes in hand, Ella turned to leave.
"Is this all you're buying? A casual outfit for the family dinner seems a bit off," Oliver suggested. "Why not look around a bit more?"
"It's more convenient to wear casual clothes, and besides, there's nothing here that I like," she replied, implying that she wasn't impressed with the selection.
Oliver frowned tightly. This was the largest mall in Z City; how could it not meet her expectations?
Where else could they possibly shop?
What he didn't realize was that as the versatile mercenary K, Ella had seen much more than this.
Even if you combined ten of the best stores here, they wouldn't compare to a single upscale shopping center in Country A.
Given such a stark contrast, it was perfectly normal for Ella to look down on this place.
Oliver Grant took the card to pay the bill and glanced at his phone along the way. His assistant had already replied.
"Maybe Miss Grant isn't really interested in clothes. How about checking out some cosmetics instead?"
That was a good idea.
After returning with the receipt, Oliver was about to suggest it when he heard Elle Grant ask, "How much is it?"
"Not much," he replied.
Ella reached out and took the receipt from Oliver's hand.
"I'll pay you back," she said.
But as she prepared to pay, Ella suddenly realized she was broke. The only card she had was the one Oliver had given her, which made her feel insecure.
This wouldn't do; she needed to find a way to earn some money.
With that thought, Elle felt that shopping was a waste of time.
Meanwhile, Oliver felt an unexplainable awkwardness. He hadn't expected Ella to pay him back.
Isn't it natural for a brother to buy things for his sister?
Why was Ella still so distant?
The atmosphere between them shifted slightly, and Oliver didn't know how to handle this change.
