Chapter 12 - Meeting the man I am to pay half of my ex-husband debt to

"Who are you looking for?"

A lady in her fifties looked at me, asking in puzzlement.

From the looks of it, she should be a servant in Micheal's house.

"Hello, I'm looking for Mr. Michael" I smiled and said politely.

"Looking for the boss?

But he hardly sees any visitors, let alone a woman."

The maid didn't engage with me but instead spoke to herself.

From upstairs, a deep and lazy voice drifted down.

 "Let her come up."

Looking at me, the maid seemed to have discovered something extraordinary.

She then led me upstairs.

When we arrived at the door, she knocked then left.

The man stood by the window, his beautiful left hand holding a glass of red wine.

Leisurely he sat by the window, gazing outside, seemingly lost in thought.

"Mr. Micheal." I softly called out and stepped into the room.

Michael turned his head with a faint smile playing on his lips.

Such a faint smile suddenly made my heart skip a beat.

I'm not being infatuated, but his smile was incredibly captivating.

 "Hmm."

 He responded lazily.

I suddenly didn't know how to begin speaking, unsure if he still remembered me or not.

Micheal stood up, placing his wine glass on the windowsill.

The sunlight penetrated through the red wine in the glass, casting a mottled light.

I approached him, and said, "Mr. Micheal, I am here to discuss my ex-husband's mishap with your car.

Since we're divorced, I have to shoulder some of the debt.

I'm here to discuss the debt with you.

I wonder, do you still remember me?"

Asking this question made me feel as though I was discussing that evening's events, which was increasingly embarrassing.

It was especially made so by his extremely indifferent expression, and the event taking place late at night, that made me uncertain if he truly remembered me.

He chuckled lightly, giving me a meaningful look and saying, "I have a deep impression."

My face instantly burned red.

Imagery I hadn't expected started coming to mind.

I coughed awkwardly, speaking with a hint of unease.

"I wanted to ask if I could make a payment plan to settle the debt since I couldn't afford to pay such a large sum all at once.

But I promise, I will repay all of it."

Trying my best to look sincere since he could easily find a multitude of reasons not to agree to my proposal.

He looked at me for a moment before taking two lazy strides towards me.

His breath, close enough to feel.

I sense his warm exhale hit my face; it felt like my face was on fire.

His deep eyes stayed locked on me, making me feel inexplicably flustered as I didn't know what he was looking at.

After what seemingly felt like forever, he finally spoke through his thin lips.

"How much is your monthly salary?"

 Huh?

I'm not sure why he asked this question, and I'm a bit confused, but I still answered honestly.

"I used to earn five thousand a month in my previous job, but I've changed jobs now, so I estimate I can make ten thousand a month or even more."

I am quite familiar with design work, the salary at times is enough for me to buy several designer bags.

Therefore, I'm confident that I can repay the money I owe to Micheal as soon as possible.

He let out a scoff, his hand gently brushing the strands of my hair near my ear, the motion was incredibly gentle.

It made me feel as if I had been electrified, tingling all over.

"You owe me nine hundred thousand even after rounding down the value.

Minus your expenses, even if you could repay ten thousand a month, that would still take you seven and a half years.

You're a woman, why put yourself through such hardship.

How about... you become my lover, and we can call it even."
