Chapter 11 - Divorce agreement paying half of my ex-husband debt

I already know who did this without it being said!

Who else but James could carry out such insane actions!

If he can show up here, it means he already knows where I live.

If I continue to stay here, I cannot guess what other madness he might do.

But I just paid half a year's rent.

I'm already broke, could he stop making things worse for me?

With trembling hands, I opened the door, fearing that James might be here.

Fortunately, there was no one inside.

I breathed a sigh of relief and then called my lawyer to inquire about the progress of the divorce case.

The lawyer only said it was going quite smoothly, but I didn't understand what that meant.

Unexpectedly, the lawyer found me the next day and said it was time for mediation.

In divorce cases, it's always better to go the way of private mediation unless it's absolutely necessary.

Seeing James again, I noticed he seemed to have lost some weight, of course, this couldn't possibly be because of me.

He looked at me, smiling coldly.

And, standing next to him was Aria. I ignored him and proceeded in.

James also procured a lawyer and proposed the terms for the divorce.

The house was bought by Aria for James before their wedding, and I didn't receive a single piece of it.

But then again, I didn't want any.

There's no money left from the property after the marriage, and I don't care.

Owed with a debt of more than 900,000 dollars my happiness evaporated.

Even more outrageous, he actually asked me to pay for his medical bills of 100,000 dollars ,which must be paid off within three months.

 "100,000 dollars my ass!

What the hell does your impotence have to do with me!" I yelled at him.

The opposing lawyer furrowed his brows, saying, "Ms. Ella, please mind your attitude towards my client."

James, in fact, remained calm with a composed face.

Probably, he knew how eager I was to divorce him, so he insisted on pushing me at this point.

"Either you agree to my conditions or wait till the two years of separation for an automatic divorce is due.

It's up to you to accept or decline, I don't care."

He had me cornered, I knew.

But I really didn't want to get entangled with him again.

Biting my teeth, I just signed the documents. What's the big deal about a million? I can work my ass off to pay it back!

I really don't care about these anymore, I just want to divorce James!

After signing, I hurriedly walked out of the lawyer's office.

Though I inexplicably took on so much debt, I felt relieved to be able to divorce him.

James followed closely behind like a fly, disgustingly so.

"Sorry to tell you, I've already paid off my part of the debt.

As for yours, take your time to pay it back."

"What? It's already paid off? Where would he get the money?

Didn't they say he had no money in his account based on the property certification?

"Don't you find it peculiar where I got the money from?

Let me tell you, all the money I've made from work these years is kept in my mom's account.

Along with the red envelope money given at our wedding, and my mother's life savings, we naturally paid off the debt.

As for you, I think it would be more reliable to sell yourself.

I forgot to mention, the deadline for repaying Micheal is the end of the month."

James finished speaking and passed by me with a smug look.

His smile, which used to seem so handsome and bright, has now become truly disgusting.

After walking a few steps, he suddenly turned back and looked at me, saying: "Also, I will make you pay for what you've done."

I was too upset to guess what James meant by his words.

All I could think about was how to repay Micheal's Nine hundred thousand!

Even selling myself over and over again wouldn't come close to that much money!

I wanted to discuss with Micheal if I can repay the debt in installments, but to my dismay, I couldn't find him.

Fortunately, even if I couldn't find him, someone else could help me.

Sarah's boyfriend, Tyler, gave me Lucas's home address, and I followed it to find him.

It's the weekend, he should be home.

Lucas is a wealthy man living in a high-end villa.

I felt out of place as I walked in.

Number 28, this is it.

I stood at the entrance and rang the doorbell.

Very quickly, someone came to open the door.
