Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 – Back Together

Jayjay's POV

I leaned against the wall near Adrian's living room, my phone pressed to my ear.

The air still felt heavy from everything that had happened, but I tried to sound calm.

"Angelo," I said softly, "I'll be sleeping over at Adrian's this weekend. Everyone's here and… we just need a break."

There was a short pause before my brother sighed.

"Alright. Just make sure to check in, okay?"

"Promise."

When the call ended, I let out a small breath. The night outside had already deepened — the streetlights casting long shadows through the wide windows. Just then, the doorbell rang.

Adrian and Yuri stepped in first, a cold gust of night air following them.

Yuri gave a tired smile.

"Mission complete. Kieran's safe and sound."

I nodded in relief, but before I could speak, another familiar sound filled the air — the deep growl of a car engine.

Everyone turned as the door opened again.

Keifer had arrived.

He stepped in, still wearing his flight jacket, his hair a little messy, exhaustion shadowing his eyes — but the moment our eyes met, it didn't matter.

Without thinking, I ran toward him.

He caught me before I even reached him fully, his arms wrapping around me tight.

For a few seconds, the noise, the worry, the world itself vanished — it was just the warmth of his chest, the smell of travel still clinging to him, and the faint tremble of his breath.

"You're here…" I whispered.

"Of course," he murmured, voice low. "I said I'd come back."

He pulled back slightly, brushing his thumb over my cheek.

"You okay?"

"Now I am."

Adrian cleared his throat from the side.

"Alright lovebirds, we've got work to do."

Everyone chuckled lightly — the tension finally breaking.

Edrix had already pulled up the map on his laptop, Ciel beside him with her headset ready.

"We've tracked the signal," Ciel said. "It's still moving but slower now — like it's circling."

"Then we move," Keifer replied immediately.

They all headed out, energy shifting from fear to focus.

Three cars lined the front of Adrian's house:

Keifer's black Jeep, Yuri's sleek BMW, and Adrian's dark Ford, the kind that had enough space at the back — perfect for their extra gear.

"Alright," Yuri said, tossing his keys up and catching them. "Who's with who?"

"Section E splits up," Adrian explained. "Ciel and Edrix will ride with me — they'll direct from the system. Keifer, take Jayjay and David. The rest go with Yuri."

We moved quickly, the cool night brushing against my face as I climbed into Keifer's Jeep. He glanced at me once before starting the engine — a small smirk curling at his lips.

"Ready, Miss Trouble?"

"Only if you are, Mr. Pilot."

The Jeep roared to life, headlights slicing through the dark road ahead as the others followed close behind — three cars in formation, moving as one.

From the rearview mirror, I could see Adrian's Ford with Ciel and Edrix leaning over their screens, guiding the way.

Somewhere beyond those roads, Keifer's brother was waiting — and maybe, the monster too.

But for now, we were together again.

And that made all the difference.
