Chapter 30 - CHAPTER 30 — “The Voice I Knew So Well "

Adrian's POV

The classroom felt quieter than usual. It wasn't that the teacher was boring — though he was — but more because Kiefer wasn't around. Normally, Kiefer would whisper something ridiculous during lessons, or give that small smirk that made everyone try not to laugh. Without him, even the walls seemed less alive.

Adrian leaned back on his chair, sighing as he glanced at the empty seat beside him. "London must be fun, huh?" he muttered under his breath.

Break time finally came, and students filled the corridors with chatter and laughter. Yuri dropped her bag beside Jayjay's desk and nudged Adrian lightly.

"Hey, you noticed Jayjay's been zoning out lately?" Yuri teased with a grin.

Adrian chuckled. "Of course. Someone's missing her boyfriend already."

Jayjay rolled her eyes but didn't reply. She was busy scrolling through her phone, pretending not to hear.

Then came a voice — calm, teasing, and unmistakable.

"If you miss your boyfriend that much, maybe you should call him instead."

The sound made Adrian freeze mid-laugh. The tone, the warmth — it couldn't be.

Jayjay's POV

At first, she ignored it, thinking it was just her imagination playing tricks on her again. But the voice echoed softly once more, through Yuri's phone this time.

Jayjay blinked, confusion washing over her.

"Wait… that voice…" she whispered.

Yuri grinned, turning the phone around. On the screen was Kiefer — his hair a little messy, eyes glowing under the dim light of his London apartment.

"Surprise," he said with that familiar half-smile. "Didn't expect to see me so soon, huh?"

Jayjay's heart skipped. "Yuri! You— you video-called him?"

"Of course," Yuri laughed. "You've been sighing all morning. I had to check if the lovesick patient was okay."

Adrian couldn't help but laugh. "And now the patient's treatment has arrived."

Jayjay covered her face in embarrassment, but Kiefer only chuckled softly.

"Hey, don't hide. I missed that face."

Yuri teased again, "Look at her blushing! Our strong Jayjay's turning soft."

Jayjay tried to change the topic, but Kiefer's voice lingered — warm, playful, and full of comfort she didn't even realize she needed.

"I'll call again tonight," Kiefer said before hanging up.

"So don't miss me too much, okay?"

And with that, the call ended, leaving Jayjay smiling quietly at her phone
