Chapter 7 - like a statue

Alexander nodded, he waved his hand dismissing him. Marcus bowed before leaving with the two men walking behind him.

Arthur walked in, his boot clicking to the marble tiles, a sound which marked his presence. He was holding a scroll and Alexander already knew what it was.

"I'll address his letter later, I'm not in the right mood." Alexander immediatly said before Arthur could say anything. He stood up from his throne and walked out of the room. Arthur didn't press further.

Serena opened her eyes, the light shone through the windows causing her to close it almost immediately, she sat up, a painful gasp escaped her lips. She touched her shoulders, she opened her eye looking at everywhere, she was still in the king's room.

Last night, he did not sleep with me why? She asked herself, he only marked her without sleeping with her, any king or noble man would take advantage of this moment to have pleasure with her but why didn't he? She was lost in her thoughts when the door opened, the maids from yesterday walked in.

"My lady, we're here to dress you up and afte the king wants to have breakfast with you." Sarah said. Serena just nodded her head, she was in no mood to talk to anyone.

"Hold on, I am going to bathe myself this morning, you can wait." Serena said, the two girls looked at themselves.

"But my lady, you know we can't defy the orders of the king, he'll kill us if we do." Anna voiced out.

"Please just listen to me, I'll make sure he doesn't know about it, you can stand there and wait for me." Serena said, she stood up and walked towards the bathroom.

"But my lady please—" Serena closed the door before she could finish her sentence, she bolted it from behind, she slumped down, her heart was beating fast, she leaned against the door touching her chest.

He drank my blood, does he plan to kill me? This is not good, no one is supposed to have a taste of my blood, I need strength. She said to herself, she took off her dress and jumped into the bathtub, she drowned herself in it closing her eyes and just then her two legs joined together, just like magic they formed in a tail, her light blue scales shimmer under the water.

She let out a sigh of relief, how much she missed the water. She just remained that way replenishing her energy. After a while, she took her bath and stepped out of the bathroom.

"Sorry for keeping you guys waiting." Serena apologized. Sarah had left the room to tend to something leaving just Anna alone. Anna's hand moved like a skilful dresser, one could tell she's done this for a long time. Serena was dressed in a long light blue dress, it's fabric, soft, beautiful and exquisite, it looked nice and expensive. It's sleeve was long and flare, the neckline of the dress didn't reveal any cleavage just exactly to her liking.

"You have really nice hair my lady, ginger hair is really rare and some say it is hard to take care of but yours is very pretty and healthy." Anna said smiling as she brushed her hair.

Serena smiled at the girls compliment. "Thank you, you look more pretty when you smile and please don't refer to me as lady when in private." she said.

Anna nodded, her smile widening. After she was done styling her hair, she excused herself leaving Serena alone.

She took in a deep breath, her life was going to change now and she had mixed feelings about it. Not too happy, not too sad. While she was lost in her thoughts, someone knocked on the door. She turned around and opened it to find a young man standing there. His black hair was a little long and fell down his face. Black eyes and well defined face. He was handsome and also looked stern.

"Good morning my lady, his highness asked me to escort you to the dining hall." He said, he had little to no facial expression.

Serena was surprised, why was the king treating her like she was some princess, first maids now a personal escort, what kind of servant is the king making her?

"Morning um—" Serena paused not knowing how to address him.

"Derrick." He said. "Shall we go?" He asked and she nodded. They both walked down the hallway. This was the first time in two days she was leaving the King's room and deep down it made her feel weird, scared maybe. She wondered how people would view her, a slave that the king bought now giving a good treatment? Though everthing was overwhelming, she'd rather choose this than to re–live her old life.

Derrick led the way, they walked through the dimly lit corridor of the palace and Serena was surprised, she marveled at the beauty of the palace, every corner, archway and furnitures were sculpted to perfection.

They stopped in front of the large door which Derrick pushed open, they stepped inside. A large room, in it was a long dining table, around it was chairs, a lot of them. The room was simple yet looked luxirous, the long widows were open leaving way for light to come in and there he was, seated at the last edge of dining table.

He sat like a king, head high dressed in white long sleeved shirt and black trouser, his midnight black eyes turned to look at them as they walked towards him. The way his eyes scanned her from head to toe made heart beat fast and conscious of herself.

They stopped in front of the King.

"Your highness." Derrick said with a bow.

"You may leave, see to what Arthur is doing at the moment." Alexander said without looking at him. He bowed once more before leaving.

"Good morning your highness." Serena greeted with a bow. He didn't reply just hummed.

"Why are you standing there like a statue, sit."
