"Why are you standing there like a statue? Sit." He finally said, his eyes moved to his food. Serena sat down opposite him, her mind was in a frenzy, only royals were permitted to seat on the dining table in the palace so she wondered why the king was giving her this opportunity.
"Eat to your fill, you'll need to replenish your energy." He said calmly.
"Thank you your majesty." Serena said with a nod, she looked at the varieties of food in front of her, she wondered when had last eaten a good meal. A sigh escaped her lips as she picked up a spoon. When she was captured, she learnt the different kinds of food eaten by non sea creatures.
Alexander eyes were on her, silent and observant, he wondered why she looked at the food as if she was reminiscing something, he could see the mixed emotions written on her face. What kind of life did she live?
"No apetite?" The king said leaning backwards, his voice much have started her, she jerked back slightly before looking at him.
"No your majesty. Thank you for your concern." Serena quickly picked up the spoon and took a bite. Ah so delicious. Serena said, the wide versality of flavors exploding in her mouth, she couldn't help but moan at the delicacy. Serena began chugging the food down her throat as if she was going to be away from food for months.
Everything tasted delicious and she was ready to eat to her fill, savouring and enjoying every bite. Alexander just watched as she ate so fast, she did not mind the hotness of the food, just then she chocked on something and began coughing.
He picked up a glass of water and handed it to her, she looked at him, her cheek flushed with embarrassment. Taking the cup from him, she drank from it.
"Thank you your majesty." She said, her voice low due to the burning sensation she felt in her throat.
"Don't talk and take more water, you'll feel better and eat slowly, if you keep eating like this at this rate you'll hurt yourself " Alexander said. He watched as she nodded obediently then ate her food slowly.
He picked up a napkin, leaning closer, he wiped the corner of her lips, Serena stifined her body, her eyes moved slowly to meet his. He pulled back before he continued to eat his food.
They both ate in silence until he dropped his cutleries.
"What kind of life did you live?" He asked. She was quite surprised by his question, she was not prepared for it at all, how would she explain that she as a mermaid who was captured by a vampire who tortured her.
"Well your majesty i—" She paused unsure of what to say or how to put it, If she was to lie how would she put it. Alexander watched her closely, he wondered why she held back?
"I lived a very—" She was Interrupted by the door swinging open, it gained both their attention.
"Brother!"
A voice called out in excitement, her soft voice radiating in the room. They both turned to the direction of the voice, she walked in, her long blue dress came in view, it has layers which made the dress full, decorated with golden pearls and gems, a corset which made it snatched at the waist, the neckline was high not revealing anything.
She was very pretty, her hair black, long and silky which was decorated with different golden and floral hair pins, black orbs, a little round face, small plum lips. Overall she was really pretty and from her outfit, she was definitely royal.
Alexander let out a tired sigh as she walked towards him with a wide smile.
"Brother, I am back." She said taking a seat beside him, The king just nodded his head and a frown formed on her face.
"Is that all? Brother, I've been away for two weeks and that is all you have to say to me, I am deeply hurt." She said faking a sad voice. Serena was surprised, he has a sister? Whenever she hears about the vampire king, she didn't hear anything about him having a sister.
Alexander sighed, he turned to look at her. "What are you doing here?" he asked uninterested in whatever she wanted to say.
"Well.... I should have been here the week the before but there was a slight delay in aunt's place, excuse all the boring part, I'm here now." She said with a light giggle.
He didn't say anything and just took a sip from his drink. "I am quite busy now, you should leave."
Amethyst turned her head to Serena, she scanned her face, a smile formed on her face. "Ah, so you're busy with her, sorry I did not see you there, this is the first time I am seeing my brother bring in a woman, hmm"
She stood up from her seat and walked towards Serena, she stared at her for a good amount of time and it did make Serena feel uncomfortable.
"I am amethyst, princess of Noct and you are?" She asked with a smile.
Serena's eyes moved first to the Vampire king before going back to the princess. "I am Serena, just Serena." she replied calmly.
"Nice to meet you Serena, I—" She was interrupted by the door swinging open to reveal Arthur and Derrick, they both walked in at the same time.
"Your—" he paused when his eyes landed on the princess. She waved happily at him to which he nodded.
"Your majesty, another letter from the human king arrived just now, he wants you to address this situation." Arthur announced.
The king stood up from his chair and made his way towards Arthur. The three men walked out of the room.
Amethyst hummed. "Those three and always leaving abruptly without even saying anything, I am sick of it." She murmured.
"Come on Serena, let us take a stroll in the garden." Amethyst said, he stretched her arms to which Serena took it, they both walked out.
