Alexander walked into his study only to find Arthur sitted with a paper in his hands. He dropped them immediately at the sight of the king.
"Your majesty good morning." Arthur greeted with a smile, he watched as Alexander walked to his seat and sat down relaxing his back.
"You're unusually in a good mood this morning, what is it you wish to ask?" Alexander said sensing his sheepish smile.
"So how was it?" He asked, there was a little excitement in his tone that was unnoticed by the King. Of course he would be excited to hear the news, who wouldn't be? He has never marked a woman before but unfortunately, he didn't have any good news to share.
"How was what?" He asked nonchalantly, though he knew what Arthur was referring to.
Arthur shook his head. "I can tell you're being sarcastic about it. Did you not mark her?"
"Why else would I ask you to prepare for the ceremony if I was not going to partake in the ceremony?" The Vampire king asked, he closed his eyes, right now he wished to be alone but that was impossible with Arthur around.
Arthur nodded his head, hmm something is not right, he could tell Alexander would be rather moody after what took place last night but this is reaction was different. Arthur's eyes widen
"Do not tell me—Your highness, I'm stupid to not realise this." Arthur said immediately understanding the gravity of the situation—Alexander does not necessarily need to sleep with her to mark her, biting her alone is enough. He knew Alexander would do anything than to sleep with her.
Arthur cleared his throat. "Lord Marcus is here."
Alexander opened his eyes, he's here already, fast isn't he. He had expected the king to be shocked but here he was staring at him with a blank expression. "Where is he?"
"In the courtroom."
Alexander stood up from his chair and walked out of the study with Arthur tailing behind him. They both walked into the courtroom. Everyone around there stood up to greet him, except someone, Marcus was the only one seated.
"Your majesty, I didn't know you where there." Marcus said with a bow nonchalanty acting as if he didn't know the king just entered. Alexander just walked to his throne, he lowered himself settling down.
"What brings you to my kingdom?" He asked not beating around the bush, his gaze never left Marcus, they both stared at each other, the aura of Lord Marcus and The Vampire king was deadly and oppressing. Eveyone in the courtroom felt it, the deadly silence made things worse. But no matter what, Lord Marcus aura couldn't compete with the King. His calm demineor made things suffocating.
"Still as direct as ever, well.." He said, a smile appeared on his but the look on the face of the king showed he wasn't in the mood for any jokes. His expression turned serious.
"Three vampires were killed last night, the attacker remain unknown, while the other vampires had killed five humans and we're captured." He said.
The King's brow knit into a frown. "Three dead and others killed humans, it is a clear rule that no one should take blood from humans." He said, his voice grew cold. "I'll send my condolences to the families of those who's been killed and also my apologies to the king." He said turning his gaze to his advisor, Arthur who was standing beside him signally him to have it all prepared immediately.
"Yes your majesty, no right thinking vampire would do such, I am suggesting they have been used for something, perhaps an experiment, I'm sure that's why three vampire's are dead, they were weak and show signs of being half vampire and human." Marcus said.
"Rogue vampires, why would a human create an experiment with the vampires, no one has fully understood the experiment in turning a vampire to rogue." The king stated, he was quite amused by the news he was hearing though it didn't show.
Marcus shrugged. "It has to be humans, no vampire would want to harm it's own kind, what would they gain from it?" He asked. He believed it was a human behind it, given the hate relationship between vampires and humans, though vampires has killed a lot of humans in order to survive, they still couldn't compete because vampires are superior to them. King Calum would stop at nothing to bring King Alexander to his feet. This could end up with a sanction or war.
A sigh escaped Alexander's lips, the sound vibrated through the walls of the courtroom. "You of all people should know the nature of our people." He states as a matter of fact.
Vampires were known to be strong, fast and very cunning creatures, no one could tell what was going on in a vampires mind and if it had to do with taking blood from humans.
"So what do you suggest we do now?" Marcus asked breaking the silence.
"We, would start investigating the experiment on the rogue vampires, check how far it has reached and if it can be reversed and we also have to find out who's behind this." He paused, his voice grew colder and his eyes darkened staring deeply at Marcus. "And also keep a close watch on your people Marcus."
Marcus shivered at the menacing tone of the king, composing himself, he cleared his throat. "Yes your majesty, I'll be here for two day, the captives will be brought in and I need to be here." He said expecting the king to say something but he only nodded.
"Sure make yourself comfortable in my palace, you will get whatever you need." Alexander said, his voice sharp reminding him of his warning earlier. He stood up from the chair.
"Thank you for you hostility your majesty." Marcus said calmly not wanting to overstep his boundaries. The King's sharp eyes just watched him. Two men walked towards him, they were to escort him to his room but he stopped turning back to the king.
"And—" Marcus began only to be interrupted by the King.
"The girl—she's mine now." He said possessively, his tone led no room for a negotiation. Alexander didn't fail to notice Marcus clench and unclenched his fist supressing his anger.
"Of course your majesty, I was already informed that you took her." He said suppressing his rage, the look on the kings face made his anger boil even more. He would get the girl no matter what.
