Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

The gu master I've enslaved, San Li Chiao, stares at the three rank 5 Blood Python Gu in front of the two of us.

Each rank of Blood Python Gu is bigger and meaner than the one before it. Rank 5 Blood Python Gu is, for all intents and purposes, absolutely gargantuan. A single one of these gu worms would be more than sufficient to exterminate an entire clan, having three of the things is overkill.

Their food, human blood, is pretty easy to get. I take one of the Blood Pythons for myself, taking it into my aperture, and leave the other two for San Li Chiao.

Although now that both his clan and family have been rendered extinct, he's kind of just Chiao now. He extends his hands to the two pythons, who lower their gigantic heads down to him, before touching them on the snout.

I allow the two to be refined by him, after which he stores them inside of his aperture. Right now he's pretty weak, but he'll grow much stronger as he keeps using the gu worm set I've given him to refine his body. Until then those two pythons should be more than enough to keep him safe.

Those two aren't the only gu worms that I've given him. He has some more gu worms, one half of which are to facilitate communication between the two of us. The other half are there to let me teleport to him.

If I know exactly where he is relative to me I should be able to get to him in at most a few teleports. There is the risk of teleporting into the ground, which I really need to get some schmuck to test for me at some point to see what happens, but if I just teleport really high into the sky I should be fine.

There isn't anything left for me to do here. This guy knows his mission, which is to go around destroying clans, eating people and growing stronger, and I don't really care much to make smalltalk with what will become my future meal. I teleport away from the now lifeless mountain, before finding myself in a small, empty camp.

Ningbing wanted to remain in the city for a few more days, and I didn't really want to lug around any of my concubines with me. They're all much safer in the city. I might have the luck to rival a son of heaven, but I'd rather not push it too much.

I prepare the fire, before putting in some vegetables, spices, meat and water in a pot. Said pot goes on the fireplace, which I promptly lit on fire with the use of a gu worm. As I wait for the stew to cook I gaze into the night sky.

Going back to Wu clan's city in a day or so would be kind of suspicious. Travel time means that a day isn't nearly enough for me to get anywhere important, so I need some kind of alibi to hide the fact that I can teleport.

Said Alibi is that I'm searching for inheritances, which isn't exactly a lie. There's nothing better for me to really do while waiting in the wilderness. I get up and give the stew a glance, the water has started boiling.

Sheng Cui told me that all I really need to make a stew is some vegetables, spices, water and, optionally, meat. According to her I'm just supposed to wait for the water to boil away, until it's mostly just vegetables and meat left.

Three days later.

I stand on the back of my flying eagle, staring with some wonder at the erupting volcano in front of me.

Since I have no actual idea where any inheritance is supposed to be I've taken to just traveling in a random direction. My luck should hopefully get me to something worthwhile.

This is the first time in either life that I've watched an active volcano erupt. Lava isn't exploding off of the top, like it would in a movie, it's just kinda… flowing out. There's the village of some clan right at the base of the mountain, the gu masters are holding back the lava using gu worms and killer moves with some success.

Some of the village is damaged, but nothing beyond repair. Staying in the same spot would still be pretty stupid, but if there are no other spirit springs nearby then they are kinda locked in this spot.

I don't care much for the village or the gu masters living there. I could kill them all and refine some more gu, but I just kinda don't feel like it.

Most of the gu worms that I wanted to refine I already have, and none of my blood path gu need any feeding.

Now, if I was an inheritance, where would I be? Would I be further ahead?

I flip a coin, said coin lands on tails. I would not. Would I be behind?

I flip a coin, said coin lands on heads. I would. Would I be in the volcano?

I flip a coin, said coin lands on heads. That kinda sucks.

The volcano continues spewing out lava, I have the eagle fly us right above it, while keeping us at a high enough altitude to be at a safe distance. The virtuous option would be to fly into the volcano, using gu worms to keep myself safe from the lava.

I instead order the eagle to take us a bit closer to the mountain, before waving my hand and activating the Amplified Golden Moonglow killer move. Amplify Effect Gu boosts Golden Moon Gu, Big Light Gu boosts it further and my extreme physique takes the killer move to a whole new level.

What would have otherwise been a regular rank 3 level attack is made into the level of a top grade rank 5 attack. The mountain is cleaved in half, spewing even more of the lava through the newly created cracks.

I use the killer move again, splitting the mountain once again. This last attack, combined with the eruption, completely demolishes the mountain. The gu masters that were previously succeeding in saving their village are all engulfed by a torrent of molten rock and superheated dust.

If there was any mortal inheritance in the mountain it's now destroyed. A mortal inheritance would not be something that I am looking for though. At my current level the only thing really worth my time exploring would be an immortal inheritance.

The eagle takes me higher, away from the blazing inferno that I've unleashed below. It'll take a few days for the area to settle down, I think, after which searching for the inheritance should be much more simple.

Since there's nothing else here for me to do I take the eagle back into my aperture and teleport away. My feet land on the grass of a mountain, located in the middle of the wilderness.

After making camp and putting on another pot of stew I sit down to ruminate on the incomplete immortal gu recipe I got from the San clan. The recipe is incomplete, but trying to complete it feels like a good way to improve my refinement path capabilities.

As the stew cooks I continue thinking on the immortal gu recipe, either adding in a few steps or removing others. Using the recipe as is wouldn't necessarily be a failed refinement, in theory at least, but it would be kind of like cooking with the wrong recipe and hoping to get not just good food, but the correct food.

It would take some luck, which means that it's not impossible for me to get it working, but having the complete recipe is much, much better. By the time the stew is done I have the recipe down to about 10% complete.

An immortal gu recipe is an immortal gu recipe, completing one isn't easy. I haven't used any methods that would need to use gu worms either, so getting it from 5% complete to 10% is actually pretty decent.

The next few days pass fairly quickly and peacefully. I wake up in the morning, prepare something for breakfast, usually scrambled eggs, then spend the rest of the day working on the immortal gu recipe. Once midday arrives I put on a pot of stew on the fire, which I eat when it's done cooking.

Once around five days pass I unpack the camp, put everything back into storage type gu worms, take the eagle gu out of my aperture and mount it, before then teleporting back to the volcano.

Said volcano has stopped erupting, on account of it not really existing anymore. The land around the mountain is now dead and barren, the eagle flies me down. Once we reach the ground I jump off of it and take it back into my aperture.

Now, it's time to search for that immortal inheritance. I take out my trusty coin, smile, and get to searching.

AN:

Mentioned it in mephistophelian, but imma mention it here as well:

I'm kinda sick, so i'll have to post shorter chapters for a bit. Imma keep posting to maintain my posting schedule.

If you notice any mistakes please let me know so I can get them fixed.

I also remember promising y'all a chicken recipe, so here it is:

Mix in a small bowl the following spices:

One tablespoon smoked paprika.

Two teaspoons garlic powder (I put more, but I am a garlic man. Feel free to use raw garlic too, that one's much better)

Salt to taste (however much u want)

Two teaspoons black pepper.

Three teaspoons coriander.

Three bay leaves.

+whatever spices u like, this recipe is pretty flexible.

Now take your chicken , ideally in breast format (A whole packet of chicken breast, 500g) but thigh also works, and start cutting.

Cut against the muscle fiber, which for breast means sideways, and cut slices as thinly as you realistically can. Don't sweat too much, just make em thin.

Now put your chicken in a cooking pot, throw in two tablespoons of greek yoghurt (Low or high fat, whatever u want or have) and then the spices before mixing well.

Put this new yoghurt chicken spice mix on the stove at low heat and go do something else while it cooks.

The slower you make it the better it will be.

I like to eat this as shawarma, so pita bread, mayo and fries. You can look up how to roll one on youtube or just eat it plated.

Rice might work as a side dish too, haven't tried it that way xd.

Enjoy!
