After two failed grabs, the Lizardman, his mind still muddled from the transformation, felt his negative emotions building. Rage began to flash in his eyes.
"Roar!" Suddenly, he roared, grabbing Niels' car and tossing it over the side of the bridge! "Aaaaaah!" Niels screamed in terror.
Even though he was inside the car, hitting the water from such a high bridge meant only one thing: death! He still had a bright future ahead of him; he didn't want to die!
"Oh-ho-ho~ Guess who? The Spider-Express is arriving at its destination!" A nimble figure descended from the sky.
It was Peter!
He first executed a swinging kick, knocking the Lizardman to the ground, then leaped to the edge of the bridge, shooting Webbing to catch Niels' car.
Of course, he didn't know who was inside, didn't even recognize Niels, and didn't know that at least half of this situation was actually Niels' "doing."
If he had known... well, he probably still would have saved him. If he hadn't, he wouldn't be Peter Parker.
However, after saving him, he might gather evidence and bring Niels to court, ensuring he received the appropriate punishment.
In fact, since getting onto the bridge, he had already saved seven cars. This was the eighth.
Some cars had people inside, others were empty.
But he couldn't worry about that right now.
Because he noticed more cars were still flying off the bridge ahead.
Furthermore, his Spider-Sense was trembling, warning him of a dangerous presence on the bridge.
And that, he figured, was the root of all this!
When he finally made his way forward, he found the Lizardman!
Peter wrapped the Webbing attached to Niels's car around the bridge's support beams several times, securing it, and then added a few more strands for added stability.
After quickly finishing, he turned to look at the Lizardman.
The Lizardman, after being kicked down by Peter, seemed to have regained his senses.
He stood up, staring blankly at Peter, then looked at the direction he had come from, where flames occasionally erupted.
He took two steps back, as if he couldn't believe he had done all this.
At this moment, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his hand.
The Lizardman raised his arm and found that his newly grown left hand was rapidly dissolving.
He understood; the effects of the Lizard Serum had worn off!
Realizing this, the Lizardman didn't dare to delay any longer. He turned and rushed toward the edge of the bridge, jumping directly into the vast ocean.
Peter was slightly taken aback. He'd prepared to fight this Mini-Godzilla, but it had just run away?
Could it be that it was scared off by my Spider-Man's imposing aura?
Peter thought to himself, quite pleased with himself.
"Help! Somebody help me! Please, my child is trapped in the car!" A father's anxious voice reached Peter's ears from not far away.
Peter glanced at the direction the Lizardman had gone, his Spider-Sense weakening. He figured the Lizardman wouldn't be back anytime soon.
After confirming this, Peter quickly ran towards the father.
Directly below the anxious father was a car that the Lizardman had just thrown off the bridge, but Peter had caught it in time, suspending it from the bridge.
Peter jumped to the back of the car, found the right spot, and smashed the rear window with a punch, then lifted it open.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Sure enough, a little boy in the back seat was screaming in terror.
"Hey, hey, kid, calm down, calm down!" Peter shouted.
"Get away!" The little boy seemed frightened by Peter.
Well, it's all thanks to this world's J. Jonah Jameson. That guy has been slandering Spider-Man, plus this world's Peter's actions before were indeed self-serving.
Combining the two, it led to his image being worse than both Shadow Spider-Man and Peter's original world's Spider-Man.
"Osborn should really lock Jonah in a cage, preferably with a tiger," Peter muttered under his breath.
After hesitating, he reached up and took off his spider mask. "Hey, kid, look, I'm a person too, I'm a big brother!"
The little boy turned around to look at him, stopping his meaningless shouting.
Peter forced a smile: "Not so scary, right?"
The young boy nodded slightly. Peter's sunny disposition did indeed dispel his fear, at least making him seem more approachable than when he was wearing the mask.
Peter gestured towards the spider mask in his hand. "Could you hold this for me?"
The boy's curiosity overcame his fear at that moment.
He looked at the spider mask in Peter's hand with curiosity, nodding again.
Peter then tossed the spider mask over.
"Put it on, Jack," Peter said, seeing the name on the backpack. "I'll get you up there."
"Okay." Jack put the spider mask on. The mask, modeled after Peter's head, was obviously a bit too big for him.
However, the enclosed nature of the spider mask allowed the boy to temporarily forget his surroundings, leaving only Peter in his eyes.
Peter saw that the little boy was stable, so he slowly climbed into the car and unbuckled the boy's seatbelt. Then, he grabbed the boy's hand and led him back the way they came.
Just then, Peter smelled a pungent odor.
His Spider-Sense was tingling again.
Damn it, it's gasoline!
Peter realized that perhaps the Lizardman's attack earlier had caused the car's fuel tank to leak.
If that was the case, the whole car could easily catch fire! He had to hurry!
Buzz! His Spider-Sense suddenly went haywire!
Without hesitation, Peter pulled the boy into his arms and quickly began climbing upwards with his other hand.
At the same time, the vehicle suddenly erupted in a ball of fire.
Under the scorching flames, the webbing that had been pulling the vehicle was directly burned through, and the entire car plummeted!
"Ahhhhh!" The little boy screamed again.
However, Peter had already arrived at the back window of the car.
He pushed off with his foot, stomping hard, and came outside the car. Then, he shot out another strand of webbing, carrying the little boy and stopping in mid-air.
"Hey, kid, you're safe now," Peter said with a smile, looking down.
The little boy stopped screaming and looked up at him.
"Can you help me put my mask back on?" Peter lowered his head a little further.
The little boy took off the mask and put it on Peter's head: "Thank you, big brother."
"You're welcome, Jack," Peter replied, "And, I'm Spider-Man!"
"Thank you, big brother Spider-Man."
"Heh heh heh~" Peter couldn't help but laugh.
Whether in another world or this one, this was the first time he'd been thanked by someone he'd helped.
Even though it was just a child, it was really important to him.
Because it made him feel that his efforts weren't in vain!
In fact, this was a mutual affirmation between the savior and the saved.
As for who was the savior and who was the saved... who knows?
