"Awesome job, Spider-Man!"
A child's voice came from above, having watched Spider-Man turn the tables. He couldn't help but cheer for him.
Peter leaped lightly and landed on the window where the child stood. "Thanks for the support, kid. Could you call the police for me?"
"Sure thing, Spider-Man!"
Peter waved and climbed onto the roof, ready to catch his breath.
In reality, his body wasn't fully healed. He had pushed through the last fight.
He needed to relax his entire body so that the healing could speed up.
Found a corner to sit in, leaned his head against the wall, and Peter quietly thought about things.
He had originally planned to follow Captain Stacy, hoping to show off in front of him and improve his image.
But after that interruption, it was clear that he'd lost him.
He needed to find a way to get Captain Stacy back.
Just then.
Buzz—
The phone in his pocket vibrated.
Peter took out his phone and saw a message from Gwen: [Hope you're okay, everything alright? Something happened at the Williamsburg Bridge.]
"Williamsburg Bridge! Thanks, Gwen!" Peter understood. Gwen had gathered this information for him, fearing he might lose track.
Gwen also hoped Peter could improve Spider-Man's image in her father's eyes.
Otherwise, it would be a conflict between the two people she loved most – her boyfriend and her father. One was love from romance and the other from family.
She was caught in the middle, truly torn.
Yes, it was really difficult for her.
She actually wanted Peter to clear Spider-Man's name even more desperately than he did!
Peter put his phone back into his suit pocket, stood up, and stretched.
After resting for a while, his body had indeed recovered completely.
During this break, he also figured out what was wrong with the Web-Shooters.
A small screw inside had come loose, causing the button to get stuck.
A simple push fixed the problem.
But he wasn't finished.
Peter then made some adjustments to the Web-Shooters.
This was based on his experience from another world.
After slightly adjusting the parameters, the Web-Shooters, which originally only had one firing mode, now had three.
Peter tested the web-shooters. Excellent, it worked as expected!
"Great, let's go!" Peter's eyes lit up as he looked up.
In the sky not far away, a helicopter was also heading towards the Williamsburg Bridge.
"How about a free ride? I'm such a clever Spider-Man!"
Peter started with a short run-up, then leaped high into the air, shooting a web that stuck to the bottom of the helicopter. He then effortlessly hung from it.
"That little incident wasted some time. I hope it's not too late by the time I get there!"
Meanwhile.
On the distant Williamsburg Bridge, the traffic was slowly coming to a halt.
Niles Van Rader sat in a car, feeling impatient as the vehicle stopped.
He had just threatened the useless Curt Connors at the Osborn Company.
He made Connors send the preliminary medicine, under the guise of a flu vaccine, to the Veterans Hospital for secret human trials.
But that ungrateful jerk actually rejected him!
There was no other choice; he had to go himself.
Now, he was on his way to the Veterans Hospital in Brooklyn.
But this damn traffic was completely jammed up!
"Alfred, can you go see what's going on? When will this damn traffic start moving?" Niles said, forcing patience into his tone.
"Yes, Doctor," Alfred, the driver, opened the door and got out.
Thump!
Not long after Alfred left, the car's rear end was given a nasty kiss, and the entire car shook.
"Oh~" Niles was speechless, "That's just great."
Boom!
Before he could even finish complaining, the car behind him suddenly slammed into his, causing his car to veer off course and crash directly into the edge of the bridge.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing!" Niles turned his head and yelled in anger.
At this moment, he noticed that on the Williamsburg Bridge outside the car windows, many people were screaming and fleeing towards the other side of the bridge.
"What's happening?"
"Get back in the car!"
"Hey, what's going on back there?"
"Mom!"
"Oh, motherfucker!"
There was chaos on the bridge. Niles was also a little panicked by these chaotic emotions, not knowing what exactly had happened.
However, he had a vague feeling that something was wrong.
After a moment of hesitation, he decided to follow the crowd and get away from this mess first!
However, when he went to open the car door, he found it was locked and wouldn't open! "Damn it!" Niles pulled hard a few times and kicked at it, but the door remained stubbornly shut.
No way out. When he got rear-ended, this car, of all things, got wedged in! There was another car to the left, and the edge of the bridge to the right, so he couldn't get out! At this moment, he glanced back in a panic and saw a giant figure, and froze.
That figure was over two meters tall, with a long tail trailing behind it. Its body was covered in green, bumpy skin – it was clearly a giant, humanoid Lizard-Man! "What the hell is that thing!" Niles was terrified.
He saw the Lizard-Man was looking into the cars one by one with its head, as if searching for something.
Stare! Just as Niles was looking at the Lizard-Man, suddenly, the Lizard-Man's head turned and made eye contact with him.
"Niles," the Lizard-Man spat out a name, and strode towards Niles.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The heavy footsteps made the bridge surface tremble slightly with each step.
And each stomp seemed to land right on Niles's heart!
He didn't know why, but he felt that this hideous Lizard-Man monster was after him!
Bang!
The limousine's glass shattered instantly as a large hand with sharp claws reached inside.
Niles cowered in terror in the opposite corner of the car.
The Lizard-Man's hand grabbed nothing but air, tearing the leather seats to shreds!
Bang!
Another sound.
The car shook, and the Lizard-Man jumped onto the luxury vehicle, then swiped downwards with a mighty claw, ripping a huge hole in the roof!
Niles frantically dodged again, this time hiding under the back seat.
The sharp claws grazed his suit, tearing the front of his suit into strips of fabric.
A smell of urine began to slowly fill the car.
