Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Meeting the In-Laws

Snow stepped into the mansion, her heels tapping softly against the marble floor. The wide lobby opened up with tall ceilings and a chandelier dripping with crystal lights, its glow reflecting off the polished tiles.

A grand staircase swept down from the upper floor to the ground. Different paintings lined the walls, and the furniture was perfectly arranged.

It was impressive, yes, but not new to her. She had grown up in halls like these. The difference was, her family's house had always carried laughter and warmth. This one felt colder, like beauty without a soul.

She turned to Adrian, who was in front of her, interlocking her arms with his. "Hubby, your place is really nice."

Adrian pulled his arms from her hold. "Stay away from me you filthy woman." His gaze hardened, scrutinizing her entire existence.

Snow forced a smile. "Are you mad at me for coming to the party?…" She pouted her lips. "I didn't mean to make you mad, okay. It's just that you made me spend our wedding night alone."

Her smile widened seeing the irritation in his eyes. "How are you going to make up with me?"

He held her gaze, his brows furrowed. "Listen up, I'll give you one chance to explain how the hell my signature appeared on the marriage papers."

Snow sniffled. "Hubby, I'm hungry."

Adrian stared at her coldly, his expression was nonchalant and distant, a sharp contrast to his behavior before.

Before Snow could dwell on the difference in his demeanor.

"My food is not for a homeless wretch." A cold detached voice came from the stairs, followed by the footsteps climbing down the stairs.

Snow raised her brows, turning around. Her hands clenched tightly before relaxing again. She plastered a smile on her face, seeing the Quinn family members coming into the living room.

They didn't hide the disgust on their faces.

"Mother!" Snow ran to Madam Quinn. She grabbed her hand gently and affectionately. "Mother, I didn't know you were home. My greetings mother." She retracted her hand, bending her knees in greeting with her hands to her side.

She held Madam Quinn's hands again. "Mother, your son is very naughty… he told me he was going to punish me, threatening he wouldn't let me sleep tonight." She said shyly, swinging their hands like a child.

She leaned in closer to Madam Quinn's ears. "He said he was going to smack my ass and tie me up."

Madam Quinn's eyes widened from the vulgar words. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment. She quickly retreated her hands from Snow's grip.

"A lady should know how to speak with grace and modesty." Her stern voice echoed through the room.

Snow lowered her head, "I apologize Mother for making you angry."

"What do you mean by Mother? Does she look like your mother? Or you don't have eyes?" A young lady around the age of twenty, snickered.

Her neck was decked with jewelry, and her 12-inch black hair was parted to fall on both sides of her face.

She wore a coat and a shorts skirt, which glittered like stars. A glint flickered through Snow's eyes but she quickly masked it with a surprised look.

She tilted her head to the side. "What do you mean by that? Of course, she is my mother, after all I am married to her son."

'This must be the famous daughter of the Quinn family, Michelle Quinn. An actress with no talent.'

"Married? You won't speak about that unless you tell me how I signed the marriage papers." Adrian walked to her front, his presence alone chilled the air.

"You heard that? My brother doesn't acknowledge you. Why don't you go back to the street where you came from?" Michelle rolled her eyes.

Snow stared at the siblings in shock, she ran to Madam Quinn, tugging her sleeve. Tears began to stream down her face. "Mother, see how they are talking to me like I'm not part of the family. Mother, what should I do?" she sobbed, tilting her chin up as she closed her eyes.

Madam Quinn stared at her with mixed feelings. 'Could it be true that she is really Adrian's wife?' She shook her head. "That cannot be true, I raised Adrian too well to fall for this disgrace. Moreover, he will never marry anyone apart from his childhood love. He had even rejected all the blind dates that I had arranged for him.'

Her eyes lingered on Snow's crying face. 'Adrian will never marry a lady as uncultured as her. She is nowhere near Adrian's type… this must be a trick. This vixen actually tried to trick my family and me.'

Madam Quinn pulled her sleeve away. She scoffed. "Do you think it is that easy to become a Quinn? My son doesn't acknowledge you, and you are trying to win my favour." She tilted her chin, pushing out her chest.

"Keep dreaming." She said with every ounce of authority.

Snow lowered her. 'Oh no. I need to get her on my side, else I wouldn't spend a day in this house.'

"What is going on here?" The words cut through the air, each one echoing with authority. A heavy walking stick struck the floor as the owner stepped closer from behind them.
