Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Dinner with the Quinns (1)

"Mr. Quinn… I… I," The maid stammered.

Adrian's face turned colder. "You dared to insult Quinn?" His eyes narrowed at her. "You are fired."

Silence fell on the room, the maid's eyes widened as if they were about to pop out, and she fell on her knees. "Mr. Quinn, please forgive me, I didn't mean to insult her… please, I'm the only child of my parents… and I have to work to support my home, my mother is ill and my father…" She sobbed. "Is unable to work."

She hit her head on the ground sobbing.

Snow poked inside her mouth with her tongue, before walking to Adrian's side. She gently held Adrian's hand. "Hubby, she's the only breadwinner of her family… I feel so sad." She lowered her head.

Adrian pulled his hand away, glaring at her before turning to the maid. "Get out now, or I have someone drag you out." His menacing voice made the maid stumble to her feet.

The maid bowed one last time, She walked past them, Adrian caught a glimpse of the five red marks on her face.

Immediately the door slammed shut, and Adrian grabbed Snow's hand. "You hit her?"

Snow blinked innocently at him, "no I didn't, she hit herself to frame me," she wiped the invisible tears from her eyes. "Look at me Adrian…"

"It is Mr. Quinn for you." He cut in.

"Look at me, do I look like someone who could hurt an ant? I don't even have what it takes to hit her." She stared at him innocently.

Adrian's brows furrowed slightly, something was wrong about the woman standing in front of him but he didn't know what it was… 'Pretentious, wait till I unravel all your secrets.' He thought to himself.

He opened the document, a look of satisfaction flickered through his eyes as he scanned through the papers, and he masked with irritation the moment his eyes landed on Snow.

"I told you no intimate contact. You just broke the rules."

Snow rolled her eyes inwardly. "But I had to in front of others right?" Her eyes rounded with cuteness, as if she was implying I did the right thing.

"No, not in front of others," He took out a napkin and wiped the spot she had held him.

"Do you find me disgusting now?"

"Do you really have to ask that?" He scoffed. "You should shower, you look like the Joker." He clicked his tongue before turning to the door.

He stopped midway, "Grandma wants you to have dinner with the family, be on your best behavior." Without waiting for her reply, he strode out of the room with the document.

The moment he was out of view, Snow let out a chuckle, "Okay, I'll be on my best behaviour." She pressed her lips into a thin line.

....

(Moments later in the Quinn Estate)

Snow made her the dining room after taking a shower. She stopped behind the wall eavesdropping on the family's conversation.

"Mother, I know you always wanted to have a daughter-in-law, however that lady is not suitable for our family… the moment she came into my son's life, the company lost more than 15 percent of the stock. I believe she has an agenda, Mother." Madam Quinn said politely, but her expression was that of worry.

"Grandma, she looks like a homeless dog, why should we take her in? We could easily pay her off and find a man for her to get married to, why does it have to be my brother." Michelle folded her arms across her chest with a defiant look.

Grandma Quinn remained unmoved by their speech. "Your son is already past 30 years, if not now when is he going to get married?" She asked, tilting her chin up.

"Mother, you know he has a very good relationship with the Gu family, and you know how he loves their daughter," Madam Quinn stared at Grandma Quinn with dissatisfaction, almost glaring at her for the matchmaking. "We got some news about Miss. Gu, she'll be arriving in the country tomorrow… maybe she is back to get married to Adrian, and now you have matched him with that vixen."

Grandma Quinn slammed her hand on the table, making Madam Quinn and Michelle flinch in their seat.

"This old lady and her temper." Madam Quinn muttered under her breath.

"Why are you blaming me?" Grandma Quinn shouted in anger. "Was your son not the one who signed the marriage papers? How did I match them, when they are already married?"

"Mother… I didn't mean to…"

Grandma Quinn cuts in. "When you got married to my son back then, you were as poor as a gutter rat… now why are you talking about reputation? You didn't care about my family reputation back then." She slammed her hand on the table again.

"Grandma," Snow walked out of the corner she was peeking from, she wore a sweet smile, one that seemed repulsive to the mother and daughter duo.

Grandma Quinn smiled the moment she saw her, she turned to Madam Quinn and Michelle, "Be nice." She mouthed to them.

Michelle scoffed, looking at the approaching eyesore.
