Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 You Can’t Afford This

Arriving at the five-star Phoenix Plaza, Snow Bai stepped out of the car. She wore a nose mask and a face cap. Madam Quinn stared with a scowl, she did not want to be seen with her. According to her, Snow Bai looked nothing but a commoner and the cap and the mask only made her look like a criminal.

How could she, the Madam of the Quinn family, be seen with someone like her?

She walked past Snow, stopping a few meters from her. "You have the card, go shopping on your own." Without waiting for her reply, she resumed walking, taking all the guards with her.

Snow Bai scoffed. "As if I wanted to be seen with you." She muttered under her breath.

She tucked her hand in her pants, making her way inside the mall. When she stepped inside, the first thing she noticed was the open design. The floors were built in wide rings, each level bordered with glass panels and gold handrails.

Right in the middle of the ground floor, a golden phoenix statue was built as a water fountain. Its wings were spread wide open like it was about to soar into the sky. The water that came out of its mouth was like fire, red and beautiful.

With one glance, Snow Bai could tell this mall was worth millions. She nodded her head in satisfaction and decided it was time to go shopping.

She arrived at the fifth floor, and it was so clean that a speck of dust was not seen. The arrangement of the malls was elegant.

Snow Bai stopped in front of a mall, and a sales assistant stared at her from head to toe, then forced a smile.

"How may I help you... ma." She asked in a descending tone.

Snow Bai adjusted her facecap so the lady could see her eyes. "I want your most expensive dress." She replied in the same tone.

The smile faltered on the young lady's face. "Are you sure you can afford our clothes?" She said in a sweet tone while her eyes stared down at her in disgust.

Snow Bai remained silent, her cold gaze piercing through the lady's wall of confidence. After a long stare down, the lady gestured with her hand. "This way, Ma."

"Are you sure you didn't come to the wrong place? Only Elites shop in our mall. And looking at you, you don't seem like you earn that much." The lady smiled forcibly, her heels clicking the floor with annoyance.

She eyed one of her colleagues, contemplating whether she should send Snow Bai out.

Getting to the clothes section, she turned around with a smile. "These clothes are limited, they are very expensive and…"

Snow Bai raised her hand, cutting her words off. "I want this dress." She pointed at a black dress slitted at the side, with two straps running from the chest area to the back. The middle was narrowed to accentuate the wearer's curves.

The saleswoman cussed under her breath in disbelief. "There are only five pieces of the dress in the world, and you want to buy it? Can you afford it? It costs millions of dollars." She scoffed, seething in anger.

Before Snow Bai could respond to her, a lady in her late twenties walked up to them. "What is going on here?" the lady in flashy clothes and jewelry asked in concern.

But the moment her eyes fell on Snow Bai, a look of disdain flickered through her eyes, she flipped her hair to the back, before speaking. "Don't tell me your shop now welcomes homeless people," She fanned the air. "What is that sticky smell?" The lady wriggled her nose, side-eyeing Snow Bai.

Snow Bai stared at the two women who were adamant to make things hard for her. She sighed deeply. "Where can I make the payment?" she asked calmly.

The two women burst out in a fit of laughter as if she had cracked the joke of the century.

The woman in a flashy dress wiped away her imaginary tears. "That dress is mine." The smile on her face disappeared, replaced by a mocking expression.

Snow Bai scoffed. "Yours?" she walked closer to the lady, tilting her chin up.

The lady brought out her card, handing it over to the saleswoman. "Swipe it, I'm taking the dress."

"You wouldn't dare, I came first and I picked the dress." Snow Bai's eyes narrowed dangerously, her fist clenching by her side.

The woman scoffed. "Do you even know how much this dress costs?" She walked closer to Snow Bai, pushing a strand of hair to the back of her ear, while stylishly flaunting her jewellery. "People like you shouldn't waste our time, and besides I'm doing you a favour by buying it, tell me who else would want something that has been touched by you." She stylishly covered her nose.

The mockery ripples through the air, causing the other high-esteemed customers to glance at them.

Snow remained silent with an unreadable expression. These people would regret this moment of humiliating her.

"Who knows she might be a shoplifter." The woman said out loud, so that the other customers would side with her.

"That is true, look at the way she is dressed."

"She looks like a thief, I believe she must have come to steal."

"Why would the security even let someone like her enter the mall?"

Hearing the other customers' words, the woman in a flashy dress grew bolder. "Oh!" she exclaimed innocently. "Shouldn't you search her, I just saw her steal some clothes."

The saleswoman was stunned by the sudden allegation, but why would she want to fall on the bad side of the elites? The flashy woman must be an heiress of a rich family, better to offend a nobody than her.

"Security!" The saleswoman yelled.

Snow Bai closed her eyes, the moment they snapped open, they danced with a glint of madness. She was fed up with these hypocritical socialites.

"Did her card work?" Snow Bai asked nonchalantly.

The saleswoman swallowed, turning to the woman in flashy clothes. "Madam, your card has been declined." She whispered, bowing her head as she returned the card.

"How is that p-possible?" The woman stuttered.

The security had already arrived standing beside Snow Bai. "Madam, bring out the stolen item or we will have to search for it ourselves." one of them said.

"Don't you dare touch me with those filthy hands, except you want them gone." The temperature of the room plummeted drastically, and her murderous aura made the security think twice.

She turned to the saleswoman. "Why don't you try mine?"

A knowing smile formed on her lips as her finger brushed the black card in her pocket.
