Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 How We Got Married

The Quinns turned, their faces stiffening as an elderly woman with silver hair walked into the living room, her presence silencing their protest.

Grandma Quinn's eyes moved from Adrian to Snow, and then to Madam Quinn and Michelle. She let out a dry chuckle. "For years I begged Adrian to bring home a wife, and now, the moment he does, the rest of you are squabbling like hens in a marketplace."

Madam Quinn's face froze. "Mother, this woman is nothing but…"

"Enough." Grandma Quinn raised her hand, cutting her off. "You should be grateful, at least this one has spirit. She's better than those empty dolls you kept parading in front of him."

Snow quickly wiped her tears and lowered her head, hiding a sly smile. 'Even heaven is on my side.'

Grandma Quinn walked closer, her cane tapping against the marble floor. She eyed Adrian sharply. "You, boy… always so stubborn. You refuse to marry anyone, and when you finally do, you treat your wife like an intruder? Tsk."

Adrian's jaw tightened, his fists curling at his sides. "Grandma, she is not my wife."

Grandma Quinn arched a brow. "Then why does the whole city believe she is? Why is she standing here in my house?" Her lips curled into a satisfied smile. "You may deny her, Adrian, but I see no shame in this marriage."

Snow lowered her knees in greeting. "Grandma, thank you for believing in me." She lowered her head in gratitude.

'Grandma Quinn is more respectable than anyone in the Quinn family, getting her on my side is like a golden pass. I must please her.'

Grandma Quinn turned to her, she clicked her tongue. "I'm only welcoming you because I longed for my great-grandchildren, and you look healthy and fertile." Her eyes lowered to Snow's chest.

'In your dreams.'

But Snow wore a beautiful smile, masking her disgust. "Grandma, how many children do you want? I can give you five, or even a football team." She held Grandma Quinn's hand.

A smile flickered through Grandma Quinn's. She cleared her throat, tapping Snow's hand with her other hand. "Very good."

She then leaned in closer to Snow's ears. "I'll be watching you… In case you have bad intentions towards my family." Her voice was stern and cold.

Snow's smile wavered, "The Quinn family is my family now, I will never do anything to hurt anyone." She whispered back.

Grandma Quinn leaned back, giving her one last tap.

Adrian rubbed his temple, his eyes moving from Grandma Quinn to Snow. "Grandma, you can marry her since you want a wife. I will call this manipulator my wife.

Grandma Quinn's gaze hardened. "Is that so?" She hit her stick against the floor.

This caused Madam Quinn and Michelle to flinch in their spot. Even Snow felt the authority and chill in her voice.

"Grandma, won't you even ask her how I got married to her? Because I don't remember doing that." Adrian said calmly, but his gaze was burning with fury.

"If you don't remember, why did you bring her here?" Grandma Quinn, placed both her hands on top of her walking stick.

Adrian's gaze bored into Snow. "Because denying the proof would cause a disastrous hit to the company."

Grandma Quinn knitted her brows together, it was strange for someone to get married without remembering.

"Mother, this is the reason why we can't allow this vixen into our home." Madam Quinn voiced her displeasure.

Grandma Quinn turned to Snow. "Tell me how you both got married." Her tone left no room for argument.

Snow bit her lips. "Grandma, what really happened is… I met my husband at the front of the Quinn company…" She began sobbing again.

"My mother was dying, she said she wanted to see me married before leaving this world…" she sniffled.

"I had no boyfriend, and I read on the internet that you can easily get married to a stranger. So I requested the marriage papers." She paused, letting the tension grow stronger.

She continued seeing their curious expression. "I stood in front of the Quinn company, and I held the paper out asking the men if they were willing to become my husband…"

"… no one was willing, I stood there for more than ten hours, that was until Mr. Quinn came out talking with a business partner. I walked up to them, and before I could tell them what the paper was about, Adrian picked up the pen and signed the paper in my hand." She wiped her tears with the edge of her sleeve.

"I was so happy and surprised that he is willing to be my husband. My mother is in the hospital but she is very happy to hear that I have gotten married. She is even looking forward to seeing him."

At her words, Adrian sat on the couch, his expression turned from an angry one to an unbelievable one.

He remembered the day. "Weren't you a postwoman? You dressed like a courier." He muttered.

And if he remembered clearly, he had signed the papers because he was hurrying to the other branch of the company, which was reported to have caught fire.

'Is this really a coincidence or was it already planned?'

"I was coming back from work. I work as a courier… wait… does that… mean you didn't want to marry me?" Snow's voice cracked.

She covered her mouth, crying. She turned around to run out of the mansion. But before she could move, Grandma Quinn held her hand.

"If what you said was true, how did you know he was Adrian Quinn?"

Snow blinked, taken aback by her questions. "Because… because… I heard his business partner call him Mr. Quinn."

Grandma Quinn's sharp gaze fixated on Snow. 'How did she know which of the Quinns? Everything is too perfect to be true.' But she decided not to pursue it. "Then… this marriage is the will of heaven…"

Before Grandma could finish her words, Adrian's cold monotonous voice interjected, cutting her off. "Name your price, and get out of my life."
