Amethyst's POV
I'm so excited tonight is the final night of the play, it has been a drooling couple of weeks getting all the final touches done for this weeks shows. Backstage is buzzing with excitement, every night has been fun and joyful but tonight just feels different. Maybe it's because its the last day of the show so we want to end with a bang or maybe it's because it's my senior year and this is the finale for all us seniors who love theatre, I'm not sure but whatever it is, I'm here for it.
I'm a little mad at myself that I didn't continue my involvement with theatre while I was dating Cliff but I'm glad I got to enjoy it one last time before graduating high school. Who knows maybe in college I'll continue on, only time will tell. What I do know is I am going to soak up all the excitement and energy going on and celebrate it as much as possible.
Cliff's POV
I found out that Ames has been involved in the high school play this year so I decided to support her. Maybe showing up to things like this will help her see how much I appreciate her and value her. I bought her a bouquet of lilies, her favorite flower, and her favorite candy. I also have a plan to get her to go to dinner with me tonight, I got someone to ask her to go with them to celebrate out on the river tonight but when she arrives it will be just the two of us. She will be so surprised, I just hope she won't be angry. It has officially been three months now so she's got to forgive me at this point. After she forgives me I will also ask her to take me to her prom, if that doesn't work then I will move onto Outlaws plan. We already have feelers out as the back up plan if she turns us down but hopefully it won't come to that. We will get our mate back no doubt about it.
Amethyst's POV
The play went through without a hitch and the final curtain call was amazing. I haven't heard that much applause even during the other productions this week. It felt amazing especially when all us seniors came out to take our final bows in this school and on its stage. I am pretty sure we are all full of happy tears.
As we are coming out of the dressing rooms (aka the teacher's lounge and the theatre arts classroom) we are greeted by so many friends and family congratulating us on our performance, handing us flowers and other gifts. I hadn't even noticed when a certain person approached me until they spoke.
"Congratulations on the performance. You did an amazing job tonight. I also heard you contributed to some of the backdrops for this play, they were amazing Ames." Cliff commented.
"Umm, thanks. I appreciate it. I didn't know you would be here. You don't normally come to these types of things." I replied calmly.
"Yeah, I heard you were involved and I wanted to show my support," he exclaimed nervously, scratching the back of his neck with one hand, "I got these for you, I know you love lilies and this kind of chocolate. Again you were amazing. I will let you go, I'm sure you have many adoring fans waiting to talk to you." He hands me the flowers and chocolate and starts to turn away, then pauses, "Ames, I really am sorry and I hope one day you will forgive me and hopefully give me another chance to prove how much I love you and prove I will never break your trust again."
"Umm, okay, thanks for the flowers and chocolates," I reply awkwardly, "and thanks for coming to the show, as for everything else, I don't know if I can."
He nods, "Just think about it okay, I really do love you, we both do." Then he turns and walks away.
'That was awkward, wouldn't you say Summer.'
'Yeah but don't go back to him, it's just pretty words.'
Sighing, 'I know, but it is nice to finally hear him say them and they sound like he meant them.'
'Yeah but we can't trust him anymore and if we go back and they mark us, we will feel more pain every time they cheat, even if it's just a kiss. Don't fall for it.'
'You're right, I won't go back.'
'I'm always right!'
Rolling my eyes, I chuckle to myself just as someone else walks up to me.
"What's so funny?" Jason a guy from my art class asks. He's not a werewolf so I have to be careful about what I tell him.
"Oh I was just thinking of something my sister said earlier today and how full of herself she can be."
'I am not full of myself.' Chuffed Summer
"Oh, well I'm glad someone can make you smile," he responds with a perfect smirk. "So I was wondering if you would want to go out to dinner with me tonight, you know celebrate a successful show and all, you guys did great by the way."
"Umm, wow, that's so sweet of you to ask," I reply nervously, "but tonight is the cast party and I already told everyone I would be there, being that it's my senior year and all and most likely the last cast party I will ever attend." His smirk drops and he looks disappointed.
"Oh, well okay, maybe some other time then. I will see you in class on Monday then."
"Sure, see you Monday." He walks away and I see him pulling out his phone to text someone. 'Man that was awkward, worse than talking with Cliff.' Summer snickers.
'Tell me about it. He's nice and all but I don't know if I really want to date anyone right now, not to mention he's a whole year and half younger than me and human, I would have to keep a huge part of me a secret and I couldn't do that.'
'Yeah, I'm meant to be shared with the world, not be hidden away! If he was our mate we could tell him but I doubt it, it's rare to be mated to humans.' Summer says.
Just as I am finishing my conversation with Summer, we hear a lot of chatter and commotion by the front doors so we walk over to see what it's about. As we get there music starts playing and a small dance mob starts moving around. Everyone around us starts clapping to the beat and really enjoying the entertainment. Just as the song ends the mob parts and points to the back as someone I recognize starts walking forward with roses and a huge neon poster board. Rhett comes to stand in front of me hands me the roses, congratulating me on the show, then turns the sign to face me. I am gawking at everything that's happening when everyone starts chanting "Say yes, say yes." It's then that I actually read the poster, in big huge letters it says, *Amethyst can I be your date to prom?* I gasp when I realize that this a promposal for me. I never expected anyone to ask me, I honestly thought I was just going to go stag. It takes me a few minutes to digest the shock and awe while everyone is still chanting, then I finally look Rhett directly in the eyes and answer, "Sure, why not, that was the best way anyone has ever asked me to do anything!" We both start laughing and I give Rhett a hug and then everyone starts clapping. Once everyone turns and walks away, I stare at Rhett.
"I can't believe you did that!" I smack his arm while still laughing.
"What can I say, I am full of surprises!"
"Just so we are clear, we are going as friends, nothing romantic. For one I am not ready to date anyone and two, it would be weird to actually date you."
Clenching his chest like I broke his heart Rhett replies "I'm wounded! I think we had a great time when we were fake dating and I would be an excellent boyfriend to you. But I understand your reservations, friends it is, but that doesn't mean I won't try to kiss you good night, it is a special night after all."
I laugh and roll my eyes. "We will see about that Romeo!"
