Chapter 24 - chapter 24: I don’t want a mate

The girls day went well for the most part, there was only one or two people that actually came up and said anything about the promposal which I was thankful for. I also decided while we were out to start looking at prom dresses.

While we were looking at dresses we were talking about everything that would be coming up the next few weeks to months and my plans for after graduation now that Cliff and I are no longer getting mated. Jade and Hazel even asked if I wanted to travel to see if I could find my fated mate. It wasn't uncommon for wolves to take a year and travel after graduating high school to see if they could find their mates if they didn't find them locally but I had no interest in doing that.

"What do you mean, you don't want to find your mate Ames?" Hazel asked.

"Exactly what I said, I don't want to find my mate. I know Cliff was only my chosen mate but his betrayal hurt me a lot. It just proved men can't be trusted."

"Not all men are the same Ames, and what about Summer, I'm sure she wants her fated, it's in our wolfs DNA to find their other half." Jade rebuked.

"We are actually on the same page."

"WHAT!?" Both Jade and Hazel exclaimed. "How is that possible!" "No wolf doesn't want to find their mate!" They said at the same time.

Summer pushed forward taking over slightly, "It's true, Ames and I don't want a mate. Men suck and we would rather be alone than trust another deceitful wolf."

Jade and Hazel just stood there speechless. They couldn't believe what we both said. I understand them though, it isn't common to not want to find a mate chosen or fated. But they didn't fully understand where we were coming from either. As far as they knew it was just because of Cliff's and Outlaw's betrayal but it was far more complicated than that. They didn't know what happened to me as a kid and even though Summer wasn't there with me during it, when she came to me she received all my memories and feelings from my past and it broke her just as much as it did me. It's why Cliff's betrayal hurt more than anything. He knows I had a hard time trusting others, he broke down those walls, got me to trust him then broke that trust in an instant. It just solidified that nobody is beyond betrayal, that people you trust can't be trusted and even a mate bond can be broken, so why risk getting hurt more?

Eventually the topic dropped and we finished our girl day and went home. The next day was Monday and the day pretty much flew by. I was even surprised when Jason came up to me in class and asked me out again. I politely declined telling him I wasn't looking to date anyone. He even tried to play it off as just going out as friends but something about it made me uneasy so I just came up with an excuse and declined again. He didn't really seem too bothered so I am hoping that will be the end of him asking.

Cliff's POV

It's Monday afternoon so I'm waiting to hear how Jason fared with Amy today. I'm still torn between wanting her to say yes and her turning him down.

'I hope she turned him down. I know you want to trick her to go on the date with us but if she says yes then it might mean she's moving on and we can't have that.' Outlaw huffs at me.

'I know what you mean but it's worth a shot.'

Kid from HS Jason: hey man, so she turned me down again, she said she isn't looking to date anyone and when I tried to play it off just as friends she still came up with an excuse and said no. Sorry dude.

Cliff: NP, thanx for trying. We R even.

Kid from HS Jason: cool, good luck. Oh I should also mention that she already has a date to prom. Apparently that kid Rhett asked her after the play, it's all over insta and the school page. Here's the video.

After watching the video I threw my phone, I am beyond pissed and can't even reply to the kid.

'THAT RAT! I'M GOING TO KILL HIM! ASKING OUR MATE TO PROM! HE ASKED HER LIKE THAT SO SHE WOULD SAY YES EVEN IF SHE WANTED TO SAY NO!' Outlaw seethed

'I know, but that just means we have to go with our other plan. I've already talked to a few people that maybe willing to take us. We will get our mate back, I promise.'

Amethyst's POV

The past couple weeks have flown by, now I am sitting in the salon getting my hair done for prom. Mom took me to get my nails done earlier in the week, I went with a simple french style with a teal and black flower on my ring finger. Hazel and Jade did my makeup right before my hair appointment. Both of them combined have better skills than me and I didn't see the point of paying someone to do my makeup when they could pass as professionals themselves. They did an amazing job, they gave me beautiful smokey eyes with a pop of teal and some false eyelashes and put a nude color on my lips. When my hair is done its this stunning half up half down do. The stylist took the top half braided the crown until it met in the middle making a flower with a few wisps framing my face then she curled the rest. It was simple but stunning nonetheless.

Once I get home I immediately start getting dressed. My prom dress is this teal form fitting mermaid style. Its off the shoulder, has a v-neckline, cutouts on the sides, a slit up the right leg and black and silver beading that form flowers going from the top of the slit up to the bodice of the dress. I paired it with black bow knot high heals and this beautiful black rhinestone flowers with sliver vines necklace and earrings set. I figured it's my senior year so why not go all out! Once I am dressed I come out and am blinded by my mom and siblings taking pictures. I can't help but laugh at their antics. Tonight is going to be a great night!
