Lucian truly hoped that Kyle was not romantically interested in him because the last thing he wanted to be a part of was drama.
Particularly relationship drama because he was certain Jace could have even more reasons to kill him if Lucian let himself get swayed into caring for another man before they were truly mated.
The lights came on five minutes later and Lucian's walls were up again, thicker than before as he refrained from looking at the omega beside him.
The elevator started moving shortly afterwards and Kyle kept himself from talking to the alpha whose aura was suddenly distant.
Instead of being disappointed, Kyle decided to see Lucian's reaction as positive feedback.
The alpha was clearly affected by his actions and that was a lot better than no reaction.
He just had to make sure that Lucian did not entirely push him away.
