Lucian's instincts flared at the sudden screeching sound that filled the air as their car came to a halt.
It was quite unnatural for the driver to break without first informing them and his brows furrowed into a small frown as he suspected that something had gone wrong.
"Why did you stop?" He asked the driver as the two bodyguards that had accompanied them stepped out.
"We had two flat tires, sir." One of the men outside replied and Lucian exchanged a brief glance with Kyle who was now awake.
"Are you alright?" He asked and Kyle nodded faintly, trying to keep his heart from racing at the small act of concern.
"Stay here, I will be right back." Lucian added before he opened the door and stepped out in the breezy late evening air.
It was starting to get dark and the fact that they were in a relatively remote place did little to ease Lucian whose mind was already imagining the worst case scenarios.
