The rise of the God of Death
Chapter 14: New Day, New Ally
As Daimon was about to leave the arena, Nil's voice stopped him, hesitant but earnest. "Thank you very much, master."
Daimon blinked in confusion. "Master?"
Nil dropped to his knees, desperation in his eyes. "Master... Please make me your servant. Without you, I would have died long ago. I promise I won't question who you are or why you're so strong. Just please, take me with you."
Daimon studied him for a moment and finally replied, "You need treatment first. I'll take you for now... but I have a test for you. If you pass, you're more than welcome to stay."
Together they left the dark cave and stepped into the sunlight. Nil, who had been imprisoned for years, looked relieved to feel the sun on his face again. Daimon handed Nil the keys to a nearby shed and told him, "Take a bath and eat whatever you want until I return."
Daimon then headed to the guild to claim his prize and rank up to Rate 2 Soldier. After that, he picked up Lucy, bought her ice cream, and headed home.
Inside, Daimon found Nil sleeping tiredly on the couch. He turned to Lucy and said, "I saved this guy from prison and torture... and now he wants to serve me. What would little Lucy do in this situation?"
Lucy smiled warmly. "This is because Uncle Daimon is so kind."
Daimon gently patted her head, gave her some food, and she soon fell asleep.
Once Lucy was asleep, Daimon stepped out of the room and kicked Nil's leg lightly. Nil stirred, groggy and confused. "What's the matter, master?"
Daimon smirked. "Shouldn't you take the test before making yourself at home here?"
Nil groaned, turning away. "Not now. I'm tired."
"You dare say that?" Daimon said with a grin. He grabbed Nil and threw him out of the shed. "Test time."
Nil sighed but accepted. "Okay, fine. What's the challenge?"
Daimon explained, "Right now, I'm at the strength of a Lord, one rank above your maximum. I want you to land one hit on me."
Surprised by the difficulty but determined, Nil accepted. The two fought fiercely for three hours, but every attempt ended in Nil's defeat without landing a single hit.
Daimon finally said, "Maybe you should rest. We'll continue tomorrow."
