Chapter 17: Ranking Up (2)
As Daimon took his leave, he first arrived at the child care center to pick up Lucy. The little girl cheerfully hugged him, calling out, "Uncle Daiiiimonnnn…" He lifted her onto his shoulder and headed to the guild. The receptionist and everyone else were confused and surprised that he dared to return after accepting the quest that even the hero had failed to complete.
Daimon approached the receptionist, slammed the quest paper on the bench, and demanded, "Reward, please?"
Everyone paled, shocked that a Rate 2 Soldier had completed such a difficult quest. Initially, the quest had been rated for a Rate 1 Soldier, but after the hero's failure, it had advanced to Elite Warrior. The reward was unique—Daimon advanced, skipping a rank, straight to Warrior.
Now with his own place and resources to care for Lucy, he sought permission and then went to meet the guild master. The master congratulated him and handed over the keys to the hotel, along with a list of the people assigned to serve them.
Daimon left for the shed and found Nil sleeping on the couch again. He grabbed Nil and carried him to the hotel. On the way, Nil woke up, confused, and asked, "Where the hell is Master going?"
Daimon replied, "I'm a Warrior now… you can have a bigger couch to sleep in."
Nil got slightly angry but said, "Okay, wake me up there," and tried to go back to sleep. Daimon lightly struck Nil's shoulder—it was strong enough to wake him fully, and Nil got off Daimon's shoulder to walk alongside him.
Daimon asked, "So, what happened while I was gone?"
Nil answered, "I reported everything without revealing your true strength. I took the place of the hero and became the City Lord's direct guardian. I also announced that Master Daimon is my master."
Daimon smiled cheerfully, "Well done, kid… now we have an army following us."
When they reached the hotel, Daimon took his room key and went inside, surprising the staff who saw Nil's master for the first time. He kissed Lucy on the forehead and placed her on the bed. Then, Daimon gave Nil his own room key and returned to his room to sleep beside Lucy, thinking all night about the visions and future plans until he finally fell asleep.
